Messi needs to be on a plane to China on thursday and let the chips fall where they may. I dont think the Barcelona fans will be to hard on him at that point and will see that he has been more than fair. The Argy fans need to be give Messi a few more days and then they will have a right to be mad if he stays at Barcelona and does not head to the Olympics.

After reading this following article my respect and admiration for Messi has deteriorated.
http://www.fcbarcelona.com/web/english/noticies/club/temporada08-09/07/n080728102607.html

The chairman commented that “the player wants to play for both FC Barcelona and Argentina.” He praised Messi’s “great maturity” in this case. “FC Barcelona is ready to help him do both,” added Laporta, after pointing out that Messi has not completed any preseason in the last three years
Im finally giving up on this situation. Barcelona will surely triumph unless Messi suddenly realizes that country comes before club.

bottomline; Is Messi a sissy? We will know soon

John,
please do not post anymore. this is your last warning

My last post on this blog was on 2:43 pm. The 2 previous post under my name were made by the imbecil impersonator that thinks hes funny.

I still respect Messi and think he has done right but the next few days will show what he really wants. FIFA please make this easy.

The Barcelona stance, and the Barcelona fan stance, is cynical. They act like international football is nothing but a burden – that they are the victims – that they only get injuries and tired players out of these tournaments. This is so nauseatingly cynical — players make their name in international events. Club teams reap the benefits (as in cash) after every world cup, when legions of fans discover the game of football, and the superstars in that game, as a result of international games.
If I have to hear one more comment about how Barcelona paid for Messi’s hormone treatments, I’m going to run amok. They did not do this out of the goodness of their hearts. They saw that treatment as an investment, and the dividends have already paid off. They’ve already reaped the benefits of that investment. He doesn’t owe them anything. The treatments don’t give them the right to keep him in indentured servitude for the rest of his career. What a bunch of cynical bastards.
I get the sense that Messi’s going to have to go against his own father’s wishes if he plays for Argentina. His decision has to be made by tomorrow, becuase that’s when they leave for their ridiculous tour.
Meanwhile, all that time where Riquelme and Messi were supposed to be learning to adapt to each other’s game is going out the window.

Totally agree with you Alexa, i got that same impression from reading Barca fans opinions, they reckon Messi is a paid for commodity. Barca paid for his hormone treatment from the goodness of their hearts, what a joke! They saw a 13 year old kid with massive potential, and i reckon they must have been over the moon to realise that his family and club could not afford the treatment, i can just imagine the $ signs rotating in their eyes. It’s all bollocks, no club does anything from the goodness of it’s heart, always there is somewhere a $ sign rotating.

Tomorrow we will know one way or the other.

James, you watched the match, is it just me or did Riquele have a bad game?

sorry, should be Riquelme.

I really hope that thi sis decided tomorrow . If FIFA rules against barcelona again then Messi better be on a plane the next day. You know barcelona will just say they are going to appeal it and try to convince messi that he should go on the tour but as far as I am concerned if FIFA rules for ARgentina that is where messi should be and if it is overturned on appeal later than Messi can go back to barcelona. I think that Messi will need to finally let everyone know in a strong way that he wants to play in the Olympics and FIFA supports that decision so adios I am off to China.

Ah! The troll/trog is back.
Toddutah, I can’t see Messi doing that, if he was on his own then yes, but his father won’t let him. Messi would be at the Olympics now if his father hadn’t made him stay. His first statement on this subject was, ‘i will be at the Olympics no matter what’.

I’m not sure if Riquelme had a bad game (didn’t see it), but from the highlights his free kicks and corners looked as dangerous as ever. it would be hard to judge the japan game of how well the team played since it seemed to occur under monsoon conditions. One thing though — playing in the pollution of Beijing will be hell on wheels.

From what i saw, he wasn’t playing well there was no link up to the front two, we weren’t creating very much, in the end, we counter-attacked with Aguero playing a nice pass from deep to Di Maria, great finish.

John,
I finally agree with you.you are a fine intellect

day1star,
we will see whether Messi give in to Barca. I hope you are right in him standing up to Barca. I doubt it though.
saludos

Hi there everyone,
Haven’t posted anything in a while as I was pretty busy at work. But I supposed the main topic is still very much the same.
At this moment of time, I’m getting the feeling of giving up on Messi. Sad to say that I’m going to say this but I’m kind of getting fed up with both Barca & Messi. Please understand my feelings here as I’m firstly a proud fan of the Albiceleste, yesterday, today & forever.
But I feel there is need now to question Messi desire to play for Argentina. One moment he says he is going to Beijing, the next he is training with his club teammates in Scotland.
Didn’t anyone have ever thought him that action speaks louder than words?
I have to agree with the great Diego that Messi must stand up against Barca and stay firm on his decision.
I also think there is big conspiracy from Barca to stop us from winning the gold in Beijing. Spanish sports as a whole is having a great year from football to tennis to cycling. They wouldn’t us to take away the gloss from them. So now they are trying to prevent us from achieving something.
The worst thing is that many Barca fans (or even Spanish fans for that matter) are always trying to associate the Beijing 2008 with the Chinese Communist Party propaganda. Therefore they don’t support the idea of FIFA in releasing players for the game.
My Spanish amigos please don’t mixed politics and sports. It’s just not right. After all didn’t the Catalonians choose the Camp Nou as a place to voice their displeasure under Spanish rule?
Well with that said, I will hope Checho will consider on bringing someone else to replace and Messi. Let’s prove to the whole world that Argentina will always be Argentina, with or without Messi.
Having said that, here is my message to the Atomic Flea; La Liga, Champions Leagues are held every year. The Olympics only comes once in a lifetime. Please be wise. Or you might live to regret forever.
By the way, please check out the result for the 2008 MUNDO ALBICELESTE AWARD on the following link
