I think it's possible Ronaldinho might be a bit slower than he used to be, but he's got game!!
He should still be a fantastic player.
The problem must be in his mind.
And whatever is in his mind right now, doesn't look like it's football.

Heh players like Zidane, Pirlo and Riquelme can play well into their thirties without losing much of their effectiveness, because they lacked pace to begin with. Kaka on the other hand...

I have watched many skilled players come in my league at 20 with speed and skill and by 26 by out of shape and slower and have watched many players come in at 20 and be just as fast and more skilled at 30. The difference becomes more than anything else work ethic and desire to compete. How many of you work with people that are lazy? It is the same in futbol in that the lazy ones eventually can no longer just rely on speed and skill if they dont put in the work off the field. example number one has to be Adriano of Brasil. If he was fit and determined is there any doubt of how good he would be ? The trully great ones are a combo of Talent skill and mental talent and skill. i believe that Messi will prove ot have both skill sets but only time will tell.

I have played for 32 years and at a semi pro level was pretty good. The truth is that if you stay fit you will not see much loss in speed until around 30 but injuires and fitness levels play a role. Also as you get older you might lose some speed but your overall game should continue to imporve as your skill set increases and your mind and vision grows. the trully great players will continue to grow their skill set and not just rest on their current form. Sadly I think that Dinho has not imporved in other areas and let himself slow down that mili seocnd that makes such a big difference. The truth is that the players that stay and shape will last much longer and there skills will last longer but when you are 20 you can eat and drink whatever you want and go ouit the next day and compete aat 26 is not the same but if you taek care you can actually peek at 28 29 ? My best futbol was at the age of 33 as I look back now that i am 40.

Barcelona has lost their counter attack, this is why they are so poor on the road.

Ronaldinho is one of my top three players in the world, but he really has messed things up for himself. He should still be the official best player in the world (the unofficial best player in the world - the real one - to me is riquelme).

And I don't really get why Dinho let Messi take over Barcelona. Athletes of that caliber are usually crazily competitive (like Messi) and they work their asses off when they see a threat. Dinho didn't do that - I don't understand him at all.

As for Messi - he's so needed now. Barcelona still has a chance in the champions league, but without messi, they won't do it.

Interesting point by toddutah. True that Dinho has lost his acceleration but how about his dribbling skills? Well, I have not played much football myself, but those of you who are decent players can help me answer this perhaps:
Does age takes away the agility required for dribbles? if then is 27 the average age when one start loosing it? That sounds scary, our lil chap Messi then need to really focus on mastering the other essential skills to sustain in top flight till he turn 32 or 34:)

Messi has become the key to barcelona now and a lot of it has to do with how many players the other teams are having to use to mark him. Even when he does not score he opens things up for the rest of the players. It is becoming eveident that Ronaldinos game has changed in that he can no longer beat other players off the dribble as he once did. he can still pass and shoot but the fans can not accept this change and Ronnie needs to realaize what is happening and adapt his game to his other talents. As for real they do in so many ways remind be of brasil. They are strong on the counter and very big and athletic but do not play the beautiful game. Lets hope they do not win the league again. Inter is all Argy is form and spirit and any argy with the chance should go there. feliz navidad y ano nuevo a todos :)
