Champions League Continues This Week
We’re down to the final 16 in Europe as the Champions League resumes today after a long winter break, and as always, Argentina will be well represented, with names like Messi, Heinze, Higuaín, Gago, Tevez, and Belluschi just to name a few.
What match-up are you most looking forward to? While everyone seems to be calling the youthful Arsenal versus the experienced AC Milan as the best draw, for me personally it has to be the Inter Milan – Liverpool tie, and the expected Mascherano, Cambiasso duel in the midfield.
For a preview, please check out Episode 11 of the Offside Podcast, where we preview each game and give our picks. Also, I open the show talking a little about the Copa Libertadores.
Tuesday
Inter Milan at Liverpool
Real Madrid at Roma
Chelsea at Olympiakos
FC Porto at Schalke 04
Wednesday
AC Milan at Arsenal
Manchester United at Lyon
Barcelona at Celtic
Sevilla at Fenerbahce

Aaaarrrggghh…goltv is showing yet another River game and even that is with bottom team San Lorenzo. Either goltv gets to buy River Plate games at bargain basement prices or a River fan runs the show at goltv!! I am mad as hell.

Its Fox Spots not GOLTV and a large majority about 90% of Argentines are either Boca fans or River Fans thats why Fox Spots play there game.

Thanks for correcting me – I meant FSC.

Real Madrid got a taste of their own counter attack medicine. RM’s goal was flagged offside and their premature celebrations allowed Getafe to counter attack and score. Haha. Now Barca is within 2 points.

Serie A Report — Highlights
AC MILAN 2 – Palermo 1 …..The European CHAMPIONS are getting stronger and again displayed their superiority over their opponents. Super Pippo!
Roma 1 – Fiorentina 0 …….Roma are a great team to watch, second only to MILAN
Sampdoria 1 inter 1…..inter continue to struggle after their humiliation at Liverpool. They have no shot at Euro Glory.
regards,

John,
I dont follow Serie A but who is at top. And where does Inter stand. I hope there not doing that bad.

Gago has been doing really well for Real Madrid. Ever had a nice game for Valencia. Messi best player in the world when he is on from. With Eto back Barcelona can win everything. Fernando Tissone has been tearing it up fo Atalante in Italy. Fernando Tissone should be in the Sub 23 roster, he is a very important player. Lucas Bigilia should also be on the list he has been the best player in Belgium for the past 2 years. Laurito Acosta has been playing well too.

Tommy,
Inter Milano is currently first with 60 points in 24 matches played, 9 points ahead of the second, Roma, and 13 points ahead of the third teams, Juventus and Milan.

Albo if you are going to answer questions posed to me (baffling in itself) please be correct.
European Champions AC MILAN are in fourth place, 19 points behind inter. Tommy this assumes inter will not be docked 9 – 12 points for very controversial wins.
AS ROMA v inter the wednesday is a huge game be sure and catch it.
regards,

River Plate and Boca Juniors are finding their game.
River played very good football yesterday.
Ortega is in great form and he is a super-talented enganche.
Maxi, after trying all types of formation like 3-3-3-1, 3-5-2 and 4-3-3, Simeone went back to the old argy 4-3-1-2 and it worked wonders.
Villagra (left back/wing)was a pleasant surprise. He’s phenomenal.
I love the chilean kid Sanchez.
It was very strange though, seeing D’Alessandro and Placente wearing a San Lorenzo jersey and Loco Abreu in a River jersey. (?)
It was also pretty special when the River fans received Ramon Diaz with a standing ovation.
Now, why D’Alessandro left the pitch so early in the game? I’ll let River fans answer that one ![]()
I couldn’t watch my Boca but Palermo scored twice.

estudiantes wow wat form there in under sensini

Yes, Lanus and Estudiantes are playing the best argy football these days.

Imo, Messi has made two important changes in the last 18 months.
The first change almost went unnoticed – he stopped using Aimar style gliding motions over the ball. Aimar’s rolling motion looks very graceful but it makes him highly vulnerable to injuries. So I am glad Messi now keeps his feet firmly on the ground – his motions look much flatter and stronger now. This change of motion should keep Messi from becoming a physical wreck like Aimar.
The second one is of course his game presence. I think he started this change around the Copa time, when he started to look very restrained. But I think he has found the right balance of attack, restraint and play-making now. His transition into greatness will be the story of soccer over the next two years.

It’s great to read that Cavenaghi is re-finding the form he lost while he was in Russia. 6 goals in 6 games for him at the moment.

“Pone a Tinelli la puta que te parioooooo! Pone a Tinelli la puta que te parioooooo!”
Did River reserves -sorry, I mean’t San Lorenzo-, really think they would win? LMAO!
As for River, I liked the organization and willingness shown by the team. I don’t want to sound far fetched, but this is an effective way of winning tournaments, and if we keep up this style of play we may see River lifting a trophy in June. Of course I don’t want to get ahead of myself: in the last 3 years River had several great games that renewed my faith, yet we haven’t won a tournament in that period of time.
We’ll see though. It wasn’t the most impressive display (it could have been much better), but I was very satisfied nonetheless.
Vamos River!

I hope you manage it Golazo.
Well at least one youngster knows who he wants to play for, Mauro Icardi said in an interview that he was asked to play in the Spanish youth sides, but he rejected them because he says he wants to play for Argentina.

Golazo, good for you!!!
Sounds like the trip of your life, dude.

Good luck Golazo.
