The Ambassador Returns

Carlos Tevez

Carlos Tévez made his return to Upton Park today as Manchester United lost 2-1 to West Ham in a stunning upset, and dropping the Red Devils to second place in the Barclay’s Premier League.

Man United were up 1-0 and ready to put the game out of reach when Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up to take a penalty in the 68th minute, but amazingly, his shot went wide and completely missed the net, denying him his second goal of the night and the opportunity to secure a much needed 3 points. It would prove costly, as the Hammers would come back to score twice for the upset, and combined with Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Everton, leaves United 2 points back of the Gunners who leapfrog into 1st place.

As expected, Carlitos received a warm welcome prior to kickoff from the East London crowd, as the 35,000 in attendance welcomed him back with a standing ovation as a show of gratitude for his heroics last season, which Tévez in turn acknowledged by making the Hammers symbol with both arms. He would prove largely ineffective in the game itself however, and would be substituted in the 64th minute. Regardless of the outcome, it was a great moment to witness, and summed up perfectly by the match announcers, referring to Tévez as an ambassador of the game.

Guys, if you have video showing Tevez’s welcome reception, please post it here. Thanks. I guess Tevez’s presence really helped West Ham - again.

ManU really missed Anderson’s creativity. And Ronaldo’s game sometimes similar to Messi’s - always tried to do something special and dissociates his game from the team. And when a manager decides to go for 5 mids, it’s a disaster.

It was nice to see the class shown by both Tevez and West Ham fans.

Great video; thanks, SAL.

Transfer window willl soon be open!

What does everything think will happen with Saviola? Will he stay put until the end of the season? Or, do you think Real will let him go in January (maybe on loan if a club express interest)?

Saviola is “buried alive” at Real Madrid.
He’s got to get out of there.
What a terrible decision, Conejito…

Saviola will leave Real maybe in January but definitely by the end of the year. Real is to stacked with talent for him to get any substantial playing time.

One of the middle of the pack EPL teams will pick him up, possibly Bolton.

Any thoughts on my Coppa America post (My 2007 Year in Review) before I was distracted?

Regards again
