Yes JOHN, it’s true. We’re living in a world where money is the most important thing so players always follow the path of their bank account instead of the ones that lead to a nice career.
KEN’s behaviour is not going to make me hate Milan at all. Milan will perform well this year, obviously, even with their very old defence. I love Italy and its traditional tactical futbol. I don’t like Milan’s policy of buying Brazilians but they are a great club. I’ve watched Milan & Inter at San Siro every week-end during 5 or 6 years. I love these teams.
RUNE,
I think most of us agree on almost everything concerning Argentina. ALFIO, AURELIUS, SKYWALKER, myself always tend to mention the same NT problems every week. Our tactical knowledge is maybe not the same, but logic is common to all of us.
Grondona is making interesting deals with Renova (for himself) and he will not fire a coach that will never create problems with them. I hope our leaders (DeMichelis, Zanetti, Heinze, Coloccini, Maxi Rodriguez) are going to take the team on their shoulders and do Basile’s job. Zidane did it in 2006. I’m sure they can. I miss Pekerman though.

John Buonanotte is 19 and will be 20 soon. But none the less, I agree wholeheartedly - still too young to sign for an European team. He needs to grow as a person and a player, and then pick his club carefully at a later stage around 22.

Riquelme might be dropped/rested agains Uruguay. Therefore the front 4 will be: Di Maria, Aguero, Messi, Tevez.
These are however rumors.

I love tht front four but it takes 11 to play . Someone please put down the most likey starters. Not what you want but what you think Basile will do against Uruguay if Roman cant play .

United States

Carrizo
Zanetti - Burdisso - Demichelis - Heinze/Monzon
— Mascherano — Cambiasso —
Messi — Di Maria
Aguero — Tevez
I personally would start Milito ahead of Tevez.

I agree with you ajnyhc as this is most likey and would prefer Monzon to heinze but it will b einteresting to see what basile does after the last heinze incident. he might start him just to keep the players happy. Now given the players called and Roman not starting who would you all start?

United States

Juan Pablo Carrizo (Lazio)
Luciano Monzón (Betis)
Martín Demichelis (Bayern Munich)
Nicolás Burdisso (Inter)
Javier Zanetti (Inter)
Javier Mascherano (Liverpool)
Angel Di María (Benfica)
Lionel Messi (Barcelona)
Carlos tevez (Man U )
Diego Milito (Genoa)
Sergio Agüero (Atlético Madrid
I really dont think we need cambiasso and mascherano in together with four defenders behind them. I would prefer Lucho or Maxi there next to Messi but not avaiable.

Please Carlos no red card ![]()

toddutah - that lineup seems impossible under Basile. Although for the sake of balance I could take off Tevez and put in Gago (if he was available) or even Banega. Gago/Banega can operate a little further up the pitch from Mascherano.

Actually thats a fair comment from Seb Abreu.
Appalling waste of personell who should be there in Buenos Aires but are not , nor likely to be in the forseeable future much to the detriment of winning in 2010.
Team:
———————Carizzo——————————-
Zanetti——Burdisso———Dimichelis————-Monzon
——————–Mascherano—————————–
—Messi—————————————-di Maria—
————————Tevez——————————
————-Milito—————Aguero——————-
Keep beating the drum. No Cavenaghi, Zarate ,Garay , Gonzalo or Higuain players at the top of their form & young enough to need prepping for 2010.
By the way congratulations to your son Todd on making the ODP. Its all about hard work too not just talent. Too many kids today playing the game fail to maximise their ability thorugh lack of practise or effort.
And Golazo what happenend ? You’ve not had a footballing mishap have you ? That happens to everyone involved in the game. Its how you react that is important.
Buonannotte should not go yet to Europe by any means. He has time on his side & time to keep learning his craft & build up a bit physically too. Morales & Zarate made the mistake luckily Mauro is back on track. Same with Noir already the predatory eyes of the so called European elite are keeping tabs on him.
Chau amigos. ![]()

Thaks for the congrats and yes hard work is the key. he practices alone every day for at least two hours when not with the team. He is up to 1400 juggles now . I understand that Basile wont use my line up but I wish he would for once just see what the team plays like when Messi and company have more than just three offensive options .

Argentine Debate: Pick Your Argentina Team
With the stakes so high, Argentina are in a must win situation at home to Uruguay in the highly anticipated River Plate derby on Saturday. Gregory Sica invites readers to select their “ideal” Argentina starting XI for the crucial World Cup qualifier…
»Comments (24) Print This Story Send To A Friend Contact Us galleria zoom Below is the 24-man squad Alfio Basile selected for the big game with Uruguay in Buenos Aires on Saturday (only six players are home-based).
Goalkeepers: Juan Pablo Carrizo, Sergio Romero, Agustin Orion
Defenders: Fabian Monzon, Javier Zanetti, Martin Demichelis, Daniel Diaz, Gabriel Heinze, Fabricio Coloccini, Nicolas Burdisso
Midfielders: Juan Roman Riquelme, Pablo Zabaleta, Maximiliano Rodriguez, Javier Mascherano, Esteban Cambiasso, Angel Di Maria, Pablo Barrientos, Cristian Ledesma, Leandro Somoza
Forwards: Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Bergessio, Carlos Tevez, Diego Milito
Argentina haven’t managed to claim a victory in their last five World Cup qualifiers, and pressure is mounting on the squad, but particularly on head coach Alfio Basile, who could well be out of a job if Argentina fail to beat Uruguay at the Monumental stadium.
There’s no question, Argentina boasts an incredibly talented squad, with an abundance of quality in all sectors of the field, but they are not functioning as a team, and this has affected their position on the table.
For both qualifiers, against Uruguay and Chile, Basile has gone with a very attacking minded squad, including five strikers, as well as at least five attacking midfielders. It’s obvious Argentina have been lacking goals in recent qualifiers, and because of this Basile has opted for several different options up front.
For now it seems Argentina will begin their World Cup qualifier with Uruguay with the following starting XI:
Juan Pablo Carrizo; Nicolas Burdisso, Martin Demichelis, Gabriel Heinze, Javier Zanetti; Javier Mascherano, Esteban Cambiasso; Juan Roman Riquelme; Lionel Messi, Carlos Tevez, Sergio Aguero.
As you may see, Basile has selected a very exciting formation with a strong attacking emphasis. Not only will Argentina play with three strikers, but the team includes two midfielders who often find the back of the net, these being Juan Roman Riquelme and Esteban Cambiasso.
Earlier in the week reports from the Argentine press indicated that the much-troubled Riquelme could miss the match due to injury, and that his position would be taken by Benfica youngster Angel Di Maria, however, since then, Riquelme has recovered and is more than likely to begin from the kick-off.
We want you, the viewers, to tell us whether Basile has made the right choices with his line-up? Should Argentina play with such an attacking minded team for such a crucial derby?
Is it about time Riquelme has a more limited role within the team? Gabriel Heinze played awfully against Paraguay, and was left out against Peru. Is it about time he is replaced for good?
With only four goals in their last five games, is it time to give a chance to the likes of prolific Genoa striker Diego Milito, or Gonzalo Bergessio, who has played a key role in San Lorenzo’s sensational title run this season?
We also want you to tell us what would be your ideal Argentina starting XI, whether that be with the players Basile has named in his squad, or others who he left out? (there are plenty of these: Mauro Zarate, German Denis, Rodrigo Palacio, Diego Buonanotte are some).

maxi-macherano-di-maria
messi-milito-aguero
the bottom line is we need goals, plus i would like to see the team start with riquelme on the bench (though i know that would never happen). we must play with a true #9 with milito, he is in good form and this will help build his confidence. no double #5 this time for we really need goals and i am confident with mache in front of a solid back four.

Golzao,
i want to give a little advice.
i was a talented youth player.similair to riquelme in style.playmaker with a killer pass, excellent understanding of the game, team player but lazy like no other, never fit and no desire, had problems with injuries at 16 i stopped playing football, i hated football,if they would offer me to be professional i would turn it down, and i even stopped watching football.5 years passed i never touched a ball again not even for fun.my coach said you are so dumb i only laughed at him cause i was ignorant.after 5 years i started playing for fun again and i didnt lose my technique, some new friends didnt even know that i can play football saw me and wondered how good i was with the ball.i am 25 now my body is finished(for sport haha)but i regret that i stopped playing, and didnt fight, worked and trained maybe i could have become professional, maybe not but atleast i could say i tried.GOLAZO and TODDUTAH son…dont quit, never stop working.
1 thing i am proud is i once played a ball to ZIDANE 1996.hahaha.
france prepared for the EURO ´96.
before he would go on a become 1 of the gratest player in football.

Zanetti——Burdisso———Dimichelis————-Monzon

I CAN SEE YOUR THINKING HERE tevez is a perfect roman replacment he played up front at Olympics but actually dictated play as a forward type play maker he also played in verons position for Argentina wen veron was injured
and like messi is a world class linking play forward rotating with messi as the behind the strikers guy makes perfect sense but id do it this way
3-5-2
back 3 then
zabaleta gago mascorano monzon
tevez
messi aguro
or messi
tevez aguro
but militio deserves a go and we need a 9
or as you show 4-4-2 but drop tevez play de maria as inside outside attack left
and messi in free role and get some balls in the box ENGLISH STYLE for milito from zabaleta monzon and demaria and play gago with mascorano
im no 4-4-2 fan in fact i hate it but lets be honest 2 pushing fullbacks zab/mon and 2 wide attacks messi/demaria and aguro/milito up front = goals lots of them

col-milito-heinze
gago mascorano
maxi demaria/newcastle wingeer guy forgot name
messi
milito aguro
my 11 my formation choice 3-5-2 super attack that can be made defensive at any time

Is Maxi fit for this game?
A norwegian TV channel will show both of Argentina’s upcoming qualifiers, so I won’t have to look for a web channel this time. Wonderful for me!
From this squad I wanna see this team:
————Carizzo
Zanetti-Demichelis-Diaz-Monzon
——Mascherano-Cambiasso
——–Messi–Riquelme
———Milito-Aguero

According to reports on tyc sports formation:
——–Carrizo
——–Burrisdo—Demchem—Heinze
-Cambiasso —Mascherano—-Ledesma —Di maria
—–Messi——Ageuro——-Tevez
Posted from
United States

So tyc sports are actually reporting that Coco will play Cambiasso as a right winger??? I don’t think so!

Yes Rune that is what they are saying.

Cambiasso as a right winger? That’s sounds more realistic to me actually. Seeing Basile for last few years, thats an authentic piece of news dude.
I would like to see a line up like this
——-Carrizo—-
Zanetti-Demichelis-Monzon
—Mascherano-
-Cambiasso–
Maxi—————-Tevez
———-Messi———-
——Aguero-Milito——
Subs = Di Maria for Tevez
Ledesma for Cambiasso

Debashish
You are starting Tevez and that too in midfield ? i don’t think he deserves to start , he should be a sub for Aguero. I would always have Dimaria in my starting line up. But, lets see i hope Tevez scores and plays really well, i would not mind eating my words back tomorrow ![]()

New thread up.

Cambiasso can play on the right of a 4-3-1-2, in specific conditions, like in 2006. But he must never be on the wing. Using him like a Maxi Rodriguez on the right of a 3-4-1-2 system is ridiculous & crazy. We have plenty of talents: Lucho, Santana, Zanetti,
Playing Ledesma instead of Lucho or Banega is not a mystery anymore for me. Basile is biased, we all know it. He still coaches Boca. It’s a shame.
Milito has been called because Basile needs someone to cut the oranges for Messi, Aguero & Tevez. Next time, he’ll call Cavenaghi to do the job.
Riquelme won’t play. I wonder what D’Alessandro thinks right now. He must be saying: “damn, I could have played against Uruguay. Why wasn’t I called this time? Infact, why was I called last time?”
Basile must have called 70 players for 2 years. I don’t know what he’s doing. I think he doesn’t consider subs like important players so he calls everybody. He doesn’t care about them. Basile is not preparing WC otherwise he would always call the same group of players.
ALFIO, I understand now why you know that much about futbol (enganche!).

it seems that we maybe without 5 key starters for our upcoming match while tevez and riquelme are suspended mache, aguero and dimichelis are doubtful. this is a major cause for concern. will basile call on extra players, will he be forced to play a true #9. were will our creativity come from. i guess we will find out in the next day or two
