Links for Watching Ivory Coast – Argentina Match
If you missed this morning’s game, please click on one of the links below to watch the match in full.
Please be aware that there may be spoilers on either page. The NBC video on demand looks great, but yesterday they were displaying the scores on the media player as it was playing, but last I checked it appears they stopped doing this. Later tonight I’ll post a recap on this blog of the match, including the score.

You want to support Brazil, that’s your choice, but i don’t support Brazil and never will. No-one compares to Argentina, certainly not the saps!

I’m re-posting the link for anyone who wants to watch the whole of the match again:

For some reason it was easier to avoid hearing scores during the last World Cup than it has been so far during these Olympics….

We should all be happy. Ivory Coast is not an easy opponent.
Our team played well but there’s a lot of room for improvement.
The continuous presence of this multi-personality troll takes away from the natural flow of this blog.
Our team is not only one of the best, but it’s also the source of the most impressive football today.
Let’s celebrate our first (deserved) victory, and hope for an even better level of play for our future matches.
Vamos Argentina!!!!!!

I thought the defensive system in place was terrible and at times shambolic. The one overlooked problem of not playing a true #9 and playing this ridiculous Brazilian 4 — box 4 — 2 setup is that it forces the D to really push up in set piece / corner situations. And this plays into the hands of our opponents who sit back and wait for the counter. With our D caught out of position, Masche is having to do a lot of back tracking and picking up technical fouls, but puts him in situations to pick up yellows.
This double number 5 fascination is fine if you have true wingers to exploit space and go on counter attacks. but since we don’t do that and play very much of a station to station passing system, Gago needs to move up in line with Roman and allow the MF to move out even wider giving us room on the field and allowing us to protect the flanks on D. And allow Masche as the sole #5 and play a 4-1-4-1. This allows Gago to probe deeper into opposition territory to stop attacks before they start and also pushes Di Maria / Acosta & Messi out wide to give width to the formation. In addition, it protects Masche but also allows him to provide sufficient cover when one of our wingbacks moves up. Right now, most of our guys are all concentrated in the middle of the park and is leaving us exposed.
One example was after the first Roman set piece a couple of mins into the game, the Africans countered at warp speed and Lavezzi was the one back defending on the flank near our goaline. That was terrible.
Our defensive system is so box to box that anytime an opponent exploits a vacant area of the pitch, we’re caught in a bad position. forget the scoreline and pretty much all the matches here. As good as Ivory Coast is, and quite frankly the rest of the field in the tourney, no one can keep up with us technically so our Defensive system won’t be put to the test as we’re heads and shoulders superior to our competition. It’s important to win but with the way in which we defend, we’ll be punished severely by the likes of Brazil, Germany, etc in the WC in 2 years time. It’s alarming to watch us make the same mistakes over and over again. It’s almost as if no one in the Argy coaching ranks wants to defend anymore.

It was interesting to me, to see Riquelme so further back in the field. Starting his plays from around midfield line. He was free of defenders there, so it worked.

Mane, yeah whatever

Notice how everything is written in lower case?

The John in Mane tries to prevail.
So the Mane in John is not very happy today.

quote from brasil blog after last argy vs brasil game I will not say any more on brasil. Slowly Dunga’s reign of terror looks to be ending. The samba steady free flowing essence of Brazilian football has been lost, replaced by the dour, dark and disturbing image of a team faking their true identity. The showing against Argentina proved it all, we could’ve been beaten we could’ve been attacked but we were spared by Los Hermanos. They probably laughed at what has become of us, a team putting strength before skill defensive before attack. We may have won the Copa America, but in actual fact we really lost. We allowed Dunga to stay in charge and keep giving his same defensive mediocrity, the same bull shit we endured with Parriera before, and same bull shit we need to see less of. What I mean by Parriera is he was of the same school of thought, defence and counter attack (confederation cup, look what happened when no one performed at the World Cup), and that defensive crap of caution and being scared to lose has dogged us our traditions as Brazil. Watching Argentina give the Brazil team a reality check was what was needed, they mirrored us in mentality and it was obvious they weren’t being expansive by pushing too many men up, but in truth they still dominated the majority of play. Argentina played well within themselves, and Dunga’s Brazil had no answer, no prayer, just disorganisation of a useless midfield and a few moments of Robinho.

Well, if you want to talk about Brazil, then don’t do it here, do it on the Brazil blog where someone gives a shit.
Who cares how Brazil played, i’m only interested in how our boys did, Albo just ignore them.
I thought Riquelme played well, but we looked slow, like we were playing within ourselves. The game really picked up when Di Maria came on.

“John” and “Mane” are not the same person.

My comments on the game are that we created plenty of chances to have many more goals. I am very surprised that Aguero does not have a better killer instinct in front of the goal for the NT. Maybe he is to nervous. Also lets not forget to give our opponent props. They are a very strong and athletic team, It is weird for are players to be up against opponents with such speed and stregnth. Vamos Argentina.

Anybdy know what happened to Aguero’s fingers, his hand was heavily strapped?

Anyway, carry on.

same or different IP, when they’re not around we talk football without a problem.
When they come around it’s impossible to carry a conversation.

Let’s just return to the conversation then, and I’ll delete anything off topic.

Good news, the Argentina World Cup Blog was the 3rd most visited blog for the month of July on the WCB network.

Chritian, what were the other ones, like top 5 five most visited blogs on the WCB network.

Netherlands, Italy, France, then Argentina (we’re actually 4th, my bad), followed by Germany.

Thanks Day1star for the link. You did a superb job. You are among the finest.
I wasn’t sure how I’d watch the game without knowing the results ( I treasure suspense and suspense is what you gave us with this link).
Please keep it up with regard to the o0ther remaining games. Ahsante!

Um, are you joking Native Son?
Started a new thread with stats on the match. Sorry for all the new threads. I’d like to do a live blog on Sunday if anyone plans on watching the AUS game live. We got some great numbers during the Brazil qualifier, so it would be fun to repeat.

thanx.

CHristian,
I didn’t see your thread. I am serious. I watched the game without any knowledge of the results.
