Argentina Olympic Schedule

Looking forward to seeing Argentina defend it’s Gold Medal at this year’s Olympic Summer Games in Beijing? Well, the good news is that all the games will be available either through Telemundo, one of 7 NBC networks, online through NBC’s Official Soccer Portal, and even on a dedicated cable channel called the NBC Olympic Soccer Channel.

The bad news will come in trying to find your way through the muck, since what time you watch will depend on your cable and/or satellite provider, as well as the part of the country you reside in. Added to the confusion is NBC’s rather poorly laid out website listing the times, which often contradicts times posted on Telemundo’s site or Live Soccer TV. What you can rest assured of is that unless you plan on waking up very early in the morning, make sure to set up your TIVO’s in advance, or avoid the internet at all costs until you’re able to catch a replay. Here at the WCB, I’ll post the most updated information as it becomes available. Check back soon for any changes.

I am just wondering when the hell Barca will make a descition about this…..this is a disgrace! They must think about the player and what he is going through at the moment with all this….

He’s still in China, so we’ll know tomorrow, but i’m confident he will be playing in the Olympics.

Well, there may be some hope, with Werder Bremen and Schalke both allowing their players to participate in the Games, provided they receive some kind of insurance against any possible injury. No word yet from FCB…

here’s a link to Mascherano’s interview with FIFA:

He says the biggest threat to Argentina is Argentina itself.

Well I think the pressure is really on Messi and Barcelona now to get this resolved. My hope is that he will stay and play in the Olympics. If Barcelona force him back it could really hurt their relationship. I think the championship draw has put Barcelona in a very good position. If anyone shold be callin gtheir player back now it should be atletico with the tough draw that they have.

PEOPLE,

Don’t forget that the objective of this tournament is to optimize our attacking teamwork & collective organization around Riquelme. Messi is a player, not a team. He’s a rocket, a magnificent tool that can be used by Roman, the maestro, the enganche. I see things like this. No one is really essential in a team, except the enganche!

I’m sure Barca will let Messi play the Olympics. It would be a terrible management mistake. It’s better for Barca to see a tired but happy Messi coming back in Barcelona, than a fit but very angry/depressed player! I hope all this won’t deconcentrate our kids btw..

I’m so excited of tomorrow’s game! I hope we’ll all dance around our enganche, with our slow rythm, our possession strategy, making our opponent run, waiting for some space,…

VAMOS ARGENTINA!

in complete agreement with maxi. nicely put.

(it looks like Barca won’t recall Messi — CAS gave the international sides an out because they said that the players should not be considered invalid in the Olympics if they do play)

I don’t know if I was just football starved or what, but last night’s Independiente-Estudiantes match was really, really good. Nice fast paced attacking by Independiente, “El Bichi” Borghi definitely has this team well oiled and ready for all comers.

Check out my write up on last night’s match.

I watched it and it was a great game. I am sure that the team wouild be fine without Messi but if you can have him why not? lol Plus I want the world to see him play as the Olympics brings in a lot of viewers that might not watch club futbol .

Independiente and Estudiantes exciting? I think you are a little football starved :)

Actually, those are two very good attacking teams, so it’s not surprising. For the previous two campaigns I would have picked either one to win the title.

why is Tevez playing so much right now? already played 6 games and he’s taken a few brutal tackles in the past 2 games. I honestly thought he was out for the count today with that tackle the Juve player placed on him. then he’s got the NT friendly along with the charity shield. shouldn’t he resting? so much for the off season…

It happens every year. The football and a few other events (field hockey too) begin before the opening ceremonies.

Just opened a new thread for the match. Unfortunately I won’t be waking up early to watch, so I’ll catch the match later (even though it’ll be ruined, but oh well.)
