sure there is racism everywhere as we inherited it from the europeans but while some countries have fought it and made great strides against it like the united states which is ignorantly criticized by people who freeze in time to judge a country my experience both in argentina and with argentinians outside of argentina is that far too many portenos do hold a "better than thou" attitude and are racists and discriminate against others. even when I was in the provinces I noticed the dislike that the provinces have for those from buenos aires. a very similar situation exists in mexico where those from the capital, mexico df, are disliked elsewhere in the country because they also think themselves to be the cream of the continent. I have nothing but the best memories from my stay in argentina and from non-portenos I have befriended in canada and the united states.

Dear Jairo:

Are you implying that Argentina is the only Latin America country that has racist and arrogant people? Hmm...racism and arrogance exist everywhere my friend. Is your country of birth free of racist? I seriously doubt it. Stop stereotyping. Plus, Argentina has opened its doors to many other Latin America immigrants, such as Bolivians, Paraguayuans, Peruvians, etc., in case you didn't know. Brazil, with its enormous African population, has never had a black president. Blacks make much less money than whites there. Is the pot calling the kettle black here? People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw bricks.

Jairo and Alexa

I find it amusing that some americans make comments about racism and arrogance. Maybe we should ask the Afro americans and Indians what the fellow white americans did (and are still doing )to them to get a slightly clearer picture about racism and arrogance, before making ignorant remarks as above. I have heard ignorant remarks about South Africa from the same source.....

Check the scoreboard!!!!!!!!!

From a South African and Argentinian.....

But hey man, don't mind the haters.. Out youth owns the field right now so...

Shut down the counter, you shut Brazil down.. The new Brazilian players are'nt as good.. thats what it is. They never are i guess... no gold medals..? five world cups, and no gold medals. crazy stuff. And we spanked them in the u-21 wc.

>>>>we consider argentinians as racists and arrogants.>>>

That statement in itself sounds pretty racist and arrogant to me.

Um, I would say that in Latin America most people do want Argentina to win. We (meaning me as a non-Arg) know of Arg's rep as snobs and racists (whether fair or unfair), but when push comes to shove, we usually want any Latin American team to win over a non-Latin American team in big competitions. Or maybe that's just me and my family.
