I’m stuck at work so unfortunately I’m gonna miss the game, but I’ll see if I can get a torrent later tonight.

I’m confident we’ll see a new and improved squad tonight, who will be looking to impress their idol. A victory against the Scots may not count for much, but it’ll be a good start.

scoring a goal with one’s hand is just as deceitful as a player trying to get away a foul, and running the risk of permanently injuring a player. i even think it’s worse to commit a foul, at least with scoring a hand goal no body gets physically hurt.

so if you’re a player who has committed a foul, or someone who broke any rule, then you have no right what so ever to complain about that goal.

that’s what i have to say about the hand of god goal.

I don’t know much about Papa. But I have this feeling that he’ll be a good surprise tonight. Maradona has a total faith in him. A player who has the total confidence of his NT coach who is also considered as a myth, is something special. Papa might be at 200%.

Are you saying that Cavenaghi isn’t playing for a top club like Real so he must be ignored? It would mean that in the 90s, Batistuta should have been put on the bench because only playing for la Fiorentina? Alfio basile was thinking like this though.

I hope the medias will stop with the hand of god debate. It can only be negative for us especially because of the FIFA. Maradona is really good in communication, he hasn’t fallen in journalists traps. Too bad he’s not insisting on the fact that all this happened decades ago. He’s being almost perfect, though.

You don’t have to take things personaly. I didn’t want to seem rude. It was just some advice.

I believe we have excellent young defenders: Garay, Pareja, GONZALO, Samuel in some months, Coloccini, Fazio. It’s just a matter of choice depending of factors such as experience, ability to play in a 3-men defence, leadership, etc… Maradona is starting everything from zero so lets wait and see.

I’m sure our biggest problem that needs to be solved in priority is the lack of defending attitude of our offensive players that put our central defenders (& midfield) in risky positions. I’m positive Bilardo/Maradona will be able to solve the issue that is the cause of our Copa 2007 defeat and even more.

I am certainly not always negative, but you are right about me being always pessimistic and negative when it comes to our defence and our defenders. The reason is simply because I don’t see many solutions. Players like Heinze, Coloccini, Burdisso are simply not good enough to play for Argentina. Demichelis, Diaz and Gabriel Milito…I really don’t trust them 100% either. I miss Ayala, Sensini…even Chamot. I miss the old Samuel…and off course the old Heinze. I believe it is stupidity not to include Gonzalo and Garay in the squad. Gonzalo is a young and modern defender who should at least be given a chance. To answer your “questions”: I have seen Heinze as a left back, as centre back in 4-4-2 and as a left centre back in 3-5-2….the truth now is that he is nowhere near as good as he was some years ago(before the injury in Man Utd), that’s why someone else, like Gonzalo, should be given a chance, if we see Heinze as a centre back(like Diego does). I know Heinze knows how to play in a 3 men defence, but so does Samuel(he was a rock in Bielsa’s 3-4-3 system)…and if Samuel plays a few more good games for Inter, I think he should be called back.

I don’t care if you do not like that I am repeating myself. There not a cats chance in Hell that you can silence me just because I am not as positove as you and most of the others in here are. I criticize when I wanna criticize! And there is a reason for it. I am REALLY CONCERNED about our defence…and it is legal to be critical and criticize and show how concerned you are even if you do not see the any “great solutions to the problems” yourself, isn’t it?? This is often the case with me….I am not sure if there are any solutions to our defensive problems right now, this makes me so sad and I wanna share my sadness and desperation on this subject with you guys, even if I don’t have any great solutions. I just pray that our wonderful attackers will create enough magic and score more goals than we concede….
And I just wanna remind you one thing,MaxiLopez: You are not in a position where you can tell the others in here what to think, not to repeat them selves, or to be more optimistic…if some of us are a little pessimistic and depressed at times, like I am when it comes to our defenders, there is a reason for it!! No one wants to be pessimistic ans sad just for fun. Everyone repeats them selves at times in here…you always talk about Lucho and Cavenaghi…and that’s ok….but maybe you should ask yourself these questions: why don’t they play for big clubs in big leagues? Maybe there’s a reason that they don’t…….

Well, now it is said. Had to get that off my chest. No hard feelings. We know we all want the same thing, to see Argentina as WORLD CHAMPIONS again!

Seems that Maradona/Bilardo are starting from the beginning. A classical 4-4-2 with 2 creative, physical, fast forwards. This kind of formation will protect Heinze for sure. The squad will be compact thanks to Jonas & Maxi and we’ll conceed only 1 gol maximum. Too bad Di Maria is injured.

It’s half-time in the Maradona/Grondona battle concerning the “assistants show”. The mafioso is having a rest.

Diego Maradona told the press on Wednesday to look forward to big changes with the side compared to when Alfio Basile was in charge.

“You will see a change in the national team. When we begin to work, there will be tactical changes, of players; here the player will be spoilt, and very happy to be part of the national team, and they will defend this shirt like it deserves,” said Maradona.

Maradona claimed that Argentina’s objective is to win the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

“The path to follow is to finish in first place in the World Cup, not to be in the top four. Whether we manage to do this depends in great part on the players, with our support of course. But I don’t like the idea of settling with a top four finish.”

“El Diez” admitted that he is “enjoying” his new role, and that he had “been waiting for the opportunity for a very long time.”

Even if Lionel Messi wasn’t released by Barcelona for the friendly with Scotland, Maradona insisted he will play a key role for his side in the future.

“I want (Messi) him to have freedom to play; so that he can satisfy us on the field; for him to play for the team, but when it comes the time for him to finish, for him to do this, for him to be a team player, a player who can steer the team forward. For him to be the conductor,” he affirmed.

Maradona will officially debut as the coach of Argentina against Scotland in Hampden Park on Wednesday.
