I couldn't help but pay some attention to the sponsorship this page gets ("ads by Google").
One of them is "Dove hunting in Argentina" :-(

Sorry for the unrelated topic, but it makes me wanna puke, the sole notion that we are sponsored by the pigs from NRA on this page about football.
I know this blog needs all the help they can get, but I use my right to raise my voice against hunting and killing defenseless animals.
Down with hunting doves and any other animals on earth.

Correction: where it says Apertura, should say Clausura.

Thanks Day1star.

For those of you who were asking about the situation with Boca, it's a fact that Ischia is going to give priority to Copa Libertadores. But they didn't expect the bad results they've been getting in the Apertura. Usually the young Boca players come through for them. (Datolo is highly missed in the Boca lineup.)
So, for this next game against Huracán, Ischia goes back to their typical 4-3-1-2. Riquelme at the helm, Morel Rodriguez will play too. Palermo is also a starter. The only question mark is Palacio who has played very few minutes (and scored), but once again is ailing from the same old injury.

Lastly, Maradona, who these days almost only talks about his newborn grandson Benjamin, has mentioned that, for the upcoming qualies against Venezuela and Bolivia, is going to bring along a couple of new names to La Selección. (Dátolo?)
And mentioned once again that in the last friendly against France, Gago, Mascherano and Demichelis played "close to perfection".
Saludos

What a great day for futbol . Who is going to shine gago? Mascherano? Aguero? Tevez? Cambiasso? We have have Argys all over the place this year in the champions league. Here are my predications:

Bayern over Sporting
Inter over Manu
Villareal over Patanakos
Atletico over Porto
Barcelona over Lyon
Arsenal over Roma
RealMadrid over Liverpool
Chelsea over Juventas

The quarterfinals will have a lot of spanish vs english games. The only match up I see that does not have an Argy on the team is Arsenal vs Roma. I cant wait for real Madrid vs Liverpool. Gago vs Mascherano and lets see how Higuain plays in a big game. If Higuain shines in the champions league then Maradona will have to pay attention.

I've missed both of Boca's losses this season for obvious reasons, but if they don't beat Huracán next weekend, it might be all about the Copa this season. Still too early to tell to be honest, as this league, despite what many think, is VERY unpredictable.

Look for a Champions League post tomorrow.

AJNYHC, Toddutah, I just got home from Vegas, so I haven't been following football for the last days.
I know Riquelme has not been in form to play and Palermo is not ready quite yet.
I'll look for related info tonight and will keep you guys posted.
Where is MaxiLopez?

Maradona, speaking in Argentina for the first time since his team beat France 2-0 in Marseille, will take charge of his first competitive match on March 28 against Venezuela.

"I think the match in France was really helpful for us, the coaching staff and me," said Maradona, who led Argentina over Scotland 1-0 in November in his debut. "We instilled confidence in the players."

The former Argentina great, who led his country to the 1986 World Cup title, said three of his players stood out in the win at Stade Velodrome on Feb. 11, when Jonas Gutierrez and Lionel Messi scored the goals.

"There were players who bordered on perfection: (Fernando) Gago, (Javier) Mascherano and (Martin) Demichelis," said Maradona, who added he would add two or three more players to the squad for the match against Venezuela at River Plate Stadium.
