Argentina to Visit Brazil Tonight in Must Win Qualifier

UPDATE: Argentina Roster Announced
Abbondanzieri
Burdisso, Coloccini, Heinze, Zanetti
Mascherano, Gago, Jonás Gutiérrez
Riquelme
Messi, Cruz

La seleccion is in Belo Horizante, preparing ahead of tonight’s clasico against Brazil in the 6th fixture of World Cup qualifying for the 2010 World Cup. You can watch live on JumpTV at 8:50 PM ET.

After Brazil’s loss to a 10-man Paraguay over the weekend, and Argentina’s weak display against Ecuador at home, in which they just did salvage a point thanks to a last minute goal from Rodrigo Palacio, both teams will be looking to get their campaigns back on track, as well as stoping the critics who have blasted both squads the last few days.

For Argentina, the task will be much more difficult, with Juan Sebastian Veron out due to injury, Javier Mascherano still not confirmed, and Martin Demichellis unavailable due to yellow card accumulation. Coco Basile has yet to annnounce his starting XI, but the player that will have the most focus on will be Juan Roman Riquelme, who after an unusually invisible performance against Ecuador, will be looking to redeem himself.

So we’re hours away from the biggest match in world football, with two classic rivals playing for pride and honor amidst a cloud of questions surrounding both. In other words, these are 90 minutes that are not to be missed. Check back for the starting lineups and news prior to kickoff.

If that is indeed the lineup Basile finally got the hint of starting a #9. Who’s going to cover for Riquelme? Is Gago Riquelme’s deputy - like Lucho?

Riquleme will be man marked & needs to move more to create space we are too slow again side to side.

Good run by Gutierrez created a slight opening. We need more of that.

Scoreless - truly amazing….Argentina could have done better! Riquelme sucked! As did Cruz! Hey at least they did not repeat the copa america. Though I think this game (with all the miss opps) was harder to watch.
