I’m from the United States. I feel in love with Argentina during the 82 World Cup and was so incredibly happy in 86. I can’t wait for this year. I think we are going to win it all!

  • gino

I’m from Moreno Valley, California U.S.A., I’m not Argentinian but from Mexican descent. Ever since the World Cup in 78 when I was only 7 yrs old, I became a big fan for the Argentine team and ever since I am always dreaming that Argentina are world cup champions once again. They are my favorite team in sports along with the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Lakers.

  • Razzle

I’m from Pakistan, immigrated to USA. Fell in love with Argentina during the 86 world cup. Every time the commentator would speak the name ‘Maradona’ a thrill would go through me.

Along with Argentina I dearly hope the USA does well. These are both very exciting teams.

  • skywalker

I’m from Toronto, Canada or Dubai, UAE (travel back and forth between the two).

My neighbour was Argentine and since both my countries (birth + residence) in most likely hood will not qualify for any WC, Argentina became my team of choice…

The sky is blue and the snow is white. GOD is a fan of Argentina. And as such, we’re sporting the right colors… now trying to explain to you why Brazil have won WCs based on the above, I have no answer.

  • Jonathan

great post. I love hearing about other Argie fans…

My parents are both from Argentina, and I was born in Philadelphia.
Grew up in South Texas and now live in Los Angeles, where there’s a big Argentine community.

I’ve followed Argentina since the ‘86 world cup, when I was 8…

This year, I’m going to Germany to watch our group games… and also pull for the USA!

  • http://B619A Pugnate

I love Argentinian football. Been following them and supporting them rabidly since I was a kid.

I am from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Canada. :)

  • http://chavezravine.blogspot.com Marcin

I am from Poland and keeping my fingers crossed for Argentina since 1990. I hope this year’s team goes all the way in Germany!

  • ajNYHC

Argentina supporter since 1986 – Nationality – Indian, Current country of residence – USA.

  • saswata

i’m frm india..i terribly love Argentina & i have only one team called Argentina..I wish to win this WC-2006 by my favourite team..but i’m a bit confused as the whole world is keeping faith on Brazil & England..Nobody is talking account about my most favourite team Argentina..i donno why?people dream more with Ronaldinho kaka Adriyano Ronaldo or Beckham Gerrard Lampard Owen Rooney rather than Messi Tevez Riquelme Aimer Crespo….can anybody answer this why?

  • Fernie

My parents are from El Salvador but I was born and raised in the United States …. I loved argentina since I watched soccer with my family as a little kid I remember watching Maradona score and I was like this is my favourite team.

  • ajNYHC

Don’t pay attention to babblings from morons – I mean fans of other teams. Support ARG. Who cares if Brazilians and the English players get more spotlight than Arg. players? Are you even surprised considering FIFAs corrupt idealogies? I mean to totally omit Riquelme from the podium @ the FIFA awards defies all sorts of rational explanation. Just the way is meant to be.

    Argentina all the way!

  • MalaysianArgentinian

I’m 31, from malaysia… been an Argentina fan since 1986. DIEGO is GOD…

Malaysian guys my in my age bracket, i.e. 30-35, are usually Argentina fans. Hell, we saw GOD play football!!!!! That pretty much screws up your perspective forever… I think there are more Argentina fans than Brazil fans in Malaysia. But still too many England fans… because of that stupid EPL. That’s gonna change this summer!!!!

I actually got into fistfights with Malaysian Brazil fans before!!! Went to the Brazil-Malaysia friendly held in Malaysia in 2002 (right before the 2002 World Cup) wearing a albiceleste jersey! I was not alone lemme tell you… there was quite a number of Argentina fans there, booing the Banana squad.

Was there in the stadium when Aimar-Riquelme-Samuel-Franco et al lifted the 1997 YWC in Malaysia… happiest day in my life so far (post 1986). Watched Aimar run circles around Owen led England in the 1997 YWC 2nd Round (I think). Then watched Scaloni score a scorcher against Brazil in the Quarters of the 1997 YWC. Better than orgasm man!!!!!

  • http://none Todd Utah

Hello I am from Salt Lake City Utah in the United States. I am 39 and started playing soccer when I was 6 years old. I was one of the first in my area to play. I fell in love and have played seriously for 33 years. When I turned 19 I went on a Mormon mission and they called me to go to Buenos Aires , Argentina for two years. I showed up in June of 1986. I watched the Mano de Dios Goal from a little shack in downtown Buenos Aires. I love the Argentine people and loved playing pick up games of soccer once a week for two years. I came back with skills that I had never had. I get all my familiy and friends together and we all cheer for Argentina and the USA. Dale Argentina! My wife is from El Salvador and has adopted Argentina as her favotite team as well. Go messi!

Well mine is a little bit complicated. I am from Armenian descends, being born in Iran. Then I moved to Austria and now I live in Los Angeles. I fell in love with Argentina when I was 8 years old during the 90 World cup.I remember my most favorite at that time was Caniggia. I had his posters all over my wall. Ever since I am a diehard Argentine fan. I have cried with them, laughed with them. I follow Argentine news, and anything related to Argentina. I am thinking about visiting Argentina in the near future. Unfortunately I have not really met any Argentine here in Los Angeles. But deep down in my soul I feel 100% Argentine.
Long Live Argentina and Its Fans
By the way If any of you guys live in Los Angeles do you know any where that we could actually gather and watch World cup with other Argentine Fans( Let me know please)

  • Debasish Dutta Roy

Great to see all of you…

I am originally from India but now live in India. Fell in love with Argentina since 86 WC. We have a group of friends from school and we all are great fans of Argentina. We have always called them as “we” and never realized that that is actually not my country. Now it doesn’t matter. If ever India gets good in football and reaches the WC and plays against Argentina, perhaps I will support Argentina.

GREAT TO MEET YOU ALL!!! THIS IS REALLY SO AMAZING!

Will the argentine team ever now.

  • Debasish Dutta Roy

To be precise I live in Boston now. Is there anyone from Boston???

  • ajNYHC

Anyone from NYC? Would love to catch games in Manhattan with fellow ARG supporters.

  • Gardo

Born and raised in Buenos Aires but now live in Seattle. I bleed blue and white, always have and always will.

  • Jonathan

Hi my name is Jonathan and I am from the USA (nyc), I am 27 years old and a fan of argentina. I have been a soccer fan since 86 watching soccer with my dad who is from argentina, and naturally have followed argentina, and batistuta became my favorite player. I really enjoy this site since I speak english and there are not that many good sites that I have found to find information on argentina, and converse with argentine fans.

To ajnyhc would love to catch some games in nyc with any argentina fans.

To Jonathan so besides the name we have other things in common also

  • carrie

I have always been aware of FIFA’s strategie regarding Argentina. But I have no idea what their freaken problem is. Do you guys have any idea??? Let me know please

  • Peter

I am living in Toronto, Canada…..my Dad is from Argentina…..I have been a supporter all my life !!!!! I travelled with the Ontario soccer team to Argentina when I was 15, and we played against the Under 15 Boca, independiente/ferro carril teams. We beat the boca “juniors” !!! hehe. We played right before the professional first division match at the independiente stadium….

Anyhow, all my family loves argentina !!! I never saw my Dad cry, until Burruchaga scored the 3rd goal in ‘86.

I’m with Argentina all the way !!!!

    Peter (Canada)

  • Antonio

That is when you realize that Diego Armando Maradona was the best player in the world. When so many people are still cheering for his team after that incredible 86 cup! Grande Diego!

  • phillip

I am from toronto canada too like peter(he’s my brother). Argentina is the best. Last world cup when they lost I stopped watching the rest of the tournament(lost its appeil).

    Go argentina

  • Tom

Fell in love with ARG soccer during my first visit to that country in 2004, when I went to a Boca Juniors vs. River Plate game (Boca WON!). Have been back to BsAs four times since. Beautiful country, fabulous people and exhilarating game!

  • Cancer

I have been following this blog for a while but never had a chance to contribute or comment.
All you guys are great, and there is no better place on the web to follow the Argentine team.
I am a fanatical fan of argentine footbal and fell in love with team (and a certain Diego Armando Maradona) in 1986 as a 9year old kid. I am an Indian living in the US.
Last time I had a miserable world cup, but this time I am sure we are going to win it all.
Vamos Argentina!!!! lets get the world cup!!!

  • majed

i’m from saudi arabia. i also fell in love with argentina in ‘78 i was 7 years old. i loved everything about them especially their uniforms. i only follow them and the clubs they play for.

  • Sanchez

I’m from San Diego, CA….been a fan since I was born. My dad iS Argentino from La plata down the street from Boca. I HOPE WE WIN!

  • king

I think im the only one whos nationality is Bangladesh. I was born in the UK but my parents were born in Bangladesh. (I know it shows a USA flag on the bottom of this message but I dont know how to change it).

Actually I used to hate Arg before, at both the 98 and 02 world cups. However, after starting to watch some argie matches and seeing players like aimar, saviola, dallesandro, riquelme, etc I started to
understand that futbal is not all about fancy skills and adverts by those brazilians. I started to appreciate players with less showboating, like mascherano and cambiasso and appreciated quality team goals. Nowadays im obssesed with argie futbal. Even if one argie international is playing for a club team I will watch the entire match because of that one player.

Overall, they have a physical disadvantage, so technically they are they have to be the best, which they are. They all have strong mentalities and an enormous passion that cant be found anywhere else.

To make it short. ive been converted by the beauty of argentinian football.

  • Omar Galiano

I was born in Chile, though I now live in the States. Argentine soccer is by far the best in the world. I believe that Argentina has had its fair share of misfortunes which have prevented it from winning more World Cups. I was bit shocked to find out that Zanetti was left out of the team, but I know that Argentina has the players to make it to the final and if the stars are aligned, Argentina should win the World Cup.

  • Alex

1st generation U.S. citizen, family immigrated from Argentina. Been following them since 1978 (was only five but still see Kempes’ goal in my dreams). Also replay each WC final win (Kempes in 78, Burruchaga in 86) and loss (still angry at Brehme’s penalty in 1990, Ortega for Holland in 1998, Owen’s dive in 2002). Vamos vamos Argentina!

  • John

I was born in Taiwan and moved to Vancouver, Canada about 16 years ago (I’m 31 now). I guess you can add Taiwan to the list! Been a huge fan of Argentina ever since my dad woke me up (I was in Grade 5) in the middle of the night to watch Maradona in ‘86. I really had no idea what was going on at the time but I’m glad for what he did.

Went to Japan to see all of their group games in ‘02 – saw grown men (of all nationalities) openly crying in the stands at the last game vs Sweden. Will never forget that experience.

Had a pair of tickets to all of their group games in Germany but sold them because I couldn’t find a travel buddy – wish I had discovered this blog earlier!

Anyway – if anyone in Vancouver wants to watch the games and cheer on Argentina together please let me know! ~

    Vamos Argentina!

  • Macwyn

An argentina fan from the WC86,when i was just 4 years old, I had my most momerable moments with the Argentina team when they lost in the finals to Germany in WC90 and I was crying all through the night and the next morning. Nearly had a heart attack at age 8.
Over the years have followed Argentinian players more than the national team. I have strong hopes for them this world cup but will miss Zanetti, the Wall. Saviola is magical in front of the goal and Messi is mesmerising..
    Go Argentina..
Am an Indian for your reference

SYRIA!!! Currently living in Canada. My father is from Argentina.

I dont know if it will surprise you but Syria has a HUGE argentinian community. There is like an entire city full of people with Argentine blood.

Remember that idiot president Menhem ;) He is from Syria.

  • Julian

    Well isn’t Carlos Menem Syrian???

Hi guys i’m Julian, and I have posted here a couple of times. I also live in Toronto, Canada. I noticed there are a few Torontonians here, that’s so cool! Well my background is half Argentine, and half Portuguese, but I was raised purely like an Argentine! Don’t ask why! I am literate in ‘castellano’, and pure HINCHA de BOCAAAAA!! :) You guys are going to get a taste of Rodrigo Palacio!!! Vamo vamos Argentinaaa…

  • farey

im from maldives.guyz have u heard about maldives.arg has been my favourite nation since 1998 when i was 14.most of the maldivian are fans of argentina.

  • Sudhi

Last but not the least, this is Sudhi Upadhyaya from India right now working in US. I grew up in a very strict boarding school and we were never allowed to see TV. And only once during our whole stay they allowed us to watch TV that was the WC and first thing we saw was Maradonna. We like the rebel in him. I can see myself in his attitude on field.

I will give ***** to ARG. Please win the world cup.

  • Eddie

From Rosario and now i live in portland, i’ll be screaming for the albieceleste from the northwest!!

  • Ed

I am a real argentinaman. Yes, it’s true. I don’t support any other teams. I like Roma (batigol), Valencia (Aimar,Ayala), Boca (Tevez), Chelsea (Veron, Crespo), but I dunt givva fook if they lose. I only care about the argentinians :) Vamos Argentina. Vamos a ganar!!

  • setlur

we will win…. I am from india, we have a country of a more than a billion people and we can’t make it to the world cup… so there are millions of passionate football lovers who support all the other teams.

I think there are more fans of certain teams in india than the entire population of that country!

I have been an argen fan since i can remember watching football…

  • http://argentina.worldcupblog.org JP

    Diego: Great Post, great responses…

ajNYHC: Call or go to Novecento in the Village. They used to show Futbol de Primera every Sunday upstairs – I’d be surprised if they couldn’t hook you up.

Carrie: You probably are the only girl on the blog, glad you’re here…

For my part, I’m Brit/Arg born in Buenos Aires, living in California. When I was 10, got home one day to where my grandfather had ‘a surprise for me’: Going w/ him to Argentina vs Holland in the ‘78 Final. Unreal to say the least…army helicopters with guys hanging out the sides, confetti like a white-out blizzard. Kempes, Luque, Fillol & Pasarella…It was a total euphoria that kept the country awake for 3 days.

  • http://B619A Pugnate

I think you are the only girl here probably. Though sometimes lol can go on about Zanettia like one… hehe just kidding dude. ;)

So to all the Argentinian nationals… I have always wanted to visit Argentina. How is the tourism industry? My friend went as part of his university exchange group.

He came back after 6 months saying he didn’t want to leave. And he doesn’t even like football. According to him (and I quote) “Argentina really friendly people, the most beautiful girls, fantastic sunny beaches and great food.”

He loved it so much he is looking to teach English there. Oh and he kept talking about Argentinan BBQ.

I really want to go to Argentina. :P

  • pekerman

am from saudi arabia….i became an argentina fan after i saw maradona with napoli kicking the s**** out of milan. it was a recorded match on the saudi tv late at night …man was maradona popular at that time in saudi….you know that they made an arabic song about maradona i don’t know the singer but he was an egyptian….my second memory was the 1990 final…man i would like to kill that referee that gave that penalty…..since then argentina and me !!!! had a bad memory in each world cup

honestly speaking although am a big fan ..i hate ortega guts…if he wasn’t that stupid…argentina might won 1998…anways it is a history…..lets make a new history and win the WC…..GO ARGENTINA

  • ARGENTINAOVERALL

Greece. The European champions wish to argentina: Win the trophy!!!!!!! If i had to choose between argentina and greece i would chose ARGENTINA.

  • GreekFan

Greece! The european champions support Argentina to take the trophy. Go on!

  • Jeeshan

Argentina all the way! A fan from Bangladesh

  • Rune

I am from Norway. Fell in love with Argentina and Diego Maradona in 1986 when I was 9 years old. Since that I`ve been completely obsessed with Argentine football. Here in Norway most people support England, because in Norway the TV companies have been showing English football for almost 40 years. I hate the England National team almost as much as I love Argentina. Most Norwegians who doesn`t support England support Brazil. So,there you go…I can assure you that I AM THE NUMBER ONE ARGENTINA FAN IN NORWAY. Off course I have my favourite clubs (Boca, Real, Inter, Tottenham, Brann)but I really support the Argentina national team more than I support any club. I can barely sleep these days with the World Cup comming up. This is the biggst events in my life really. In World Cup 2002 I had to take sleeping pills to sleep at night. I cryed for days when they were elimenated.
My all time favourite player will always be Maradona. As number two, Caniggia. In September, both Diego and Cani will come to Norway and play a “Showball” match.
    I will be there!!!

  • http://France wamdiego10

Hi, I’m french from France, No one in my family is from Argentine. I love Argentina because they’re much more in love with football. In France people are not sportmen, they think they are since 98 victory, and that’s what made me angry (not the victory) but the reaction of the french who thought they won whereas they criticized french football and football himself before the world cup has been organised.
Saying”World cup in France is bullshit”
Then France won and they changed their mind, but in fact nobody here believed in the victory, they made fun of me when I predicted the victory, then since the victory they support the team. It made me feel bad, cheated by the french, a real fan supports the team all the time, not only when they win… Moreover, most of the French don’t understand football, that’s why I selected another team, the team who seems to deserve support the most, who has the most passion, is Argentina.
Although I’ve never seen Diego played in live (I’m 25) I love Argentina players from past present and future. Thanks to video game to enable us to create fantastic games between brasil 70′ and Argentina 86′, thanks for the dream Argentina brings me.

I hope a Victory this year, I hops Messi’s the One, we all expect a lot from him, I think he and Argentina will make a great WC, Messi will show us whether he’s on Diego’s way or not.

    AR-GEN-TINA !! AR-GEN-TINA !!

  • Vick

    hey all,

Posting here for the first time, and I’m from India. Die hard argentine fan. I also love team orange (holland) and support any underdogs in general. Cannot stand brazil and the big time crappy delusions they have of playing the beautiful, clean game (with the exception of 1982 – zico & socrates).
I can’t wait to see the argentine attack (tevez , messi), and the creative midfield at work (aimar hopefully, riquelme, lucho ). Defense is a bit suspect according to me. I’d have loved it if we had another complete, physical , striker in the mold of a zlatan ibrahimovic (crespo or cruz hopefully can fit the bill). 3 disappointments:
    1. No aguero- brilliant dribbler and finisher ( takes unexpected shots on goal like tevez, but looks even more nimble). Should have been taken.
    2. No Zanetti – whether he fits the “system” or not, a player of his class, leadership, skill and form would have been a boon for any team. Heck, he could have even come on as a substitute and made all the difference, and willed the team to a win.
    3. Holland and Argentina in the same group! These 2 teams make up my dream finals – a test of true attacking skills , creativity and open game!

I have no relation to any argentinians, neither have I even met one. But it’s world cup season again and I guess football awakes the most passion amongst people. It’s the only team i ever supported. The love affair started with maradonna, juggling the ball before world cup kickoff 1990. I was just seven. Anyone remember that?! Then there was the dribble that split the defence and destroyed brazil…and since then it’s been an irrational support for a team i have no allegiance with!

UK viewers, anyone with Sky? Channel 442 (espn classics) has a special about maradonna from 6-7 pm tonight.

  • Nick

Great idea to share information about ourselves…I am from India, living in New Delhi, but I lived in Argentina a long time ago, and came to love the country, the people, the food, the tango…and of course, the football! The world is richer because of Argentina, and the same goes for Argentine football!!

  • shandy

im from trinidad and i follow argentina since 1978….when they go to play i feel like my country is playing…seeiing the argentine team esp with lionel messi and tevez brought a tear to my eye..

  • mightie

i m addicted to argentina since wc’94 when i was 13, the first time ever i saw argentina losing was against bulgaria. my mama noticed that i was almost crying to the defeat as if my own country lost! but one thing is for sure “i turn into an argentine when argetnina games takes place”. here in UAE there are lot of argentine fans i noticed it during WYC uae 2003 in the stadium while supporting & even after argentina victory in the 2nd round over egypt the streets and roads where covered in blue & white colors celebrating the win with cars honking & pple singing outside the stadium.
i am from dubai, united arab emirates and i love argentina a lot!
    yalla! riquelme…

  • ingrid

I’m from Malta and i’ve been supporting them since I first saw them playing in Italia 90. my favourite players are Aimar, Ayala, Sorin and Riquelme which I think is the best player in the world. really hope he will make the diffenece in Germany so they can win the 3rd title

  • http://inndwelling.blogspot.com Berny

Born in Buenos Aires, but moved to Miami here in the US when I was 5.

  • argiebargie

I was very little at USA 94 and only really watched Maradona on videos that made me a fan.It all really started at 1998 in France. I am from england born and bred and i am an avid River Plate fan. I have relatives in Argentina even though im not an argentine myself.

Maradona is only a part of the reason i support argentina. I truly believe we play the best football of all nations after Brazil. Thats why were popular. We are mesmerising when we are on form.

    Vamos, vamos Argentina,
    vamos, vamos a ganar,
    que esta barra quilombera,
no te deja, no te deja de alentar

  • Luke

im english and i like argentina cause the mentality of english football makes me sick: kick it hard, run fast, kick it hard, run fast, head it, kick it hard. Its shit. no skill, all heart. Also maradona is the daddy, easily the best player ever. mainly because he was streets ahead of his peers with a massive coke habit!!! maradona does coke and shoots journos, pele cant get it up. need i say more??

  • Steve

I am Australian – my parents were born in Argentina and i’ve always loved Argentinian futbol.

I was distraught after their early knockout last world cup and am hoping for big things from them this time round with their incredible lineup.

Live near an army base and there is a HUGE english contingent here- think I’m the only argie here but wear my colours proudly. Does anyone know where I can get the new away jersey in kids sizes for my son?- already have the home.

    Argentina Campeon

wish Bati would have won it.

  • argiebargie

I’m coming to Canada, Toronto with some friends in June. Its good to know their will be other argie supporters their to cheer them on in bars and clubs.

  • Melanie

I’m from Berlin/Germany. I like the team of Argentina more that that of Germany, because they play nice football.

I am very sorry for German Lux, who is my favorite player, because he is not in the Team and for the death of his brother in January.

  • Farshad

I live in Lebanon but originally from Iran… so please place both countries on the list… for I am sure there are plenty of Arg fans in both countries…!! i was 14 when i watch Diego score against England in 1986, i fell in love with his magic ever since. now, he is part of my past, my current passion and I hope I can tell about him to my children.
I am a fanatic Argentinean since then…!!! Albicelestes go go go.. peace.

  • Jonathan

Carrie and those of you who want to watch Argentina games in Los Angeles…

There is a very big Argentine population.

A small little diner called “Corientes 3-4-8″ in Tarzana/Encino is located on Oxnard and Reseda.
Great empanadas and they will have 2 plasma tvs.

There is a larger “mercado” on Van Nuys and Sherman Way in Van Nuys. It’s called Buenos Aires Mercado. Not a lot of parking but great people, great food and small tvs. You’ll get a great Argentine atmosphere.

There is an Argentine club in Burbank. I don’t have the exact address, but I watched a few pay per view friendlies here.
Big space, and friendly people. I recommend it too!

I’m from Belgium. I became fan of Argentina some year and a half ago. They’re my favourite national team, so I hope of course they win the World Cup! Vamos Argentina :)

Hey i’m a Jamaican fan i have been supporting Arentina from 1982 as a little boy. Jamaicans are predominantly Brazil supporters but i can tell you there is also alot of Argen. supporters as well.

  • Matt

  • deepak

    Hey,
i’m from India and started to learn football when maradona was in peak. So automatically, i became a fan of argentina.

  • Tanvir

I’m from Bangladesh and watched Maradona score those famous goals against England in ‘86 on LIVE T.V. I live in USA and play midfielder/striker in a local league with the same footballing style and philosophy as Diego. Imitation is after a nice form of flattery.

BTW, what’s up with MalaysianArgentinian calling Maradona god ? I didn’t expect that from a Malaysian.

  • Quinn

American! My father is also from ARGENTINA!!

  • Quinn

VAMOS ARGENTINA!! Vamos a ganar la copa!!! I’m also a river plate fan, VAMOS RIVER!!!

  • Marcos

    Viva Juan Roman Riquelme!

A villareal fan that wants argentina to win merely for the gratitude we have for him!

    Add Spain on that list!!

  • Juang

    Hong Kong for Argentina!
    Screw brazil, go Tevez!

  • Hanoi Hilton

I’m CBC (Canadian-born Chinese). Caught Albiceleste fever in ‘86, watching that classic game against England with my dad. I basically support any pro team with Argentines in the squad.

Now teaching English in Hanoi Vietnam. thinking of calling the Arg. embassy here to see if they’re organizing anything events for the games.
    Vamos Argentina!

(btw, what does “Dale” Argentina mean?)

  • Farshad

    Dear Tanvir from Bangladesh,
I am in no position to defend “MalaysianArgentinian” for mentioning Diego as God. But I only want to say that he meant no offence to others!! Acutally his words were very funny and not meant to insult.
    ciao

  • James

I am from Malta. I’m backing Argentina because I’m an Inter fan and there are so many Argentinian players in that team that I fell in love with the Argentina squad!

  • http://B619A Pugnate

Really now we’ve all been enjoying ourselves and having fun. Let’s stick to Argentina and football and nothing else. It isn’t fun watching anyone be stupid or racist or both.

    Let’s stick to football guys.

    thanks

  • Nick

I 100% agree with Pugnate. I am from India and I am on this blog because I want to share my passion for Argentine football with others. Sudhi, if you are here to criticise others based on their nationality, then please leave.

  • Johnny Eagles

I am English and have been in love with the Argentine National Team since I first liked football, during the ‘94 world cup.

It is so good to hear about so many other people of other nationalities who share my passion for Argentina…

I am hated by many in England for not supporting the England National Team (there is, erm, a little ‘history’ between the two countries).

One chap I used to work with once physically threatened me when I told him!

And when we knocked England out in ‘98 I had to hide for a few days – not even my friends spoke to me.

But I will always love Argentina! ¡VAMOS ARGENTINA!

  • farey

pla add maldives to the list.around 40% of entire population of maldives is arg fans.vamos argentina!

  • mightie

“sudhi” – u shld be ashamed of ur comments, how do u know what others hav in their heart?.
since everyone is busy expressing their love/passion for argentina as an argentine and u hav some weird and out of the topic things to add, plz dont make a mess.

as “pugnate” said Let’s stick to football.

  • http://B619A Pugnate

hahaha Johnny Eagles you made me laugh. I am quite amazed that you being English love Argentinian football.

Actually the rivalry that was between both teams has toned down considerably.

One of my favorite matches of all time was when Argentina knocked out England on penalties at the France ‘98. Our whole family was watching and supporting Argentina, and we were all shocked when Beckham took a kick at Simeone.

At the time of the incident none of us had any idea the fuss it would create in the days to come.

Anyway a good page to read up on the rivalry:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentina_and_England_football_rivalry

  • Tanvir

Aww, all the love between the Khans and Raam Laals over here. So the Siachen mountain warfare and nuclear stand-offs are water under the bridge eh ? See what love for Argentinian football does to tense relations ? Go Argentina, go Maradona.

  • farey

i wanna add more nations to the list.

  • Martijn

First of all, pretty cool man. alot of people. second, im not an Argentinian fan, but im a pure dutch boy who supports his country. Im just excited about the match on the 21st. I am a Kenyan citizen residing in Silver Spring USA.

I first saw Argentina play during the 1986 World Cup as a young man and since then, it’s been a love affair with your country.

I truly hope that my favourite team will win the world cup this year.

Kenya has never been to the World Cup but that doesn’t make me feel left out. You guys have always represented my hopes.

It’s been a frustrating 20 years. Let’s hope Pekerman will deliver.

  • ArgieGirl

I am impressed reading you guys!!
I am from Argentina living in the Washington area. I love football but as some of you said “They all have strong mentalities and an enormous passion that cant be found anywhere else” This is a 100% true and that energy is what everybody needs and love to receive from the players! We become addicted to it!!!
Let’s be one! United by the passion!!!

    Argentina corazooooon!!!!!
    Vamos Cheeeee!!!!

I am from Goa in India and i fell in love with Argentina during the 1990 WC when i was a 7 year old. I cried when they lost. And I have been a fan of Argentina ever since.

  • Malatesta

Hola! I’m Argentinian and living in Buenos Aires. I’m amazed at the wide support “la selección nacional” recieves abroad. Never thought Argentina could be so popular, in fact we think of ourselves as unpopular among south-americans and so during the WC’s, because people usually roots for the underdogs, with the exception of Brazil and it’s unbearable marketing… Brazil and afterwards England (long after)are the intimate rivals (and victims) of our futbol. By no means as intense as those, against Uruguay it’s a classic match since before, they used to dominate in futbol too and play very frequently. It became the most played international match in history! I don’t follow any club and don’t watch much futbol besides the national team. Now, i’m already eager for the WC. Saludos and hope we win together!

  • http://lynnchen.anyp.cn Lynn

I am from China.the moment I fell in love with soccer , I fell in love with soccer. For me ,Argentina is soccer ,or vice versa. Best withes for our team!

  • Akbar

I live in Switzerland (it’s already on the list), and I think I’m more of an Argentina backer than a fan, in the sense that I predict that they will win the World Cup this year (I’m predicting a South American final).

In my opinion, a squad that can choose between Saviola, Crespo, Tevez and Messi in attack, as well as the likes of Riquelme, Aimar, Cambiasso and Mascherano in attack, and Sorin, Heinze, Ayala and Coloccini in defence, will definitely rip through some of these teams, even if only half the players are functioning correctly.

Argentina’s potential has been shown through their players all around Europe and South America, and the team has proved itself in its qualification campaign, in the Confederations Cup and in the Copa America (Albiceleste getting better by the year) .

Argentina will get the revenge for Peru ‘04 and Germany ‘05 in Germany ‘06.

  • Wiseguy

Hi all, My parents are from Argentina, I was born in NYC. But lived in Argertina from ‘74-80. I was in Mendoza when the ‘78 World Cup took place, and had the pleasure of celebrating along with the whole country of Argentina, when they won the world cup then. I will never forget that!.

Let me know – for all those non-argentinians that root for the albicelestes: un abrazo grande…

  • Daniel

From Uruguay but since we’re not in…no comment. Argentina won me over with Santo Maradona in ‘86. For all the people in New York write me back if Queens is to far to go see a game and lets all meet for the Argentina matches at Nevada Smiths!!! playasolmar@hotmail.com

  • Calciatore Somalo

I am from Somalia, I became a fan ever since the 1978 World Cup when I watched the game with my father as a kid, he was a great fan of Pasarela, Bertouni, Luke, Kempes and the rest of the 78 team. I was even hooked when I saw Maradona display his skills in Mexico 86 and of course the Italian league in the 80’s. Good luck Argentina… And hard luck for Zanetti.

Hi all, and to Carrie I would like to proffer the following complications rivaling yours: born in Bs As, but of German parents and once married to a Brasilian. Nevertheless, the emotional connection to Argentina is ineluctable and fierce. And regarding your question about the only female fan, my present wife is from Australia and she will root for AR as soon as AU is eliminated! Moreover, we live in LA and I will try to find a place where the game is being played and let ya know! Maybe David could help us in this pursuit…

Hi, I’m from Boston, and I’ve been a fan of Argentina soccer for years. I guess I was hooked by their bold style and skill. I love Batigol (Oh, I WISH his last WC didn’t end so badly), Maradona (even though my English boyfriend can’t even stand to talk about him!), Sorin, and El Burrito (Yeah, I know he screwed up against Holland in WC, but I can’t help loving the guy – he’s such a brat.) I would love to know where to find other fans near Boston to watch tomorrow’s match (email me at alexiscc2000@yahoo.com if you know).

    Vamos, vamos, Argentina!

  • JLT

I was born in Rosario, Argentina, moved to Antigua and Barbuda when I was six and have been back to Argentina several times since. Tomorrow’s game will be very stressful. Won’t get a wink of sleep tonight. We need Messi in there at the beginning of second half. WATCH OUT GERMANY!

  • El_Durco_Biju

It’s very sad. We were eliminated of the WC. But there is no problem. The players as Agüero, Messi, Tevez, and others that apearing, will be in his better moment in the next WC.

Well seeing as Ireland didn’t make it, I had a few choices. Support the teams that prevented us from winning the world cup i.e. switzerland and france, or cheer on the argies. Well i chose to cheer on the argies and support les blues, luckily there was no divided loyalty. Argies played some good football, reminded me of watching ireland play against France that time in stade de france when we should have beaten les bleus. It didn’t happen for us and it didn’t happen for the argies. Its just the way life goes. Win some, lose some; but always play beautiful football.
