What’s the Formation?

May 18th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | 25 Comments »

I was reading this article about Crespo and it kind of struck me about how many questions are still up in the air about this team. We know the players, but now Pekerman has to decide who is going to play and which formation will give us the best chance of beating Holland, Serbia and Montenegro and Ivory Coast. We’ve got so much firepower up front, how do you go about maximizing this without leaving the defense vulnerable. What do you think? What’s the best formation for this team?

i’m not sure about crespo….i love the idea of messi and tevez in there with riquelme AT THE LEAST

and at the most i would love to add aimar..

that would be a true argentine team…

and if i wanted a striker in the zone, poacher style, killer type..well i would have to put cruz over crespo! crespo has been a sub for over a year at chelsea..meanwhile cruz has been rocking it in italy….

so its real tough cause i want to be offensive minded but at the same time i can’t be too offensive minded..

but to me crespo would be on the bench…i suppose people will say aimar can’t be there with riquelme at the same time.. so i say ok and go with cruz, tevez, messi and riquelme…. that means you have really three strikers and 1 midfielder or i could play tevez or messi as a midfielder..they can play that position…then the two other midfielders have to be what i call ball recuperators or of contention (more stopperlike) and then four defenders with i guess ayala, sorin and heinze sure.. and then you neeed mascherano in the midfield… the goalie i don’t care about

that leaves two open slots ..one defense and one midfielder with a defensive bent

and if riquelme is not plugged in i would like to replace him with aimar early..like beginning of second half but that won’t happen because riquelme is riquelme..but have seen him dissapear in games..

but i ain’t no coach..just a humble fan

I think the best formation for this team would be 4-2-3-1:

Ustari/Franco

Coloccini–Ayala/Burdisso–Heinze–Sorin

Mascherano–Cambiasso

Riquelme
Messi Tevez

Cruz

And the actual Pekershit formation will be something like this:

Abbondanzieri
Scaloni–Ayala–Heinze–Sorin
Lucho G.-Mascherano-Cambiasso-Riquelme
Messi–Tevez

must play 4-1-2-1-2. defence should be coloccini, ayala, heinze, sorin. mascherano (dcm)cambiasso(lm) messi (rm - so he cut in from the right on to his coveted left foot) , riquelme (acm- best vision in football and rare in that he is unselfish). Forwards: crespo (world-class finisher) and tevez(great young striker which euopean-based players have not been exposed to). Im an australian but from a pure football fan point of view it would be great for such a talented team to do well at the world cup. That’s the formation n the players to do it

This is the best formation! 4-2-2-2. But I guess he`ll go for 4-2-3-1. Thats OK too.

I liked your back four wandiego10:

–Ayala–Milito-Heinze—Sorin

Very good option for the not so trustable Coloccini. I used to like Fabrizio a lot, it’s only the last two games he messed up.

I don’t think Pekerhole will play my favourite formation 4-2-3-1, I think he’ll go for the 4-4-2 instead…

Nobody in the world can believe he didn’t call Zanetti. The English press, the Italian bloggers, newspapers, everybody is in disbelief. What an asshole…

ayala does not play right back

and i dont think we should use 2 def mids thats way too defensive

the last time we used that formation we lost to croatia
(then again pekkerwood was testing defenders)

it should be 4 defenders 1 def mid

3 mid

2 forward

colo—-ayala—heinze—sorin

———–mascherano———
—messi—–riquelme—-lucho

——-crespo———tevez—-

this way mascherano can mark there main play maker

the back 4 can quell any attack

and you still have messi flanking in and roman and lucho servicing along with messi

crespo and tevez finishing

mightie; that`s nice. But I have to play on the wing,he,he. I actually think all of us on this blog would be better right backs than Scaloni. So would my dog or my dead grandmother.he,he.

pato
colo ayala heinze sorin
messi (attacking winger) Cambiasso (OR Masche as defensive mid) Riquelme (attacking mid) Lucho (winger)… all on one line
tevez and crespo up front.

i’m sure Cambiasso, Requilme and Heinze they will be starting in any formation because Perkerman likes them,no question about that…………. But he likes scaloni as well !! !! !!!!
Javier Mascherano is the most important player in the defensiv MF, if Perkerman understand a little in football should alwyas start with him in this position !

will be the same draw that the game against Brasil in BsAs.

that day pekerman put :

—–pato;
—Coloccini, Ayala, Heinze;
Lucho, Masche, Sorin, Kily;
——-Riquelme;
—Saviola, Crespo.

son now would be :

—–pato;
—Coloccini, Ayala, Heinze;
Lucho, Masche, cambiasso, sorin;
——-Riquelme;
—messi, Crespo.

if it belongs to me ! ! eh
i’ll select 4 DFs ( means G.Milito, i don’t know cufrè and burdisso) instead of Sorin !

Lucho, maybe can start by him and lets see, propably he will be susituted by either (MaxiRod or Aimar)
if you think that Riquelme and Aimar will never play together means Aimar will never play!
but the big question is about Tevez ????????????
3 forwads ( Messi, Crespo and Tevez) i don’t think unless Messi will play as a MF but it’s a bit risky! ! !

maxilopez,
i’m sure that i have seen ABBO in the final match against Paraguay at the Olympic football!
Peker still thinking in the U-20level, u remember we have seen Ghana, Nigeria, Qatar etc playing the final . he has a big name in this side only, heavy competitions like WC is completely different, saviola 1m55 with 50 kg ! ! ! !how can he play aginst Ned, Serbia and Ivory Coast difendres in thier group! ! even goal scoring and skills is far compared with Messi or Tevez, maybe he has good ball controlling compared with Crespo , but Crespo is better i think even Cruz is better than him, how can he play ahead of these 4 FWs !? he was great striker in U_20 but now he should no longer be selected.
football needs physical , stamina and, great skills with the minimum physical and stamina, Saviola doesn’t have the minimum requirements !
again Mr Peker still a junior coach in such competitions , he should not make big mistakes as he recommended donkey Beilsa to be a coach for 6 years ! Otherwise he should take advices from Sir C.Bilardo, Sir Menoti and Sir Alfio Basile! the best 3 Argentina’s coaches in Argentina’s wc history

hi all,
i also think the squad is strange: does anyone else in the world think there is a better Argentinain RB than Zanetti? why Saviola? i agree he is too lightweight and pointless when you already have Messi, Aimar and Tevez (not giants themselves). Why not Aguero instead? To be fair ive not seen much of him but what i have seen took my breathe away! Why not risk it? If any player is the ‘new maradona’ surely it is this kid? but as far as the team goes there are an awful lot of centre backs and forwards in the squad which might hint at some sort of 3 centre back formation. perhaps this:

Abbo
Milito-Ayala-Heinze
Scaloni-Mascherano-Sorin
Messi-Riquelme-Tevez
Crespo

id have taken Zanetti and played 4 at the back with attacking fullbacks:

Abbo
Zanetti-Ayala-Henize-Sorin
Mascherano-Cambiasso
Messi-Riquleme-Tevez
Crespo

What do u think?

mightie : LOL all right!
fab : You’re not wrong Ayal does not Usually play right back, but he can, and so he could and I expect this kind of surprise. May be it won’t happen but in case of suspended (or injured) defenders it’s an additional option.
Luke: I don’t think that Scaloni will start. I agree with the second formation you released.

For the fans still dismayed at Zanetti’s exclusion here is an article.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2006/teams/argentina/5003602.stm

If Riquelme can get on the same wavelength as Crespo, just as he has done with Forlan, we are in for a treat.

I dont agree with all the criticism Crespo has been getting. Chelsea are ruining his career and needs to get out. Definetly the best finisher in the squad.

Luke you serious about THAT CARTHORSE Scaloni?Milito is left footed.
