What now?
Surprisingly our friendlies has been very disapointing. Specially todays game against algeria. It is mind bogling how a team like Argentina who has some of the best defenders & defensive midfielders in the world could allow three goals by algeria. Just crazy.
I am only concerned on the future success of ARGENTINA. At the same time, our future success comes by understanding the information we have at the present and using this information wisely.
Here are somethings i have picked up.
1) As i have said many times before, I thought Pekerman was a good coach. Pekerman did something special at the last worldcup. He made the players play at their best. He put together a team that played beautiful. We played a tough German team at home and out played them(though we lost unfortunatly on PKs) we showed the true definition of “beautiful game” against serbia and some parts of the mexico game.
- I have big big big doubts about BASILE. BIG ONES.
1) I just have a hard time believing Basile will take us to the promise land (winning the WC as well as building a winning mentality) in order to build that, THIS TEAM MUST WIN. Since he has been the coach. We won 1 game. 2 including todays, but i dont call this a win. We got embarrassed by brazil, then to spain.
2) his player selection is questionable. He has been playing Messi wrong. He played him as a striker the first two games. which was a waste. Now as a playmaker.
- Riquelme is a true playmaker, the other true playmaker is AIMAR.
AIMAR I have been saying it many times. AIMAR needs to be the man. If he stays out of injuries there is no reason why he isnt given this role? Messis speciality is running at defenders, because he has the speed and the low ball controll. Playmakers cant be just that. Playmakers need to be visionaries. like ZIDAN, MARADONA, RIQUELME … Messi cant be the playmaker of this team (at least not now) Messi needs to partner up with a true playmaker. AIMAR & Messi in the midfield. I am not gonna mention Riquelme because he is retired. Untill I see otherwise, there is no reason suggesting him.
Basile has not given the chance to AIMAR, so thus far he has used messi in two positions in which he doesnt play regulary. As a striker and playmaker. At Barca Rijkard uses him effectivly (mostly)
I honestly think the best Coach for this team is BATISTUTA. I am still not done with basile, but i just dont think he is the right man.
It doesnt seem like the players respond to him. How could these world class defenders who work their butt of for their club team, come and lay eggs for the NT team, unless they dont really like the coach?
What do you guys think? what do we need to do? is basile the man? should he be given more time till the WC? would he ever be forgiven if he doesnt win the WC. WIth players, such as Messi, Tevez, Gago, Mascherano, Heinze, Aimar, Cambiasso, Lucho and so on, if he cant win the WC with these players, mannnn i dont know what to think.

The best players, regardless of nationality, play in Europe, not in South America.
The best African, Asian, South American, etc.

The best players, by far, are brought to Europe from Africa and South America.
In exchange for money.
Money that Europe has.
Money for talent.
Get it?

money for talent. exactly my point. thank you albo lol
which would mean, the most talented players play in European leagues.
so wouldn’t that mean the teams in Europe are superior to the teams in South America?
lol

I personally think that european leagues are not better than other leagues. Teams like Bettis, Fiorentina or Tottenham have nothing on teams like Independiente, or Palmeiras.
But I do think that there is a number of european teams with enough money to buy a great squad.
Argentinean teams are different every year because they sell their players and replace them with young talent.
So in a way you could say, we make ‘em and Europe pays to watch them.

the fact is the european leagues are much stronger and more copetitive than the south americans leagues. what some of you guys fail to realize is that argentine and brazil leagues are not the only ones who make up south america. are the venezuelan, bolivian, suriname and guyanese leagues on par with much european leagues. if you take the top 10 euro leagues there is no way south america can match them.
of course every one knows arg and brazil produces hundreads of talented players. but what about the other countries. you only here a few names from uruguay, paraguay, and columbia. while the euro leagues produce so many talents from italy, france, england, spain, germany, holland and portugal. by the way when last did a south american league produce a “current” player who won fifa world player of the year.

well said

Alexa,
I always wonder why you quit this blog. Now I understand. Thanks…

maybe it’s because she’s scared Fifa hates her too

lol

If you take the populations of countries like Paraguay & Uruguay( who could claim to be four times World Champions, considering they won the Olympic tournaments when full strength sides competed in ‘24 & ‘28) then you see the lie to the figures.
Per head of population Uruguay (London has double the population for instance) is the most sucessful NT on Earth.
I’m sorry but looking at the likes at the Eastern European leagues & certainly Scandinavia , Benelux, Alpine leagues the quality is very mediocre. Den Haag , Olomouc ,Helsingborgs
clubs of great renown ?

Argentina2010,
I will respond to you only if Bob announces that you are truly Argentina2010, not a false identity….

With Milito and Almiron on the verge of signing for the Bianconeri, the Old Lady is now tracking down Riquelme to complete a trio of Argentinean players at the club.
Argentinean-style Juve For Next Season?
Juventus have been linked to various players from Argentina during this transfer market. Apart from Milito and Almiron, who will most likely join the Bianconeri, the Old Lady was linked to Javier Saviola, Gabriel Heinze, Rodrigo Palacio, Fernando Gago, Mauro Boselli and Fernando Belluschi.
However, according to ‘Tuttosport’, the latest player to be linked to the Turin giants is Boca Juniors’ Juan Roman Riquelme, who just played in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores on Thursday morning, where he led his side to a 3-0 win over Gremio.
If the Bianconeri want to land the player, the Old Lady will have to deal with Villareal who still own him. Riquelme admitted that he would like an experience in Italy, considering that there is not much trust in him at Villareal.
“According to the agreements, soon I will have to return to Villareal, who still own me, but I would prefer finding another team, considering that they (Villareal) don’t believe me. I like the idea of playing in Italy,” revealed the Argentinean forward.

if Riquelme joins Juventus, I will shit my pants.

Albo,
what has the Argentina souls done to her opponents that they HATE you with so much passion… I am not even from Argentina, but they want to get rid me as well because I promote Argentina interest. One of the bloggers here appear to me that he does NOT even have a JOB because he is always on line… What a waste of productive life when this is ONLY casual blog, where only a very few profit…

well if you’re talking about me, then you should talk to me directly.

Guys,
Seriously why are we fighting with each other. Its not like we still have Ali. If anyone says something to you just ignore it. This website was made to help people know more about Argentine football.
And with that note can someone tell me about Jose Sosa I heard he might be our next playmaker.

Golazo, Sosa is pretty darn amazing. Do a search on youtube for Jose Sosa. Bunch of clips on there.

Veron and Simeone speak very highly of him.

He formed a pretty formidable partnership with Veron and Pavone. But at Bayern - I don’t know. They might bring him in slowly. He has to adapt to a different style and pace. We’ll see. I’m excited about Sosa, because very few recognize his potential.

How good is Sebastian Leto of Lanus? I heard he has signed for Liverpool. Is he a very good player?
