Vote Messi !

June 18th, 2006 | By: Nick | 63 Comments »

Hola, people please take some time and vote for Messi as the best Young Player award.

He was top a week ago, but Christiano Ronaldo had overtaken him, now Luis Valencia from Ecuador is somehow #1!! now that is funny.

Personally I think Ronaldo is incredibly overrated and Messi is so much better than him that we shouldn’t even compare him to CR.
I think the girls voted for Ronaldo, this guy es un canchero (show off), he scores 1 goal in 10 matches and takes his shirt off and screams like he’s won the world cup finals!!
Come on, he scored a penalty the other day, and made a huge deal out of it haha.
Let’s take him down guys!!

ALL VOTE FOR MESSI (the real best young player – by a mile)

Hey one request, Can anybody clarify me on my below understanding.

1. The two yellow cards on two non-consecutive games will not cause the player to miss his next match.

The statement above is correct right?

Messi is a class act. I’d put him up there with Kevin Kilbane.

theres no question messi is the best young player. ronaldo is good, but hes not complete.

Rooney showed nothing yet.

play messi for an entire game, he scores at least once… and who knows how many assists.

Ok.. messi went in at the 4-0 mark.. S&M gave up. If you would up put any young player, valencia, rooney, CR,Guardado (mex) they would have also scored. Common guys, you can’t say that messi is better than CR because of that 15 minutes. The comparison of CR’s 180 minutes to messi’s 15 is BS. in that case, anyone that has not scored in the WC, is below messi.. Ronaldinho has not scored. Also in that case the guy from Saudi arabia score in the last minutes, he was in for like 5 minutes. Is he better??

So, messi is good, but i don’t think that he has given THE BEST YOUNG PERFORMANCE…

Are You serious vote for Messi. Messi is a nobody, he’s nothing compared to Ronaldo. Ronaldo will tear him apart. Ronaldo will eat Messi for Breakfast. Argentina is going down, it’s all a matter of time. Argentina has no chance of winning the world cup. They might make it to the final. But everyone knows Brazil is taking it home one more time. Brazil is going to win this year’s Worldcup.
BRAZILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL ALL THE WAY

BRAZIL GOOD!!!!
ARGENTINA BAD!!!!

OK RIBO.. really, did you read what the comments are about. BEST YOUNG PLAYER.. your little fat ronaldo can’t come in this convesation. this is why i hate brazil fans, you mention best, anb they throw ronaldo!! don’t get me wrong, he is a great player but, He looks bad, he has not finished one game. the coach sees his bad performance. Robhino is playing way better.

Anyway, Ribo please, if you are going to comment, make sure you read..

I hope brazil wins another one, it would be great for the Americas, but argentina looks solid. THey have great players. I would love to see both in the final. it would be a great game. Y’ll know that brazil is way better than what they are playing. They will go to the finals.

I’m a mexico fan. I have always liked any america team. I personally want to see argentina Vs mexico in the next round. I think it would be a great match. And yes you argentinians will say that we suck and that there is no competition. But you know we will fight, and not let go. It would be an amzing game.

Oh and Ribo
MExico beat your precious brazil last year, with ronaldo and the star team…

viva mexico.
Good luck to you argentina…

BOCA rules..

Messi is a good player but to compare him to Maradona is a mistake. He is still well behind him at the same stage of development esp.in terms of football awareness.

I am sure he will continue to progress & can work on his vision on the pitch .

As for LLC you’re an idiot.A sad envious one. When I see Argentina play I see a Raphael canvas of meticulous brushstrokes when I see England for instance I see a Whistler work just throw paint at the canvas & hope it comes off.

Rooney is more of a physical player with some skill .Again he is not fit to be compared to the likes of George Best.

Brazil our rivals are going the wrong way. They are again becoming Europeanized in football style.Players like Alves should have been brought. Btw any of you Brazilian fans know whats happenend to Diego ?

The tradtional S.American style is to pass & pass. I am glad to see the clubs in Argentina teaching youngsters touch skills first & foremost & passing afterwards.

This will ensure this fabulous style of football will be around for many more years to come.

Btw the Pumas thumped Wales again & beat the home nation u21 in the IRB u21 World Cup.

Its a disgrace that New Zealand still try to stop the Pumas from entry into the Tri Nations.

NZ the same nation who has killed off Samoa Fiji for instance. I’m pretty sure we’d thump your union backsides LLC as we did last time on your visit to Buenos Aires.

AURELIUS…

South American soccer is really not pass & pass as you say..

Forget the rest of SA, I’m talking purely from an Argetinian and Brazilian standpoint. In Argentina soccer (assuming we’re taking Menotti’s viewpoints and not Bilardo), the aim is to pass the ball around as much as possible, get the other players to run to a spot and then wait for one of the defenders to over commit and make the killer pass through to goal.

in Brazil, they say any move upfield that involves more than 8 passes is a waste. That’s why you see them with that European attitude of passing the ball upfield quickly and then playing the SA 1 touch passing game and quickly go towards goal.

I guess it comes down to Possession vs quick strike capability…

Dear skywalker thats what I mean when I say the ‘traditional’ style & the Brazilians Europeanised style.

There is a tendency to avoid the midfield & get the ball into the box as quickly as possible should a target player present themselves.

That comment by a Brazilian coach would worry me if I was Brazilian & he was in the capacity of a youth coach.

Argentina of course still play the beautiful game as it was meant to be played. But this time with a rapier finish !

To all football fans,
We love football because its a team game and eleven commited footballer can do a great job. You saw it in the game of 70-80’s Holland team (Total Football). But this Argentine Team doing it more precisely with a touch of artistry (look cambiasso goal after 25 passes played involving 9 players). Most probably the best team goal scored at the World Cup. But personal brilliance also can help the team to win over a mighty opponants (Watch once again what maradona have done throughout his carrier specially in the ‘86 World Cup against England).
So dont feel sorry if we loose because We scored both the goals mentioned above and the world should watch those in next 50 years to test the football at its best.

Sorry guys – but having read those messages of yours above I cannot but conclude that you are more or less simply N U T S !!! Getting so excited about a young guy who on and off displays some flash of genius – but not more – is simply infantile.
