Updates

So the FIFA World Cup 2006 has come to an end, with Argentina failing to get past the quarter finals again.

But wait, there’s great news ahead, the future for Argentine football is very bright.
Yep, with the likes of Aguero, Messi and Tevez, and with a good coach, I think Argentina will be untouchable.
For those who have not seen Aguero in action, go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-9TKrQNLBI to see some of the action.

I would also like to mention the possibilty of Argentina hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2014!! Well, it is to be held in South America, and Brazil is the main contender, but FIFA have stated they do not have suitable stadiums, and a bid from Argentina and Chile co-hosting, could be approved. Great news for the football, the country, the people and economy.

Furthermore, the best goal at the FIFA WC 06 is likely to go to Maxi. R, he is #1 on the votes, followed by Cambiasso’s goal at #2, and Tevez’s goal at #3 haha, and at one point, Maxi’s other goal was at #5.

One more thing, the FIFA Rankings have been updated with a new system I gather…
… Argentina #3!
No surprise really :p, I think that is spot on? However, I fail to understand why England is #5 aswell as the Czheck Republic.

Top 20 Rankings as of July 2006 Rank Team Points

1 Brazil 1630
2 Italy 1550
3 Argentina 1472
4 France 1462
5 England 1434
6 Netherlands 1322
7 Spain 1309
8 Portugal 1301
9 Germany 1229
10 Czech Republic 1223
11 Nigeria 1149
12 Cameroon 1109
13 Switzerland 1028
14 Uruguay 985
15 Ukraine 961
16 USA 933
17 Denmark 927
18 Mexico 924
19 Paraguay 915
20 Côte d’Ivoire 909

Anyway, I am proud of Argentina’s achievement, it showed the world how football was ment to be played.
Vamos Argentina :)

Basile’s is the Offensive genious. Bilardo’s stamp is defensive futbol and Bianchi is about equal/level play through out the team.
Any Argentinean fan can appreciate these Quilmes and Isenbeck commercials…

If that’s the case, Bilardo should be considered. We need more focus on defensive part, where as our attacking is getting better & better

Enough. We must attack and start to defend when we are at 3-0. A defensive coach would exactly do what Pekerman did. Of course me must play with Messi, Tevez, Aiamr, D’Alessandro, Aguero, Saviola and others! Our tradition is to attack. We should have win easily this WC. These defensive coaches are so boring. I’m fed up of them. We need Diego. We need heart.

Hey all,

My thoughts for who will be the next coach of the Argentine team will be.. the one and only Maradona! Seriously - he’s really getting into the football scene with his good friend Messi. And yes, Aguero is a loaded gun, he wasn’t brought this time because of his age; but just imagine how much we will kill in two thousand D10S :D

Also, i dont know who it is, but on behalf of everyone, id like to thank the writer of the blog, it has kept me entertained the whole way through and love to hear your thoughts and what not.

Im sure we’d all love for you to keep writing and maintaining this blog let it be about the South American cup, friends, anything Argentine, until the next world cup.

Patricio.

Me too Oilerfan. There would be nothing like being in Argentina when they win it.The Italian party would seem like a picnic if we won.

A couple of friends went over to see the Boca-River Plate derby.

They were stunned by the emotion the depth of rivalry & overawed by the atmosphere at the Bombonera.

They came back converts to Argentinian football.

For Argentina in copa 2007, i would definetly want to see some new blood in the team…no matter what others say….for COACH..Maradona will not be a good choice..he is too great to be a coach, he will expect his players to play like him, which will be quite impossible, but he will be a great moral for the team. For coach i will go for bilardo, bianchi, valdona might be a new choice or hector cooper. But not Bati-goal, he is not ready yet to coach us.

As i was saying new player is a MUST….and we have LOTS of new talents.
TELL me PEOPLE what you think of this ARGENTINE squad:

GK:
Ustari
Lux
Mariano Barbosa

DF:
AYALA(For 1/2 years)
Paletta
Sorin(1/2 years)
Hinze
samuel(he will be 32 in 2010)
coloccini
CABRAL Gustavo**
GARAY Ezequiel**
ABRAHAM David**
**these three are chosen from 2005 youth cup, though i am not sure about their skill, my guess they are good + TALL**
beside them any new player are welcome.

MF:
MAXI
Mascherano
Aimer
D’asandro
ZABALETA Pablo(Yc 2005)
ARCHUBI Rodrigo(yc 2005)
MESSI Lionel
Riquelme

FW:
Tevez
AGUERO Sergio
CAVENAGHI Fernando
Luciano Figueroa
+ any other new talents

TIME TO forget 4-4-2…..and GO for 3-2-3-2

Hey Aurelius, ita w/ u, if Arg gets the WC, we’d be unbeatable, the rest of the world may as well just stay home! I can just imagine what a thrill it would be to watch w/ hundreds of fellow fans. With the kinds of players Arg produces and home-crowd advantage, there is just no way we could lose.

I just found out a few days ago about the U-20 WC being held in Canada next year (i know i’m a idiot for not knowing this sooner!!) and i’m hoping to get tickets, i just hope Arg will be playing in my hometown so i can go watch them, lol. Lets hope we have a bunch of new talent to rave about for the next WC which i’m sure we will.

The Argentine team was a young team, but I’ve got a good feeling about them. Argentina develops their talents they don’t import them like the big clubs in Europe. Why are those countries like Germany, England, France, Italy composed by non nationals? The poorer countries have to do with whatever they have and can spot, train and develop. I think there’s more merit in having a team composed of the best the country has than a team that’s been put together through the almighty Euro or dollar.

All those who criticized the Argentine players getting into a fight at the end of the match against Germany (what about? I still don’t know) should just take a few seconds and review the wonderful scene of Beckham crying in the bleechers pretending a bad ankle that was not in evidence the next day when he got off the plane, and what about Rooney kicking a Portuguese player in the ballocks? Great form guys, way to go!
