Until’ the Pitch

June 24th, 2006 | By: Nick | 72 Comments »

Well after listening to Pekerman’s live conference earlier on, he started immediately by stating that:

“The team line-up will be announced tomorow (later today) at the stadium”

TevezWith this in mind, he also mentioned that he would wait for Burdisso and Lucho until the last moment to see whether they are available as a starter or sub.

He hinted that the line-up would not be altered from the previous games (excluding Holland), so we can expect most of the players of the S&M game except for Burdisso who I believe will be replaced by either Coloccini or Cufre - his injury will take a few more days to heal off.

Mexico are looking like an easy victory after their poor performance against Portugal! Their finishing is non existent and passing dodgy. Furthermore, Franco and the coach LaVolpe both from Argentina have been said to be pesimistic about the game and so have the fans and critics.

I believe Argentina will score first, and then another 3.
Leaving the score, Argentina 4 - 0 Mexico.

¡Vamos Vamos Argentina! ¡Vamos Vamos a ganar! ¡Que…

i totally agree with AURELIUS , this is what i posted in another blog in response to soemone saying theyre worried abotu mach and wether he has done anything good lately”absolutely…macherano is the anchor in the back…ur not looking at the whole picture..mach may make some mistakes but he runs the whole game and is always around the ball…dont be mistaken..mach is riqulme in the back..dont forget this is his first world cup and he is coming back from a grave injury..i lvoe mach and i think when he is playing well argentina does not loose..look at all the corners and free kicks macherano stays back almost by himself…also when on d look around the ball ull always see number 8 around…dont judge the whole game on one or two passes mach is irreplasable…he is our fourth defender and he is the one that allows sorin go forward u take mach out…u need a fourth defender and sorin is out of the game..read all collums from argentinian writeers and u wont find many negative things said about mach….oh by the way on cofedaration cups mach was out and one of the main reason we lsot to brazil so badly….the game we beat brazil 3 to 1 in the elimination rounds mach and sorin were all over kaka and ronaldinho…trust me pray to whoever u pray to that mach doesn get hurt….thats my opinion anyways i think its pretty acurate”

Korea - Switzerland Game.
Umpire : Argentinian

I just could not understand the motive of this umpire, who did not penalise the Swiss for two handling fouls as well as resuming offside foul by Swiss, which costed Korean team a losing goal.

It is pretty obvious that a Swiss CEO of FIFA would not wanna see his nation team lose in front of his very eyes..

Just a disgrace from the Argentinian umpire. Probably been offered a few gold coins from FIFA. Very unprofessional and major disappointment from the FIFA.

Soccero, the umpiring community has no citizenship. In the first match against Ivory Coast the ball that slipped into the hands of the goalkeeper and entered the goal was not considered. Against Serbia, a non-existant offside of Crespo avoided the 7th. goal. Mr. Graham Poll does not know how many yellow cards a player can get in a match. And so on…who really thinks that this is linked to personal corruption from an umpire instead of FIFA commands or strategies. What a coincidence Brazil has won so many WC when Joao Havelange has been leading the FIFA for so many years. Spain would have never lost his last game in the WC 2002 if the umpire had not favoured the other team that much. Umpires are like taxi drivers. Worldwide bad. From ‘hockey crazy’ Canada, I am thoroughly enjoying the greatest sports event on earth - the World Cup.

I love watching the Argentians play with speed and skill. Good luck to them. It’s been a great tournament.

P.S. I’m thrilled that the Americans are out.

Have to say it was a surprise to see a penalty awarded against Germany.

So no fears for us as long as we put Mexico out.

ps Dan Dougherty Messi is not fully fit still(hes a little tentative esp.shooting wise) hence better to come off from the bench in an important game v-v the group game v Holland.

Look forward also to tonights entry draft !

Vamos Argentina !

Preview (2nd Stage): Argentina vs Mexico

Argentina is far better than anyone expected or gauged prior to the tournament. They have been scoring at will and their young lineup which includes Lionel Messi is showing enormous aggresiveness attacking rampage during the group stage. With a draw a…

Well my prediction only worked if Argentina scored first :D

What a great game! and finally we see Aimar and Riquleme juntos. Worked out really well!

Mexico played their best performance ever, and we started badly - heinze was all over the place.
I believe Germany will be an easier oponent as Mexico were a perfect counter to Argentina, and the German defense is weak.

Espero que algunos comiencen a tener un poco de humildad y bajarse de su nube, espero que reconozcan lo que México les hizo sufrir y recuerden q lo importante no es ganar, sino saber respetar al rival…

No menosprecies a tu rival nunca!

VIVA MEXICO!! LO HICIERON DE MARAVILLA!!

i think you mexicans are just bitter… go drink some tequila..

the better team won..was it tough ? yes.. but argentina is always better than mexico…

even with an argentine coach you could not beat us..

so take a chill pill

you are the ones with the inferiority complex.. all the players, coaching staff, and argentines using logic knew that mexico would be a really tough rival… its always tough for argentina beating you guys…. but we almost always do and we did again today!

that’s true, Mexico was one of the hard team to play. And it is one of the best. Against european teams they werent playing well but against argentina it was totally different ! they know perfectlly argentina’ squad. Yesterday was a match of tactics. Very hard !!! and i dont know if argentina will play again against a team like that. Germany will be different i hope. Maybe brazil but whatever they’re arrghhhh …

i suffered a lot yesterday ! i didnt recognize argentina because of Mexico. thank u RODRIGUEZ !!! and Mexico, u deserve to be one of the best sure !
