They owe us a star.
How old were you when it happened?
1990 final.
Germany vs. Argentina.
In truth, it was amazing that Argentina even made it that far.
Not like the team of today, they were riding Goycochea (even more than Maradona) but the final was stolen from us.
A fluke penalty in the 85th minute of a 0-0 match!
The Germans took a dive better than Ronaldo, and a PK was awarded.
Do you remember the referee?
Who could possibly make a blunder like that on the biggest stage!?!?
Edgardo Mendez Codesal, that’s who. A Mexican!
It’s sweet justice that we just dispatched his team, and now we get our rematch of that final in 1990.
Germany now wears three gold stars over their shield.
We have two.
You owe us that star, Germany.
Everyone knows you would have lost in the PKs against Goycochea. You shouldn’t have taken that dive.
So now, we’re going through you.
We’ll get the star that’s rightfully ours by beating you in your home country, then going on to beat whoever else dares to face us.
We are not scared.
We are a machine.
We are the rightful champions.
Ojo, eh.
Ojo.

*pats & kisses* “u people” is that a discriminatory statement??????????????

Shannon: Here in the link below are the comments from Borgetti. (why no one is talking about what he said?)
http://www.jornada.unam.mx/2006/06/25/a07n2dep.php
I will translate for those who do not speak spanish:
“He managed to put his foot in front of my head, I had almost gained the position, and when Crespo stretched his foot I could not see the ball anylonger; when I turned around I saw that they were celebrating.
I did not saw the goal; I do not know how he kicked.
It looks like I managed to kick the ball, but I did not touch it, I believe that he probably brushed it and right away the ball went to the goal… and no way. They tied very fast.”
Maybe we are unbelievable, but I think that if Burgetti says he did not touch the ball, what are we discussing about?
Anyway Mexico played a fantastic game.

Borgetti what a class act. Two professionals in my book. I tip my hat to Crespo for his goal and to Borgetti for admitting it was not an autogol, but Crespo’s hard work…
Thanks for that link RAIN.

I was 11 and I cried… the pingback above is from my site… it really is from Canada not the US.
I decided that I would remove a star from their kit for fun:
http://img188.imageshack.us/my.php?image=germany2stars2gq.jpg
it looks pretty cool
I won’t give us the 3rd star until we get it… VAMOS VAMOS ARGENTINA… VAMOS VAMOS A GRANAR… they must win… win it for themselves, for Argentina, for Maradona… for all the players who played in the last 20 years that didn’t get a chance to win.

Jason: yes, I thought the same. I tip my hat to Burgetti as well. Specially when I watched the replay at least 20 times and I could never get a 100% security on who had really shot.

Then I take everything I said back.
Apologies. “u people” is that a discriminatory statement? No, it was in no way meant to be discriminatory and I apologise if it sounded that way.

i’d like to remain as optimistic as possible but in my opinion the fifa is extremely shady. france won in 98′ against brasil, brasil won against germany in 02′ which leaves i’m guessing germany to win in 06′hmmm… hopefully argentina wins not only for diego, it’s people, but to persevere & triumph over this corruption that has changed futbol as we know it. this is exactly why i can’t stand brasil & germany. they play great futbol but they’re sellouts & in the end unfortunately get what they want.
with all this being said i still truly believe that argentina can prevail all of this if they just display the same concentration they did against s&m.
vamos argentina carajo!

I WAS TEN….
DID NOT FORGET THE CEREMONY…
THAT CUP WAS OURS, THEY & FIFA ESPIONAGE OUR CUP…THAT CODESAL…
WE SHOULD HAVE KICKED HIM…
yes…Argentina was not that much of a team in 90…but hey we lost the match to the officials..
FIFA donot want argentian as champion… have u considered the group standing in this WC 2006, We are in the strong position unlike GERMAN AND BRAZIL…
ANY THOUGHT ON THAT

once again it seems argentina is in the “group of death” for the second consecutive world cup.(what a coincidence)
however germany, the host country has poland, costa rica, & ecuador in their group. brasil has croatia, japan, & australia. although australia & ecuador did good, neither of the countries in these groups are large powerhouses in soccer. to me this seems as if it could be setup for germany & brasil to meet for the final again. once again, like in 98′, brasil will allow themselves to lose as agreed upon. futbol is tragically political instead of played for pure passion, glory & love of the sport.
this is exactly why i hope argentina can be victorious against germany because then all hope of fighting corruption in futbol will truly be alive. for all these reasons i believe that futbol means much more than just a game. we’re fighting to conquer the fifa’s grasp on the players, coaches, officials, & all those involved in this dirt.

This message is for Mario…
There are two restaurants in the Boston area (Tango and Monica’s-North End), but they open at 5:00PM. I was going to call them to see if they are doing anything special for today.
¡VAMOS ARGENTINA!

Q:Who do you think will make it to the Final?
A:I suspect that the Final may be an all South American affair, but that simply can’t be allowed to happen here on European soil.

What a bunch of arogant crybabies! Maradona got the hand of God. God just gave you some payback that game. Crying and fighting at the end of this game is worse.
Your must really suck, now that you cant even play futbol

I stayed up and watched the Germany Argentina game which happily for me went to Germany. What struck me was how the Argentian players behaved after the game! What a bunch of cry babies! I felt embarrased for them! I remember they won a world cup back in the eighties when Maradonna controlled the ball with his hand, no tantrums from the opposing back then. Argentinian football players- “Grow up!”.

“Think about this buddy, when was the last time Argentina won the world cup… Seriously… And this will probably sound offensive but Argentina should learn how to play a cleaner game. They play really dirty.”
When was the last time Canada PLAYED in the World Cup? Or did they ever?
It only looks dirty ’cause of the referees.
See, if you actually WATCH the game, you might be able to develop conclusions of your own, instead of going by what someone else told you. yeah?
Oh, and something else I forgot to add in my last one…
Not just talking about Argentina games, but futbol games in general:
I don’t understand WHY we leave it up to ONE guy and some assitants to decide what goes and what doesn’t, when we have all of this technology to help us determine things the right way.
People, it’s 2006, we shouldn’t have to put up with the bullshit the referee decides to throw at us, and that goes for all teams.
Can’t say the Hand of God bothered me, hehe. But I can understand how others are like how did this happen? How did the referee not see it?
Geez, maybe if the rules changed, and we didn’t put the referee at such a high power, the Hand of God wouldn’t have happened as well as other unfair plays. =P

“How old were you when it happened?”
To answer your question:
Wasn’t even born.
And, I don’t really care about 1990.
I only talk about what I saw and know by fact right NOW. I’m not going to talk about something that I didn’t even live through. I’m not like some on here, that say things they’ve heard out of somebody else’s mouth without having an actual clue about it.
I heard various comments like,
“That Cup was supposed to be ours!” coming from older family members.
Sure, why not? Being Argentine, it’d be odd of me to disagree. But, I’m not gonna make a big deal about it and fight using comebacks from ideas someone else had.
Basically, I don’t give a shit.

CUANDO CAGAS, SALIS CAGADO. ![]()
When you fuck, you come out fucked.
Italy wins 2-0.
Germany’s eliminated from this World Cup.
That’s really too bad.

Germany have and always will be cheaters. The pain you felt today when you lost to Italy is what you deserve. I was happy to see Germany crying on TV after all these years of cheating. The happiest moment of this world cup was to see all of you cry. I don’t have to say it. You germans know you play dirty. you can beleive what you want, the reality is, you are cheaters and there is nothing germany can ever do to chage this reputation in the world. I how you cheaters suffer!
