Speech! Speech!
It’s time.
The eve of the World Cup is upon us, and there’s nothing left to do but play… and of course give a little pep talk.
Picture it. The national team is in the locker room and you’ve been invited in to address them for one final speech before
the tournament begins.
What do you say?
Coach Pekerman has to do it all the time, and since we all can do a much better job than him,
I’m giving you your chance to prove it and give that speech.
Believe it or not, I have inside information that the entire team reads these blogs on a daily basis.
Just the other day, Saviola sent me an email giving me a list of reasons why he should start instead of Tevez… but that’s another story.
So don’t be shy… Fire the team up with your speech!
I’ll go first:
Achem!
(Just clearing my throat…)
Ladies and gentlemen… Apaches, Pulgas and Patos…
You have all worked very hard for the past four years to be in this locker room.
You 23… well not you Cufre, but the other 22 of you, have earned your right to represent our nation and now you must do so with heart and determination!
There will be plenty of adversity. You’ll face everything from mighty Elephants to the most orange of oranges. But, no matter what the odds are, you must fight hard. Fight Strong!
It’s time to Hakuna Matata! Seize the day!
For Argentina is not a country of quitters.
Did we surrender against the British in the Falklands War?!?
NO!
Did we tell the ref, that Diego did in fact score with his hand?
HELL NO!
We are Argentina, carajo! We’ll tango all over your punk asses!
My friends, I have dreamed of the day, where people will be judged not by the content of their character but by the color of their jerseys, and that day is NOW!
So stand up. Stand tall!
AND BRING THAT DAMN CUP HOME FOR ARGENTINA!!!!!!
(Then I picture myself being dragged out by security)

Well boys, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for. (pause)
You’ve all worked hard for this moment, we ran , scored, defended , won, lost, laughed and cried.
We shed our sweat in same jersey, the blue and white.
Some say other teams are favorites. But I know, and you know, that we’re here to prove them wrong.
I want you to go to the field with one thing in mind: The entire people of Argentina is behind you, people around the world who speak English, Spanish, French, chinese, and Arabic are behind you. People who have different skin colors are behind you, people who worship Jesus, God, Allah, Buddha and names you never heard of are behind you. Tonight, you have unified nations that never met each other . So make the world SCREAM in your name, make the world scream out as loud as they could (yelling): VAMOS ARGENTINA!
(with anger) : I don’t want you to play for the cup , I want you to FIGHT for the damn thing ! Now go get it . go go go (clapping).

Mariana Lescano traveled by train and bus for several hours to see Argentina practice. She didn’t see much.
Unlike Brazil, which is famous for its open training sessions, Argentina has often practiced behind closed doors at its World Cup camp in southern Germany. And the two-time champions are seldom on time, making things difficult for fans and the 200-plus journalists who cover the team.
“It’s horrible,” said Lescano, a native of Buenos Aries who lives in Germany teaching Spanish. “I’ve been waiting here two hours and haven’t seen anything. I’m by myself, but families come — make the long trip — and they go away disappointed.”
The session Lescano attended earlier this week in Herzogenaurach was typical.
An hour after practice was to begin, not a single player had shown up. When they did arrive from the hotel, located 100 yards from the training site, it wasn’t stars Lionel Messi or Hernan Crespo. In fact, the players who first appeared weren’t even on the team’s 23-man roster. They were from the practice squad. The regular team eventually began to practice, almost 90 minutes behind schedule.
When practice finally did start, it made little difference for most fans, who are kept behind a chain-link fence, far from shouting distance of the players.
“There are so many fans who come here with so much hope,” Lescano said. “But it winds up disappointing.

If you permit me Jonathan:
“Achem!
(also clearing my throat..)
Hijos, today we have the opportunity to remind the los argentinos and the world that the real football magic is here in your feet (and in Solin’s hair of course).
Lighten the hearts of people, bring joy to millions and believe in yourselves because they are all sitting behind their TV and praying and believing in you.
Lets hold our hands and say together: Diego will be watching, he will be with us in spirit. Diego, inspire us, Diego guide us and thank you for teaching us.”
Then i am sure God will send a lightening bolt and wipes me out of this world. Beats Jonathan’s security officers…!!!
I am traveling to Germany tonight and will be in Hamburg in 24 hours. Vamos Argentina…
bye.

MY SPEECH:
Ahem ahem
My children, in the name of the AFA I welcome you here in Germany.
You might wonder why some faces are not present today. You might find some new faces. But it is all the same. We are all here for one reason. ONE noble reason. One reason worth DYING for.
….(short moment of silence)
WE ARE HERE TO REPRESENT ARGENTINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Give everything you have for this shirt from this day on, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they will never take… OUR FREEDOM!!!!
We will destroy the english. We will destroy the german. And we will destroy the brazilian and come out as VITORS.
So I ask you my children to RISE FOR THE OCCASION. This is the your moment. Live it, Feel it, Capture it and remember it for the rest of your lives. Let it be a glorious moment.
Our ennemies fear us, they look at us with their zealous eyes and hope not to meet us. But we will not show any of that. Because we are argentinians. We never run from a battle. We look for it with desire and passion.
Tomorrow we will crash we will see elephants crumble before us. This will be just the start.

Pekerman winds up his speech to the boys:
“Let them remember the day they played the Albicelestes for the rest of their lives….”
Then walks out to the tunnel leading the team.
Ok, I plagiarised that a bit.

LOL you had me dying with the freedom thing haha.
here is what i would say.
i am sure you guys are expecting me to give you an emotional speech to stur you up, but i dont believe there is a need for it.
I want you to remember back in the day when you were in your youth(messi, since you are still in it, just be cool) do you remember, going out to the park and the street, you would practice and play with your buddies dreaming about lifting up the world cup for the blue and white. do you remember how bad you wanted to play and win and win so that you could bring joy to your country and yourself?
Well here is your chance, we arent here to play as proffessionals, we are here to play as if our lives are depending on it. Go out bleed for your jersey and your people, go fulfill the dream you once had as a youth.
I know i told you i wouldnt give an emotional speech, but sorry i got carried away. cry cry cry, every one crys, they runn out the lockeroom, they run to the pitch and they destroy the elephants 22-0, lol, aight now i got carried away.
“messi, make me proud son”
“tevez, sorry i dont have the balls to start you over saviola, but dont worry in the second half, you will tear them up”

United States

This is my speech: Pekerman, you are a fucking asshole. First you`re leving out Zanetti and now you`re playing Saviola in stead of Tevez. Fuck you! I am SO dissapointed. Bring in Aimar, Messi and Tevez!!!

A speech before the big match? If i was Pekerman i’d say:
“Guys no more fooling around now, my ass is on the line here and I’ll be sent into exile if we cock this up.You lot owe me because if it wasn’t for me most of you wouldn’t be here.
I know everyone will give their best (I’d give Pato a cold stare at this moment) and I know you will make me proud.
This is your opportunity to become legends.”
I dont about you guys but i’m feeling the excitement now.
Argentina, Argentina, Argentina, Argentina

I think Pekerman is doing the best. he said it all. we have to think about the future games too. we do not start as Champions..we start slow..we become champions!!!
VAMOS ARGENTINA!!!! GO JONATHAN,keep us all informed and entertained!!!

United States

If I Pekerman I would say:
“Well guys, is not your fault, you suck and is indeed my fault four bringing a bunch of morons to the world cup. We’ll keep our two best players in the bank, and hope Drogba rapes our asses, we have no defense, no mid-game, and managed to gather 11 morons from the country that has the best players in the world. Do what you can, the group is not really that hard, but if you pass the QF i’ll be surprised… well, you can prove me wrong or go catch some hookers and have some fun, I’d be really happy if you manage to ruin brasils world cup, since we clearly we don’t have what it takes to do it, at least give argentinan people the happyness to know brasil is not winning this shit again….
Oh, and good luck, play well, etc… “
