Rumors…but BIG rumors

May 3rd, 2006 | By: JP | 44 Comments »

The press in Argentina is claiming (something Pekerman has already stated) that the LIST for the 23 players is Complete - save 1 or 2 positions. As of now, this list is QUITE surprising…

Not on the List: Zanetti, Aguero, Samuel, de Michelis, Placente

On the List: CUFRE (???), Cruz

I’m hearing all this through spoken media, but cannot confirm anywhere…

For my part, I think it’d be a big mistake to leave out Zanetti & Aguero.

What on earth is going on? I’m away for a couple of days and theirs pandemonium all over the blog!!

First and formost this news hasnt been covered by any worldwide media which is a good start. Ive looked on search engines and havn’t found a hint of what you guys are chatting about.

Secondly and to be truthful i am a little worried if it is being said by local media in argentina. They can sometimes get it right but equally just as wrong. So does anyone know what the squad looks like now according to the rumours.

If your reading Pekerman heres a little advice>

NO to SCALONI
NO to Cufre over Samuel

Lastly Pekerman isnt an idiot. Hes taking Zanetti. Theirs no logic in not taking him especially in the favour of flop Scaloni.

We havnt got long to find out which players will be going.

Pato may be having a great season but the world cup is by far more difficlut then the torneo clausura. He’ll be facing better class players and thats when Pekerman will realise the mistake he’s made in trusting him.

We have an average defence which will be backed up by a dodgy keeper so we will have to rely on scoring lots of goals which wont happen.
Also
NO TO PONZIO AS WELL

Can someone tell me what does Pekershit see in Scaloni ? I dont follow West Ham so I dont know at what level he is playing. I know he was an AVERAGE defender at Deportivo.

And what about Cufre ? I have seen him play a couple of times and I think that Samuel is a class above him.

Ponzio ? He is decent and young. He can wait for 2010.

Duscher ? NO. NO. NO.

I still dont believe Pekerman would make such decision. For many reasons:
a) Those players have NOT played regularly at an international level.
c) They never played regularly in Pekerman’ era.
d) We have players playing at a much higher level.
e) There would be RIOTS if he does not take Zanetti and Samuel.
f) Pekerman is not crazy, at least I hope.

Again it would be great if someone can give me the number of times Ponzio, Duscher, Scaloni and Cufre were called for the NT.

No Zanetti or Samuel to the world cup that is insanity?
I honestly honestly believe that this is truly absurd..and i will trust my better judgement.

But i must admit there rumours are scary..

I am no coach but i would carry
lets see

Defender: Samuel,Ayala,Zanetti,Colocini,Heinze,Milito

Midfielders:Aimar,Riquelme,Cambiasso,Mascherano,Lucho Gonazlez,Sorin,Kily Gonzalez,Maxi Rodriguez,Galletti

Strikers:
Crespo,Saviola,Tevez,Messi,(CRUZ/diego milito)?

Goalkeepers:?
Abbondanzieri,Leo Franco,Lux
(i think they should take barbosa but thats just me as a backup)

hey i am nocoach haha but i mean
no matter who the other 21 players are don’t leave ZANETTI and Walter Samuel out
thats insane?

I’ve been thinking about it realize that as much as I want to deny it, there may be some truth to the rumors. I only say this because I’ve heard about Zanetti and Samuel being dropped before.

Yes, that`s the the reason why I think there may be some truth to the rumors as well. We`ve heard some rumors about Zanetti before.
To Andre Sooklal: Would you really bring Galletti? Are you serious? I think he is really average.

To tell you the truth im not too bothered about samuel. As a player he has dropped his standard which was very high when he was playing for Roma.
However i dont understand why cufre is being taken over him. As long as our back four is fit throughout the wc we’ll be good.

As a regular viewer of the premiership i have watched scaloni many times and i will pass some facts about him this season.

Pardew manager of West ham is returning him back to deportivo after an unsuccessful loan period.

And i will tell you why. The man is casual on the ball. He has been deployed as right back and does very little in the way of defending.

He is exceptionally slow and has been regularly beaten by premiership wingers and the man will never catch the player again. He will give up chase hoping someone else wil save his bacon.

When he is the mood to defend because of his pace he is known to hack at players and has been caught out of position on a number of occasions. I still dont know why he is rated by some managers.

HE IS THE NUMBER 1 PERSON THAT SHOULD NOT GO TO THE WORLD CUP ESPECIALLY IN THE PLACE OF ZANETTI

Maybe we should gather some money and pay someone to get rid of Pekershit. He is really destroying everything.

Oh my god! Here is the players named in a 16 man list:

Roberto Abbondanzieri, Leonardo Franco
Nicolas Burdisso, Gabriel Milito, Fabricio Coloccini, Leandro Cufre, Roberto Ayala, Gabriel Heinze.
Maximiliano Rodriguez, Esteban Cambiasso, Juan Pablo Sorin, Juan Roman Riquelme, Luis Gonzalez, Lionel Scaloni.
Lionel Messi, Hernan Crespo.

What is going on?! Why is there Ayala and not pablito Aimar? Where is Placente and Zanetti?! What is going on?

i wonder from where u pple get these news. this is all bullshit, there is no such rumours either. when pekerman said that he is almost done with 90% of the team and for the remaining 10 per cent he is pointing probably to those players who were either injured or players with varying form especially the forwards (for example saviola, d.milito, figuoroa, emerge of messi & aguero, delgado etc.) not the likes of zanetti or samuel who hav always been there for the NT. guyz, dont simply be agitated zanetti & samuel will be there in the team for sure or else “lol” has anyway suggested us an idea for pekerman ;)

SEE ABOVE TOPIC BY NK…THE RUMORS ARE NOW NEWS. IT’S TRUE!!!!

The best way I can put it: There isn’t another country on this or any other planet that wouldn’t take Zanetti & Aguero to the WC (I know, I know - ‘you can’t compare Z & A, Aguero’s only 17, blah blah’). But THINK ABOUT IT…IF AGUERO WERE FROM ANY OTHER COUNTRY - HE’D BE THEIR GREAT HOPE.

By deduction, Argentina (this time ’round) is either REALLY, REALLY good to leave these two at home (along with Samuel, Ibarra, D Milito, Maxi R, d’Alessandro, Veron, Palacio, Placente, Delgado, etc.) or Pekerman is setting us up for MAD DISAPPOINTMENT. The worst news, far as I’m concerned, is that Abbondanzieri is confirmed in goal. Hopefully, he’ll be SO BAD that he’s replaced after 45min vs Ivory Coast. I don’t want to be set up for a letdown down the stretch.

Pekerman has 16 names. We can deduce the others.

The goalkeepers are defined. Abbondanzieri, Lux and Franco.

But….
Who will be the (4) ? …may be Ibarra, Coloccini, Zanetti.

Without Aimar Argentina has only one “enganche”, Roman Riquelme. The options are, Gallardo, Insua or Aguero.

The other issue is a lefty midfielder. The only one in the list is Sorin. Pekerman should include Kily, Bilos or try with Santana or Gago in this position.

Strikers…Tevez and Cruz. Pressure for Palacio in Argentina is biggest.

Strikers…Tevez and Cruz. Preasure for Palacio in Argentina is biggest. He was the star in the last matches of Boca (Champion in Argentina last Sunday)

I think plus the “16″ the names should be:

Lux
Zanetti
Killy Aguero
Tevez Cruz Palacio

Regards,
Makato.
