Placente Out Six Weeks

March 6th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | 1 Comment »

I see that Diego Placente has decided to have surgery on his knee and this will keep him for playing for six weeks. He said: “I opted for surgery to end any concerns and I should be back in action in around a month for both my club and the international side.”

I’ve always liked Placente but I’m not sure he should get a spot in the final 23, especially if he isn’t fit. If you take seven defenders I would go with Zanetti, Ayala, G Milito, Heinze, Samuel, Coloccini and Sorin. If you take eight, I would add Placente.

What do you think?

I surely don’t want to see Coloccini. Think on a different point of view. What will you do if these players has to be replaced (injury, red card - Walter Samuel a prime candidate, suspension etc.).

I think if there are no constraints, I will always play with these

3 Defenders - Zanetti, Ayala, Heinze

4 Defenders - Zanetti, Ayala, Samuel, Heinze

If had to be replaced then

Zanetti - No option. But still, may be Ponzio. Scaloni is very ordinary in West Ham.

Ayala/Samuel - Milito, Gonzalo or get Heinze in and get Sorin down at left back.

Heinze - Placente, if it a one on one substitute. Tactical would be one mentioned above. Or if we need to get from 4 to 3 defenders.
