One Step Further…

Pekerman called 16 players to meet next Monday and Tuesday near the city of Madrid. They will almost certainly be playing a part in the World Cup.

The players are: Roberto Abbondanzieri, Leonardo Franco, Nicolás Burdisso, Leandro Cufré, Gabriel Milito, Fabricio Coloccini, Roberto Ayala, Gabriel Heinze, Juan Pablo Sorin, Esteban Cambiasso, Lionel Scaloni, Juan Román Riquelme, Maximiliano Rodríguez, Luis González, Lionel Messi and Hernán Crespo.

The players which were not on the list; include Javier Zanetti, aswell as Julio Cruz, Diego Milito, Pablo Aimar, Carlos Tevez, Javier Mascherano, Sergio Aguero, Walter Samuel, Leonardo Ponzio, and Martín Demichelis.

There are still 10 days left to present the official list of players to FIFA. Let’s hope Pekerman makes the right decisions!

That’s right. Why Ayala and not Aimar (they play in the same team). Pablito has recoverd of his headaches. I am very worried…

Yea well i see that the way things are going, we will be under our potential going into this world cup for sure. I don’t think pekerman really wants to win this cup, i mean it’s clear that he’s either blind or stupid. Maybe he likes Brazil or another team to win cuz he seems not to care what everyone including Diego Maradona see that he is making a huge mistake. But oh well, I hope we at least get past the 1st round.

I also think this pekershit is a selfish ass, how else can he not be. I mean everywhere i read, the fans all over are so upset at what’s going on, only he just don’t care. Just because he has some distaste with Veron, now the whole team has to pay the price. Sorry, I wish i could think more positively, but it’s sad and crushing

I think Pekerman is worried about the defence. He is looking at all possible scenarios to make it right. He tries to balance the team. Burdisso, Cufré, Coloccini and Scaloni are only sub players. These players could be useful when Pekerman changes tactics during the game

Yea but, why didn’t he call up Zanetti and Samuel, both who are regular starters for the national team?

Ok but in this case, why didn’t he take the fantastic Diego PLACENTE?! Where is Pablito too? This is so incredible…I just can’t believe this.

The training session will only last 2 days. Do you know if the 16 players of this list, will surely be at the World Cup? Maybe these guys are only pre-selected?

“Anyone else a bit depressed?”

Me. I will wait before Pekershit choses his final squad. I am praying for him to make the right/obvious decision that any idiot could figure.

Maybe Pekerman just wants to make Zanetti, Samuel and Aimar work more for their spot ? Maybe this is a psychological game ?

Can Pekerman really be that dumb ? :|

Well this is my take: Peckerman does not want the team to be loaded with STARS like last WC. Did anyone watch the COppa Italia game between Roma and Inter Milan? Cufre had an outstanding game! I like him, he isn’t as bad as many of you think! But i do agree with everyone regarding the disappearance of Zanetti. To me he is the backbone of our team. But remember guys like someone said on here, this is the final list, and it is obvious that he is thinking about our DEFENSE, which we all know isn’t the best in the world! So cmon give Peckerman a break, he knows what he is doing! I’m sure without a doubt, he will take Zanetti, period. If he doesn’t, I will just hope for the best, what can you do?

Guys, let’s not get too disturbed by Pekerman’s plans. I mean after all he has won a record four world youth championships with the core of the players he has now. Although I must say leaving out D’Alessandro,Aguero,Cavenaghi and others ahead of Cufre and Burdisso does mystify us all.

But having said that I think if you look at the last world cup. The problem most “los Albiceleste” fans speculated was the fact that the team at that time had too many chiefs and not even water carriers (so to speak).

I think it’s Pekerman who sees that as a pinnacle factor as to why he is using Riquelme as the core and just building harmony among that.

I mean the guy is getting abit of criticism from moving away from tradition. But, hey if you look at teams these days Real with all the stars ain’t doing jack shit compared to a more harmonised Villarreal who really should be in the final of the Champs league.

Anyways, that’s just my two cents

But SCALONI IS TERRIBLE. There is no debate here. Zanetti ahead of him is a no brainer. Also someone said that Argentina’s defense is no good. Are u kidding me ? We have much better players than Scaloni and Cufre.

Yall, this is about to make go on a shooting rampage. How is this possible? how could he not bring tevez and mascherano even if it for a meeting. Aimar is wayyy better than riquelme. I dont care what anyone says.

This is what i am thinking about this meeting, i think this is not a sure thing, i think he is just trying to look for back ups, I mean if you ask me, in all honesty the players you would have to have on your squad arent even there. Tevez is probably the best striker in the world, Aimar is one of the top midfilders in the world, mascherano has been Argentinas main man, Zennetti, is there anyone better than him at what he does, and samuel, come onnnn. Perkman i think is just testing all his options, but to leave out these players. I guarantee you he will be killed. I know some group in argentina would completely go insane over this. There is a huge pressure on this team to win, and if this is the team he is taking to win then, Perkman i hope you are saved cause someone will destroy you.

Remember this, Pekerman will make another HUGE mistake by not taking Aguero to the World Cup. Aguero, Tevez and Messi could be deadly.
Cruz & Crespo are well known to all defenders in Europe..we need one guy that brings fresh air and who could “break” a match when nothing is going on.
I would have taken Lussenhoff (more versatile) before taking Scaloni…
Saludos tristes.

Santana? Where has he been lately? Is he still at Palermo?

I agree with taking Aguero luchi but not about taking lussenhoff over scaloni when we have zanetti.

I’ve seen Aguero a few times and i am impressed. If we have him in the squad and maybe as a sub, nobody knows anything about him which is dangerous. However we have other alternatives their.

Santana who?I dont know where he is but i suspect thats the last we’ll hear from him now. He was never good enough to warrant a place in the lineup.

I actually think Mario Santana was good in the Confederation Cup last summer. But apart from seeing him one game for Palermo last october , I haven`t seen or heard anything about him after that. Strange! Maybe he is injured….
