No Credit ever given to Argentina

February 3rd, 2006 | By: Kris | 33 Comments »

Its just been brought to my attention that Argentina never receives any credit by the media. It was actually brought to my attention by a recent comment by cubeboy who states, ” if you look Brasil’s record at all levels in all competitions against Argentina’s record at all levels in all competitions its clear argentina are the greatest footy nation on earth only the world cup its self Brasil have done better but thats expected when FIFA is biased.”

I happened to agree with this and even though you can make the arguement for Brasil lets just say hypothetically they are better than Argentina. That would leave Argentina 2nd in the world. So why do we never receive any publicity? How come we dont get any kool commercials? Why does everyone hate Argentina? Was it because of the ‘hand of god”? Is it because we are the home of the greatest player to set foot onto grass? Or is it our style of play? Argentina plays but doesnt let the opponent play unlike Brazil who plays but lets the other team play.

Kris,
to go to an English Pub to watch an Argentina – England match with an #10 GOD “albiceleste ” jersey……..priceless. I’ll be making one. :)

But….. Uruguay only won the Cup twice. Good point nonetheless.

what the heck are all the argentines complaining about!? look at the facts! people dont look or live the past! what has Argentina won in last 4 year?? NOTHING! Brazil on the other hand won the world cup in 2002, won the Copa America in 2004, won the Confederation cup in germany in 2005(oh, and guess what? against ARGENTINA! FINAL SCORE: 4×1 To BRAZIL!!!!), and even finished 1st for the world cup qualifyings! what more do you guys want??? the fact is that there is no other team like brazil right now and everyone has to admit that they have the best team in the world! im just gonna name a few people: Ronaldo, Gaucho, Juninho Pernambucano, Adriano, Kaka.. ah, getting too tire! you guys get the point!

A few points: You left out that Argentina spanked Brazil in their last qualifying game (and that in the Confederations rematch Arg was w/o Ayala, Mascherano, Crespo, etc. It was a nice victory over the Argentine B Squad. Secondly, in the Copa America final (won in a shootout) Adriano tied it with the last touch of the game 4 mins into the overage…The game was entirely dominated by Argentina. Lastly, Brazil finished 1 pt up on Arg in the qualifying because Argentina lent their Uruguayan brothers a hand, eliminating Chile & Colombia. There were banners in the crowd saying “Gracias Hermanos Argentinos” before the game started…

Brazil is great, but Argentina is at least their equal. The irrefutable news is that no team is even close to these two…

ok JP, i can try to see your point, but please dont say that Brazil is equal to Argentina! PLEASE!!! First, Brazil also beat Argetina in the first game in the qualifying 3×0! Second, in the Confederation Cup, if Argentina did not have Ayala, Mascherano, Crespo, Brazil did not have Ronaldo, Cafu, Roberto Carlos, etc! And at last you dont say that Argentina played with team B when in the confederations cup when their squad included Tevez, Riquelme, Saviola, Aimar, Cambiasso, and Zanetti. Please, I think this should be enough. Brazil, the best Team in the world, Argentina, a very respectable team, BUT not equal to the #1!

Ronaldo, Cafu & Roberto Carlos are dinosaurs. I hope they play for Brazil in the World Cup. The only Brazilians to be afraid of are Ronaldinho, Adriano & Kaka…

Argentina’s talent is more spread out, deeper and younger. If they can find the right combination up front (maybe Messi, Tevez, Aguero), and find even an OK goalkeeper – then they’re actually significantly better than Brazil.

I don’t even know why you guys are even wasting your time here. There is no question that Brazil is better than Argentina. You want know why Argentina does not get any credit? Argentina is just as poor as Brazil, don’t forget about what happened to their economy a couple years ago. Another thing brazilians have charisma, when you see Ronaldinho play you get a sense that he is enjoying himself, Argentina on the other hand plays dirty. You guys should stick to basketball if you want to beat Brazil.

PS how many goals did they take away from liverpool in that game?? Did u even watch that game??haha

anyway about argentinians being dirty dont be mad because we play like men. were not gonna watch u for 5 minutes dancing with the ball and not break ur legs. haha we intimidate you guys so bad its pretty funny even though your boy Emerson is probably the biggest hack i have ever seen in futbol. I love how he only mentions one player. Argentina has the same thing a couple dirty players for example Samuel and Ayala but for the most part thats it..those kind of players are needed on a team if u knew anything about soccer u would know that..Why do you think Brazil needs Emerson? Why do you think AC milan needs Gattusso? just a couple names but u can go on and on …Smart guy

Brazil #1, Argentina. humm, i dont even know. is Mexico ahead?? LOOK AT THE PLAYERS!!! Dida, Cafu(Cicinho), Lucio, Roque Junior(Juan), Carlos(Gilberto), Emerson, Ze Roberto, Kaka, Ronaldinho, Adriano, Ronaldo, Marcos, Juninho Pernambucano, Robinho, Baptista, etc! too many players!!! team B of Brazil is as good as Argentinas starting team! Please!! Brazil is pure skill, beauty and tequnique. This is the art of futbol!

noo point is that your boy pointed out that argentinians play dirty and I am basically saying that you cant categorize countries as playing dirty its certain players smart guy. Emerson is far from beauty and teqnique look him up watch him play maybe ull see wat im talking about unless ur blind. Since u like naming players heres a few u should look into Messi, Riquelme, Aimar, Sorin, Aguero, Tevez, Mascherano, Crespo.

The numbers are these: Since 1978, Argentina and Brazil have each been in 3 World Cup Finals & each won 2. Even… (Except Brazil truly got its ass kicked by France, while it took a horrible call from a Mexican referee to hand 10 man Argentina a loss to Germany in ‘90). THERE HAS ONLY BEEN ONE FINAL IN THE LAST 30 YEARS THAT HAS NOT HAD ONE OF THE TWO TEAMS…Art, beauty, technique??? What Crap. Applies to Ronaldinho, but Argentines traditionally have far more ‘gambeta’ than Brazilians. Brazil gets ahead on size and speed. Adriano is a tree for god’s sake. There’s never been an Argentine player that big. Kris…while you’re right that Emerson is the biggest goon on wheels, I’d say Argentina’s closest approximations are Samuel and maybe Coloccini. Ayala is crystal clean. Talking about ‘B’ squads – Inter Milan is essentially Argentina’s B squad (exception possibly Cambiasso – probable A squad) – I can’t even think of enough good Brazilian players to make half a B squad. Argentina is 2, maybe 3 times deeper than Brazil (not taking anything away from the amazing talents of Ronaldinho and Kaka). Adriano is less talented than Tevez. Robinho is a fairy and Sorin/Mascherano ate him alive last they played. Roberto Carlos is the 3rd best Brazucho, but he’s getting old. Cafu is a joke, Batista is another tree, but not seeing much from him in Europe. Yes, Brazil has at least three top goalkeepers to Argentina’s zero. But, in short, Argentina has to choke badly to lose to Brazil (or play without 6 starters like in the Confederations)…To Brazilians I say, prepare to bring me a coco chilado in June…

i have got no idea why people are criticising brazil and argentina when both are fantastic teams to watch when playing football. Brazil with their samba football, with lots of flair are a joy to watch and argentina’s passing game is mesmerizing. Brazil are for me the best team on the current stage at the moment- no arguement. Until someone comprehensively beats them then the matter will be debated. Argentina are amoung the favourites to win the world cup but brazil lead the pack, noone can beat them when it comes to counter attacks.
Argentina have got credit when they won the world cup in 70’s and 80’s but the big debate is have we really progressed since the Maradona era and the only way to prove this is to perform in the world cup like true champions should.

As a fan of both argentina and brazil because of their footballing excellence, i hope the team which plays the best football wins the world cup whoever it is.

The Nike-Brazil commercial pretty much sums up the problem I have with Brazilian soccer and the way it’s perceived in the US: It’s, ‘we’re really cool and laid back’, ‘we play beautiful futbol and wear flip-flops’, ‘we give ourselves cool rockstar names’, The US eats this up like they ate up that ‘put another shrimp on the barbie’, Crocodile Dundee horseshit back when…Give me a break.

In fairness, it’s a cool commercial, but talking about cheats and hacks while watching Samuel butcher Ronaldo is inflammatory. Adidas is morally obligated to do an Argentina commercial while showing Emerson thug someone, Kaka throw a cheapshot, or the virtually psychotic Deco pull someone’s hair…That’d be cool. (Does anyone know, by the way, why Graveson almost decked Baptista on the field the other day???) Meanwhile they could show what the Bombonera looks like when Boca & River square off – an explosion of soccer passion unknown in Brazil or anywhere else, and show highlights of what Messi, Tevez, Aguero, Aimar, Riquelme, etc can do with a ball…

Saying that Brazil is great and the best, to me, is like saying Pamela Anderson is the world’s most beautiful woman.

May I remember that both World Cups that Argentina won weren’t fair… At one of them Maradona made a goal with his hand! And that desqualified England!
At the other one Argentina payed for Peru for them to lose… Peru admited that latter…
I shall also remember you that Argentina poisoned the brasilian player once, with their water…
So, if you think that Argentina doesn’t recive enought credit, remember that Argentina plays football very well, but also play dirty…
You think that Maradona is the gratest player ever, at my opinion is Ronaldinho Gaúcho , the second is Pelé and de third is Maradona… And everybody love Brasil! So, the reason you don’t get as much credit as you want is not the quality of your best player…
At the history Brasil has won Argentina more than Argentina won defated Brasil, so, how can you think you are better?!

well, given the really bad futbol Brazil played in the wc, I think Argentina did a lot better you know? the should have won! according to a tv comercial I saw:

“Brasil promised magic, and it happened, Ronaldinho dissapeard, Ronaldo turned into a pig, and they want to hack the dt to pieces, but they cant find him!!”

Argentine received their players happily, with chants and flags and souls bursting with pride, 1cause they left theirs in the field. what did Brasil did? insulted the players, called them a natioanal embarrasement, and burned Ronaldinho statue.

No Credit ever given to Argentina

I don’t believe they deserved credit this World Cup. Imagine the Germans, Italians and Brazilians cheering their players after a finish like Argentina’s.

The big soccer countries dont settle for second let alone getting knocked out in the quarter finals.

Bye
