National team win, Brazil match, and start of Argentina league

August 14th, 2009 | By: Julian D | 522 Comments »

Hi guys!

Thanks for all the great posts, weblinks, and tv stations! As always it is much appreciated by everyone here.

For some reason I can`t insert pictures! I`ll try to put some in soon! Sorry I haven`t started a new thread in such a long time. I have just moved to a new ¨barrio¨here in Argentina and I am waiting for the internet company to install it. Please be patient!

I saw the Russia game. I think Argentina played really well, and it was a much needed victory. We gained self esteem and confidence. Hopefully, they play like this against Brasil. It is possible to beat Brasil. They beat Estonia only 1 nil.

Let´s have it guys… Bring it on! New lineups… So what do you think of Datolo? They are making a huge deal of him here in Buenos Aires. Maradona has said he will be selected for the Brasil match. He`s a lefty and a hard worker. Jonas is also another hard worker and another player that Diego is going to select. I am starting to like this guy. He`s gritty and does well on the flanks for us. What about Heinze? You guys have to admit he`s a tough cookie… I`d be scared if I were a forward. The guy that doesn`t convince me is Burdisso. Zanetti? He`s still great.

Okay what do you all think? Agree, disagree with me?

-Julian

I am in shock but i will still believe that this team can beat Brasil. We have enough in the starting 11 to win. The problem is the back up players should be on like the 4 or 5 string team. My only hope is that Maradona is trying to call up 11 good guys and wants the other 10 to be cheering very loud on the sidelines. In that case just hire some cheerleaders. It is almost like the guys that play in Europe are not full blooded Argentine or something . I just dont get it. I fhave no doubt that if Veron were still at say Lazio or Parma he would not be called up. What gives? Does anyone have an explanation for this?

One good thing ‘El Diego’ has done is , made the fan morale so low that if we qualify for WC and since then only way is up :-)

I am still going to order the game, no doubt. Maradona called Palermo because he thinks that the guy has sturdy experience up front. The scariest thing about this is that he WILL START THIS SATURDAAY.
Thats right, I was listening to satelite radio, and they were claiming that Palermo is starting up front with Aguero and Messi this Saturday.

battaglia, veron, burdisso are all injured.
brazil will play pretty much a 4 5 1 i would think like they’ve done before, or a 4 3 2 1, which is wat i would prefer us to play, but since the players are used to the 4 4 2, then maybe that is the formation.
No-one knows the starting line up, everyone is just guessing.
Don’t panic, guys. Yes, the call ups were sad, to put it nicely, but i still think we will beat brazil!

you know, albo warned us about maradonna and now finally its happening. this one guy is single handly destroying our nt. i am starting to believe now the he want to be the only argentine hero, he does not want messi to shine. nothing this guy does or says make any kind of sense, from his player selection, his tactics or even his comments it just doesn’t make sense.this is the most amount of local based players i ever seen at one point. if maradona wants to call older veterans how about guys like crespo, samuel, aimar guys that actually has done something for the nt.

I love how someone above was claiming Aimar is too old (he is 30) while Morondona calls up Veron and Palermo.

People need to stop drinking the kool aid and realize Maradona has alterior motives. He does not want the NT to succeed at all. Either that, or he is playing the biggest coaching psych game with Dunga I have ever seen……I pray for the latter. Pray very hard.

guys, maybe our supply of players at this point is really not that great anymore (am I giving up?)
really, Aimar? I love the clown, but he has had a long time to prove something but he would not start on Brazil team. Zarate? I like this player, but he would not start on Brazil team. Higuain is great, not full proof yet, but he would not start on Brazils team. Milito would not start on Brazil’s team.
The only players we have out there whether called by maradona or not that would get a call from Brazil are Messi, Mascherano, and Cambiasso. that is it.
I am sorry for sounding negative like Maxi.
Matter of fact Maxi, can you stop crying and talking about “trolls” and your gay fantasies about being in a cave chained up with these “trolls”
I enjoy alot of the comments you leave, but you never fail to type some sort of hate or negativity about other people which leads me to believe that you are in some retirement home being fed through an IV while some gay Isreali dude Barbie dress’s you up day in and day out.
At least when Albo talked shit he had a sense of humor. Check your self Maxi, it is ok to be self critical, even if you are wearing another mans underwear on your head.

You’re assessment as to whether or not they would start on Brazil is irrelevant, Sorin. The point is Aimar is younger than Palermo and Veron and is a better player than both, and his game would compliment Messi’s rather than drag it down.

Higuain and Zarate are both young, but considerably better than Palermo. That I don’t think anyone can debate.

I agree Argentabaun, and I always enjoy your posts by the way. Maybe palermo was called to help out in the locker room? I have a big feeling he wil start though. the point i was trying to make is that our selection isnt that great at this point. Maradona will pick who he wants and we will have to live with that until he somehows steps out of his position. Brazil’s team is better than us on paper, but if we play with heart than not even an all time soccer all star lineup couldnt fair against us.
I would like to see lissandro lopez start this weekend. Vamossssss
I have verizon fios out of wash dc…. who knows how I can order the game?
I will be praying for argentina during this month of Ramadan.

here we go again another player called up because he is good in the locker room. in 06 we left zannetti home for scaloni because he was good in the locker room and where did that get us. look these guys are all professionals they don’t need some one to entertain them, they just need to play football.
