Line-up Announced

June 15th, 2006 | By: Nick | 14 Comments »

The line-up for tomorow’s match, Argentina vs Serbia and Montenegro has been announced by Pekerman in an interview early this morning.

Pekerman only made 1 change, and I believe it’s a good descision, replacing Cambiasso for Lucho Gonzalez.
Cambiasso played an average game against Ivory Coast, and after subbing Gonzalez late in the second half, he managed to score the 3rd Goal, which was dissalowed (again). Gonzalez also formed a great bond with Riquelme in the 3-1 win vs Brazil where we saw him play a crutial part.

Hopefully, none of our goals will be dissallowed tomorow.

As for Messi, he hurt himself during a training session yesterday, but Pekerman has hinted that he might be called up during the game. Tevez was also feeling sick today, but Peker told us it was nothing serious.

Although, Pekerman can make very unexpected descisons, I believe that Messi, Tevez and Aimar will not be called on unless we have not scored through the first half, we are losing, or some of the players are playing really poorly.

I think the next game will be a great game for us, S&M’s are a defensive team, and have recently seen numerous low’s, and I believe we are a way better team, if not the best team in the cup right now.

Argentina’s defense is great, Ayala and Heinze are very focused and Im sure we will have improved our midfield posession since last game.

Oh, and here’s the line-up:

Abbondanzieri,
Burdisso, Ayala, Heinze, Sorin,
Maximiliano Rodríguez, Mascherano, Lucho González,
Riquelme,
Saviola and Crespo.

Vamos Argentina!! we are truly the best team here :)

very good!
Lucho is great… however, I was hoping for Tevez at least to start….

We should win, 2 or 3 to 0.

I thought Spain looked way sharper, and that has nothing to do with the amount of goals they scored. They just looked crisper on the ball and had more ideas in attack.

Argentina has a way harder group, however, and the tough games will stand them in good stead for later in the tournament.

Argentina-Spain final, anyone?

I think Italy played well, I’m thinking top candidates: ARGENTINA, Italy, Spain.Because all Serbia do is defend, and all we do is attack, I think that we’ll break through several times with a score of 2-0

I hope that heinze will get booked with a yellow card tomorrow, if we qualify. He must be present for the 2nd round!

Stop the spain stuff, they won only because of the referees.

Lucho is a very good player. SM will never see the ball, but we must be very attentive with their forwards when we attack.

I like the line-up and our first goal should be to move on to the next round so I think that if we have a lead we will once again not see much of Messi, Aimar, or Tevez. No need to risk injury but I do worry that by not playing them at all we risk them not keeping their skills game ready. If we have a 2-0 lead what would be the harm in subbing in Aimar for Riquelme at about 65 minutes and tevez and Messi at about 75 minutes. Lets see how these guys do in a real game Pekermen! Oh yeah Argentina rules!

Please Messi
I thing Lucho can help very well in the middle and he is very efficient in pair with Mascherano. Its good because Vidic is out. I’m looking forward for Teves too. Please stop with Spain. It’s only one game. Good luck Argentinaaa

Hi NK, you’re right, except for one thing: it wasn’t Gonzalez who scored the “3rd goal”. It was Rodriguez

Folks,

Of all the Africans I have met, (I am Kenyan) I am perhaps one of two guys rooting for Argentina. Most of them are for African teams not to mention Brazil, Germany, France, Italy e.t.c.

I must say that after Spain’s great match, and after Brazil’s lucklustre match where they were lackadaisical at best, I started salivating for a sumptuous Spain/Argentina final. I am not sure of the draw but if it could happen, life would certainly be good.

Here in the US, the games begin at 9.00 (Eastern Time) and we are usually at work.

On Thursday, Lord willing, come hell or high water, I will have to watch this game live. There is this guy who keeps telling me the results and by the time I get home to watch the tape, it is so so stale.

I can’t afford to miss such a game. What is is! I’ll be supporting my team.

I have bet so much money (US Dollars as well as KEnya shillings on you guys). The last time I lost but this time, I am more than confident.

VIVA.

Nawatakia kila la heri.

A little Kiswahili for “I wish you all the best).

I think the line up is good to start with. I hope Perk doesn’t play Messi if he is not 100% healthy and if it just so happens that we are wining the game. But I think Aimar and Tevez, especially Tevez needs to get at least 30 mins of play. Tevez is a very electrifying strker for those who don’t know him, he is just lovely to watch ( I meant his game by the way..LOL)…..
After watching the first round, I will not say Argentina looks the best, but one of the best for sure, however, I have the feeling that we will get much better as the tournament goes deeper and Perk will figure out how to utilize the subs in the most efficient way.
PREDICTIN: Argentina:2-0

damn it.I just so much wanted to see these two play for at least 45 minutes.

messi is probably not 100% fit.so i can understand about him not playing.

Anyway,vamos Argentina.
Win it 5-0

i think that france played a good game despite the fact that spain got the first goal…The ref was off a couple times but France played around Spain and beat them in the long run
