Is it the Ball or is it just me???

I am watching the Argentina and Angola friendly match and I cant believe they are going to play with this ball in the world cup. Why dont they use a volleyball or maybe a balloon? They might as well put wings on the ball because it flies at the slightest touch. This can cost players valuable seconds on controlling the ball. Its going to be great for shots from the outside but every other part of the game I think looks ridiculous. I doubt we will see anymore perfect touch long passes on to a running forward. Everything goes long and when the ball touches the ground it bounces like a basketball and even picks up speed.

Overall I dont like it. the ball keeps getting lighter and goalies can cross the ball into the box from a goal kick almost.

Here is some more information on the ball.

Yahoo article

Its been tested in a few leagues (including the American and Argentine) and the reactions are nearly the same – goal keepers hate it, strikers love it.

Razzle when I am playing I wouldnt want a ball that bounces at the slightest touch. Its great i think for power players such as Adriano but I dunno i dont like it. Instead of naming the ball Teamgeist or watever the hell they called it. They should call it Jet Blue or something.

“Overall I dont like it. the ball keeps getting lighter and goalies can cross the ball into the box from a goal kick almost.”

It seems that this is exactly what happened in the Colombia-Poland friendly, today:

I’m sure you’ve heard that by now, and I don’t know if your last sentence was “tongue-in-cheek” but if it wasn’t how’s *that* for irony?

I thought that you guys would be pissed with a 2-0 victory. As far as I can remember, most of you were saying how the game would end 4 or 5-0.

Hello? Smell the cafe. The teams have had time to get a feel for the ball. All players will play with the same ball, not like in baseball. Yes,it favors the strikers. So the defense and goalies must be ready. And one more thing. Viva Brasil.

The desing on the ball is a little ordinary. I still prefer the design of the Tango.

I also don’t like how the balls are getting lighter, supposedly for better control reasons. Imagine these footballers now days having to play with the medicine like balls of the older era!!! That’d be a laugh.

Adidas release new balls for every World Cup, and each time they appear lighter and bouncier. The reaction is always the same too. Goalies don’t like them, because they swerve unpredictably until they’re used to them, and inevitably a few goals conceded will be blamed on them. They also will get blamed for players missing penalties and blazing free kicks over the bar too.

Of course, once the players are used to them, they can’t remember what the old ones were like.
