Good News: Tevez Only Out 15 Days

March 12th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | 13 Comments »

The initial prognosis on Carlos Tevez’s injured knee is that the injury is not all that serious and the striker will only be out for 15 days. This is good news considering the past week both Messi and Tevez had to leave games due to injury, but it now appears that both should be ready to go for the World Cup. Fingers crossed…

That is GREAT news.

Also, Mascherano is back.
Any updates on when Sorin will be back?

Tevez rocks! We really really need him. I am worred about Crespo. He’s a different type of player then Messi and Tevez or even Saviola. I mean it’s good to have the variation but can they mix and gel together? that is another question. Crespo plays a lot from crosses, he’s a header, kind of guy… But on the other hand Messi, Saviola, and Tevez go right through the middle.. What do you guys think? any worries on this issues as well?

If Messi and Tevez and Aimar all start, there will be no wide play. This will mean Crespo doesn’t get the service where he can peform at an optimal level. We’ll need Sorin on the left, and Aimar/Maxi Rodriguez on the right to whip in those crosses. Then again our desmise at last year’s world cup was the same exact reason, plenty of chances and possession, but playing the “European” way of football - with crosses from wings all the time can backfire. The European team were able to sniff out the attack with ease.

I think that the strength of Argentina is the pin point short passes and traps. The quick give and gos. This needs to be the approach at the start of every game. However if this is not working that is where you want the manager to sub in Crespo and Maxi and try the long crosses approach. Why not start Messi and Tevez and Aimar and see how things go. Their quickness and skill would be difficult to defend. And throw in there some nice give and gos with Roman and I think you have a formula that will work. When the other team wears down a little from chasing the smurfs trio around then you send in the long ball guys like Maxi and Crespo.

Dont worry if Tevez doesnt ultimately make it although i hope he does and will. We have got others waiting in the wings who will look to make the most of their opportunity. I dont like messi and tevez combination. Crespo up front and a speedy winger bombing down the flank with the crosses.

Yes no way you can’t play Crespo in the starting lineup. He has been in great form for the national squad and has found great partnerships.

I think if things don’t work well initially then experiments can take place.

In my oppinion we should start with these eleven players:Abbondanzieri;Zanetti,Ayala,Samuel,Sorin;Demichelis,Cambiasso,Riquelme;Messi;Tevez,Crespo(if all of them can stay free from injuries)

Finally, I thought I was the only one that thought Messi and Tevez should be in the team together. Ricquelme is slow and overrated, I hate that he’s given top priority by the coach ahead of Messi and Tevez both. Tevez is probably the best set-piece (free-kick) specialist on the team, in addition to his lethal runs.
