Give Riquelme A break
Please leave Riquelme alone for a little while. I am tired of hearing that he is too slow. It is old news. The guy is slow we know. But you know what makes him special is even when he is so “inconsistent” is that he can make that game breaking pass at any instant of a game. Or put one in off a free kick for a goal. So even if he doesnt do anything in a game just his threatening ability the other team has to respect it and cover him opening the field for other players. Whens the last time he lossed the ball giving the other team an oppurtunity to counter. I mean you just dont see him losing the ball. You give this guy a 1-0 lead and hes going to have the other team going crazy.
And this is coming from a guy that would rather see Aimar instead of Riquelme but I gotta give it to him. Thats his style whether you like it or not. But its obvious Pekerman adores his style.

Kily of course!! The guy likes to attack and is very strong and will make his presence felt. The thing is i dont know about his current form. Is he playing well to earn a place in squad. I would only want him their if his form is good but no doubt Kily is player i liked very much. I havn’t seen him for a while though.

“I agree on this but for me cambiasso is not on form and i would like to see other alternatives. We dont want to use another attacking midfielder, otherwise we’ll be leaving gaps for the opposition to exploit.”
Cambiasso is very much in form. You need to watch serie A dude. One average game against Riquelme isnt the end of the World. Riquelme owned players like Makelele (at his prime) when he was with boca.

wat aboiut playing messi on the left, or go for solari or claudio lopez to play that position.

Solari ??? Claudio Lopez ?? LMAO
nO offense dude….

I absolutely agree on Solari. Claudio Lopez was bad 10 years ago, imagine now.

I rate Cambiasso, and in serie A of course hes going to rule the roost with the players he has alongside him. His performances have been average for inter, and i cannot remember the last time he had a worthwhile game for argentina. He gives his best though, always battling but ive seen him play much, much better before. Hez got to find that form as he is an important player for us.

Claudio lopez was not bad 10 years ago. He was running the show in europe with mendieta and after his electric performances, from which lazio made a bid. Lazio managed to make a meal of both players careers. Italy is one of the worst places to go to develop your career.

what about delgado i’v seen him play on the left side i thought he did well

I think Claudio Lopez in his prime was never a NT-class player anyway…
And I don’t agree about Italy being bad for a player’s career. Can you explain your point of view a little more?
I just picked my favourite players for the NT at LaNacion.com, there’s a poll going on in there. The most popular player is Sorin, also Messi, Tevez, Zanetti, etc. Aguero and Gago are amongst the most popular too but Pekerman doesn’t seem to have them in mind yet…

I would love it if the “real” Kily played on the left side of midfield, the problem is just that he is not that good anymore. He never starts important games for Inter this season.
Solari is even worse right now, we can surely forget about him.
Delgado is not good enough at all.
Claudio Lopez is too old and over the top. Just want to add that I was so against him moving from Spain to italy because I feared that he would be destroyed there. Eventually that`s what happened. He has never been the same after that.
So if we don`t use Cambiasso in this position(for whatever reason)I would use Messi(if we dare to play madly attacking) or Sorin(with Placente or Heinze as the leftback).

Lets face it. Italy is the wrong place for South Americans to go to. Lazio and inter are the biggest culprits for ruining talent. Italian league is so negative. I would warn any player to avoid going to those particular clubs. Italian league is for those who want a high life and play in a league with little pressure.

I was talking about potential back up players for cambiasso who deserve a place in the squad not amateurs or dinosaurs like delgado, solari or claudio lopez.

What are you talking about ? The Italian league is one of the best place for an argentine to be. Remember Crespo ? Batigol ? The argentine Lazio ? Argentina is the second nationality in the italian league after italian of course. We dont need any players like Delgado, Solari ( who is doing better right now but still not rdy for the NT) or Claudio Lopez ( God knows why do u even mention him….HE IS OLD. EVEN IF HE WAS PLAYING IN EUROPE HE IS TOO DAMN OLD).
Sorin is more than a threat with his run on the left flank. We have Tevez there who can penetrate any defense and is a threat from long range. Cambiasso is there just to cover Sorin and Tevez. USE UR HEAD.

I disagree, spain is the best league to be in. Batistuta would have banged them in whichever league he went to because he was a powerful forward. I also cannot remember wanting to take claudio lopez, solari or delgado, and in fact you mentioned them before me. Them players are a joke to the national setup as far as i am concerned.
I am using my head and my opinions. All im saying is who is a potential backup player for cambiasso. Its a fair enough debate but i dont think cambiasso has to be in squad at all costs.

We have more offensive options but we need some balance. Thats all.

Riquelme is a world class player the best playmaker ever.i believe in him for the WC and i am sure that our team is gifted enough to win the trophie.Having players such as Roman,Pablito,Leo Messi,Carlitos Tevez,Javier Mascherano ang Crespo it give me much hopes for that.bur for sure Roman will be the leader…

Yes, riquelme is slow, but how many players in the world can use that as their advantage. Roman is world class, he can single handedly dictate the speed of the game, so his speed wont cripple him, itll make him even more dominant.

A break is important!when Inter was knocked out by Villareal,i am so glad that the Agentina players will have a good rest for WC.Frankly speaking,in order not to get hurt and be tired i hope Villareal wound be knocked out early also, for Riquelme and Sorin is so important to Angentina.

No doubt that our Romy is world class. think he’s one of the very few players who preserves classic midfielding. Marching with sheer pace is simply not our game. my concern is how he’ll deal with tough man-marking.

Soy Argentino e hincha fanatico de boca, pero creo que Riquelme no ha jugado en gran nivel desde hace bastante tiempo ya.

both romy and payaso are pure masterclass…let us wish they can play for the next wc 2010.

Well, I am Croatian. Riquelme is one of my top favorite players. The artist of the game. Pek made a deadly mistake by taking him out against Germany. One of the players with the greatest intelligence, with brilliant vision, can keep the ball by himself for as long as needed. I hope he moves to some stronger team than Villareal. I think he would play well in Italy, while in England where they play that brainless run and pass game he’d get lost. He needs latitude like all the truly great players.
