FINAL LIST IS IN

May 15th, 2006 | By: JP | 70 Comments »

As stated by our own blogger, Tevez, here’s the list:

Goalkeepers
Roberto Abbondanzieri (Boca Juniors, Argentina)
Leonardo Franco (Atlético de Madrid, España)
Oscar Ustari (Independiente, Argentina).

Defenders
Fabricio Coloccini (Deportivo La Coruña, España)
Roberto Ayala (Valencia, España)
Gabriel Heinze (Manchester United, Inglaterra)
Juan Pablo Sorin (Villarreal, España)
Lionel Scaloni (West Ham United (Inglaterra)
Gabriel Milito (Zaragoza, España)
Nicolás Burdisso (Inter, Italia)
Leandro Cufré (Roma, Italia)

Midfield
Esteban Cambiasso (Inter, Italia)
Javier Mascherano (Corinthians, Brasil)
Luis González (Porto, Portugal)
Martín Demichelis (Bayern Munich, Alemania)
Pablo Aimar (Valencia, España)
Juan Román Riquelme (Villarreal, España)
Maximiliano Rodríguez (Atlético de Madrid, España)
Strikers
Carlos Tevez (Corinthians, Brasil)
Hernán Crespo (Chelsea, Inglaterra)
Lionel Messi (Barcelona, España)
Rodrigo Palacio (Boca Juniors, Argentina)
Javier Saviola (Sevilla, España)

So, after all this: I certainly would have taken Aguero in front of Palacio (I would have taken Cruz in front of Palacio). I would have taken Insua in front of Demichelis, and Zanetti instead of Scaloni. All this said, this is not a bad list. If we can somehow get Ustari in the goalmouth (before it’s too late) then I’ll be very happy.

On to the next discussions, let downs and triumphs!!!

Even though peeps out there say it’s ok that we still have a good team anyways doesn’t cut it. I mean it’s just not excusable to what has happened here. Zanetti is a player that we desperately need in our defense to stabilize and fortify our chances to triumph in this tough world cup. I am totally disappointed as many of us are and am trying to think positive, but man this is really hurting.

THIS IS NOT THE LIST, THE LIST WILL BE ANNOUNCED BY PEKERMAN AT 5PM BUENOS AIRES TIME. THE ONLY 2 CONFIRMED ITEMS ARE THAT ZANETTI AND DEMICHELIS ARE NOT GOING. SO THE LIST YOU CLAIM TO BE OFFICIAL WITH DEMICHELIS ON IT IS WRONG. BOTH OF THEM GOT A CALL FROM PEKERMAN THIS MORNING TELLING THEM THEY AREN’T GOING. http://www.ole.clarin.com/jsp/v4/pagina.jsp?pagId=1196120

Well, let us just hope that Scaloni, Coloccini and Cufre are used sparingly.

I think that you have to pick a coach and then give him the power to make the decisions. Whose knows that plans that Pekerman has for the group phase. It certainly is not his obligation to announce to everyone how he will pay each game. He is trying to pick a team that will allow him to use certain tactics against certain teams and his first obligation is to get us out of the first round. Maybe the tactics will focus on moving the ball up the center and he did not want Zanetti making the runs upfield but instead Four solid defenders and one central that will attack a little more. Lets see what the guy does first. After the first round you can complain but for now I give the coach 100% support! Maybe he will go with a 3 3 2 2 Who knows? The coach is certainly going to pick the team that gives him the best chance of winning. Lets support the team and see what happens. For you guys who are throwing in the towel go support some other team and tell me why that team will beat Argentina. I hope it is not just because Zanetti wont be there. Brasil has gone with its older defenders and I think that they are the team that will regret that decision.

Zanetti being left out isn’t surprising to me.

Where would he play?
More than likely, Pekerman will play a 3-1-2-1-2

Pato
Heinze,Ayala,Sorin
Cambiasso
Messi and Lucho on the wings
Riquelme
Tevez and Crespo

That’s your starting 11.

Palacio (or Aguero) probably won’t even play if he’s on the team.

Zanetti would be great, but there’s a lot of talent on this team regardless.

I’m excited!

[...] Poland is off the deadline hook with the announcement of its World Cup roster. Coach Pawel Janas has left keeper Jerzy Dudek off the team, as well striker Tomasz Frankowski, the team’s top scorer in qualifying. The big question I have about Poland is whether its defense will be strong enough for the Poles to make some noise in Germany. Our list of World Cup rosters has grown to 28 of the 32 teams. We’re still waiting on Togo, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Portugal. Argentina’s list has not been made official yet either, but an unofficial list has leaked out. It will be interesting to see if the 23 names on the list are in fact the ones selected by Argentina coach Jose Pekerman. Fancy a flutter? That starting line-up sounds awsome! I am not sure that it has enough defenders for Holland but would be great against Serbia and Ivory Coast. I dont think the other team would hardly touch the ball against an Argentina team with that kinda of skill.

This must be a fake cuz on fcb.de (off. site from Bayern) is standing that Micho was contacted a few hours ago by Pekerman and was told that he isn´t nominated for WC 2006.

I cant believe this Pekerwood left Aguero and took Crespo. Pekerman is a closet fagot. He better get a cab drivers license in Germany if Argentina looses. Can’t he open his eyes and see what a looser Crespo has been all year at Chelsea.

I dont know about Zanetti, but two major holes, Crespo and the goalkeeper. Argentina is foocked mate. I have been waiting from past 8 years, I cannot take this any longer. I wish bati and el burrito came back.

Have any of you seen Samuel play lately, he is very sloppy. As for Zanetti he is slow and has been at the foot of causing some critical goals to be scored. Aguero has not played once for the national team so why do you think he is going to call him up for the WC. Palacio is in form and is only one of 2 local players chosen. Cruz is the big striker but he is not a 90 minute player more of a sub.

Here is my problem. WHO IS THE LEADER ( vocal and communicates with everone and knows how to change the tempo. That should have been Veron ) ? No leader no winner

again forget about Zanetti, samuel and cruz , there are useless, the first 2 they played 2 wc , and did they win ????? 2002 the have been kiked from the first round, the thired alwyas drops down on the ground to toucth the ball, useless player, Aguero is so young now but this new Maradona will surely play a major role in this coming few years with argentina’s squad like Messi as i’m expecting
!
BUT , ,, who’s Scalonia! ! ! !?

i’m sure Perkerman will always start by
GK:
Abbondanzieri
DF:
( Coloccini-Ayala–Heinze)
MF:
( Riqulmé, cambiasso and Mascherano )
FW:
Messi, Crespo

no question about Heinze Riqulmé, cambiasso ! ! they will be always there in any formation i’m sure he likes them ! !
but tell me playing with a Libro ( sorin ) is nont useless ????i think he will make the team weak , he has no fixed place! ! but he is the captain , , ,why him ?

gid.. why u all taking the piss out of Lionel Scaloni he may make a few mistakes but he is a great attacker as seen i the fa cup final and real strong and knocks people of the ball with ease. Anyway can anyone tell me if Milito will make the starting 11? i think he will but what u all think?
