few hours till game time

July 2nd, 2007 | By: Messay Getahun | 106 Comments »

We are only a few hours away. We play a colombia team that was trashed 5-0 a few days ago. I have little doubt that we will win, but I am not counting Colombia out. If I remember correctly Colombia was one of the teams that humbled us in the copa about a decade ago by destroying us 5-0.

Basile is starting the same team that started against the USA. I am a bit disapointed by not seeing AIMAR start, but i understand. it would really crush cambiasso or veron if they are to get benched now. Veron i really dont care about.

I pray that MILITO would stop being so unstable. I hope he is positioned right this time around. if he screws up again, i think Burdisso should get called in. He has a good player.

I WONT BE WATCHING THE GAME LIVE. i am disapointed, but i will watch it tomorrow at 1. so i dont want to hear the score or what happend. I am gonna pretend it is a live game. so i wont be writing anything untill tomorrow. YOu guys enjoy the game. be blessed.

Masche was immense again. Everyone did their bit aside from Pato & D.Milito(massive luck on the goal). Hopefully Crespo should be fit for the QF.

Should see some changes for the Paraguay game. Try to catch Barreto’s first goal.

Argentina u20 take on Paname tomorrow.Should be a walkover.

Take care one & all.
Chau.

D Milito was a bad substitution. I think Basile wanted to have a poacher on the field but the move back fired. And Pato should really have done better with that goal. It came straight to him but he tried to punch it out (and failed!). Good win.

that was horrible coaching, the team was dead in the water with 25 to thirty minutes left in the game. If we faced a better quality team we tie or lose that game. I was screaming at my t.v for tevez and aimar to come in this game. We got lucky to get a win out of that game. These are just my thoughts, but tevez and aimar need to start or at least be subed in at 60 minutes. That second half was painfull to watch.

Pato you’re the shittiest goalie on the face of the planet. You coast us the World Cup last year and now this horrible performance! For god’s sake…its time we cut him out for good!

And I don’t care if Milito scored, the guy was a walking joke. It’s as if we had no offence since Crespo left.

Not a very good game. Diego Milito was utter shit, I don’t care if he got the last goal, he was crap. He must not play more in this tournament. Palcio is better, and off course Tevez should have been the one coming on for Crespo. Messi was good. Riquelme was good, but man he slows everything down always, I want to see more speedy play. Veron good first half. Mascherano: a monster.
see ya.

2nd half was pretty boring. i think if crespo was in for the whole game, im pretty sure he would have scored a hat trick.. he was on fire for the time he was in. that header he hit on the cross bar, he had some crazy hang time on that. Please get better crespo, your the best

Our team is amazingggg! Our only flaw: We get overconfident… Yes of course after Crespo got hurt our team suffered greatly, but even without crespo argentina proved to be superior. Second half we began to play as if we were winning 7-0. We got too overconfident and began to play more defensivley. Argentina must never slow down.

Awesome goals from Riquelme. I didn’t like Diego Milito. Lucho didnt do anything the time he was in. Veron made at least 3 mistakes which could of turned out to be disastrous for ARG but I still liked his performance. Aimar should of def came in.

Abbondanzieri has to GOOOO! I used to loveeeee him until the Germany game in the world cup. He left all of us and his team when we needed him the most. He gets to NERVOUS and cant handle the pressure!Basile should put in Carrizo.

Paraguay here we come… most importantly, Second Round here we come!

es un sentimientoooooooooo

Nice win guys,

OK. Diego Milito is simply a direct sub for Crespo. Basile just needs to balance the forwards’ heights. Can’t have 2 short players like Tevez & Messi upfront, right?

I think Basile was brilliant, today. His timely subs really make a difference!

c’mon guys argentina won, it seems as though most of you are dissapointed. arg are a much superior team than col but i give them credit they played with alot of heart and they never gave up. the first half was a tremendous one in which we scored three goals. roman was on fire he dictated the tempo of the game. veron also played much better and messi was everywhere.
we do need to improve in certain areas cause here on in our competition gets alot tougher. defending set pieces, we must work on this for ou next training sessions. there is no width on our left midfield we need aimar on the picth he will exploit this. we must play the full 90 minutes. first game we only played in the second half and this game the first half. lastly do not give up an early goal and have to battle our way back. it may have took the energy out of us so we were so tired in the second half.

Guys, here is our problem:
GABY MILITO
and to a lesser extent
PATO

the first goal was G Milito’s fault since he was leaving Perea alone on the 6-yard line, onside,

the second goal, Milito tried to head the ball and let Castrillon do the job with ultimate ease, it just is disgusting- here Pato should have done better, but it seems that all the goals that we had conceded so far involve an error by G Milito, the guy is unbelievable.

As for Diego, I wouldn’t have expected a lot more of him, coming in for Crespo is not sth easy, maybe the goal he scored (he was lucky) would give him some confidence. But he is not a natural born goal-scorer, not Crespo-material.

Tevez, is always great when he plays.
Let’s see what the line-up for the third game will be, Basile should try more players, and it will be their chance to shine, I think Tevez will start in this one. I hope Aimar does, but I don’t think Coco will go for it.
