El Pato Sees Good Days Ahead

May 4th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | 11 Comments »

Roberto Abbondanzieri thinks that the bad spell is over and that he is ready to shine at the World Cup.

“I feel that I am good enough to be defending the goal for the national side,” he said

“I’ll get to the World Cup at the perfect moment…in every sense: in my private life, experience-wise, and the fact that my age is right for a goalkeeper playing at the World Cup.”

His age might be right, but are his skills? That is a question that remains to be answered.

Hey, our standards for being “good” enough to be a goalkeeper on the national side aren’t very high.

He’s playing well CURRENTLY for Boca…

When he’s in form, he’s great.

Hopefully the Croatia and the England games were his time to f. up…

cross your fingers.

at his best he’s still mediocre. i don’t understand why we keep considering him, i think an empty goal is more reliable than having him around. in every game he’s played his timing was off and he’s usually out of place.

we need to get rid of him, there are many other keepers to pick from.

He is clearly NOT good enough. But who should play in his place? I would maybe prefer Franco. What do you say about that?

Carlos Roa? HAHAHA.

There are no other options. Barbosa has potential but is too young. He doesn’t have the confidence to attack the ball when it is vital.

In current situation, argentina just need a “NORMAL” level goalkeeper. We just need some one who won’t make stupid mistakes, that’s all.
Playing SUPER in certain situations? No, we don’t need that.

Come on. Lux is really the best. I have never seen better long passes like Lux’s ones.

OK, ok, now you are going to eat those words!
I mean you guys, not him, he showed that all he said was true, and he is really great, he is an example of confident, and a very good goalkeeper.
I’ll miss him :’(
