Demichelis dreams of World Cup chance

April 13th, 2006 | By: Kris | 7 Comments »

Bayern Munich starter Martin Demichelis is hoping Coach Pekerman chooses him to be in World Cup roster. In an interview he states that maybe his ability to play defensive midfield or be put in as a central defender may help his chances. My opinion is that there is no room for him but I like the heart he has and the pride he has to play for his country. Definitely does not have the talent to play over Mascherano but maybe the idea of him playing center back actually sounds pretty interesting.

Demechelis will be in the squad. I am almost certain. He is a good BACKUP for Mascherano. He is a very physical player who can play in defense as well. And he is familiar with Germany….

im sorry kris but you are completely incorrect. demichelis is just half a step behind cambiasso and a step behind mascherano. he is a great player that has been effective for argentina. he is going no matter what.

He will probably be in the 23 i never denied that im just simply stating that i dont think he will be starting or playing in any game unless theres an injury. Maybe im wrong but I dont see whos spot he can take on the field and make a bigger impact.

He is going to make the 23 but I was just questioning Why?? If we have Mascherano and Cambiasso going who arent necessarily going to play at the same time??

I think Demichelis will go to Germany as a backup for Mascherano and will play a game only if Mascherano is injured/suspended or maybe if we are winning a game 5-0:).

However, I do believe there can be instances where both Mascherano and Cambiasso will play, if not for the whole duration of play.

I have a scenario, lets say we are up 2-0 against Ivory Coast and it is 66 mins in the game - I would like to get into a formation like

—————————————————————————————————————————————————-

———————GK——————–

Zanneti—Ayala—Samuel—Heinze
———–Mascherano———

Maxi Rodriguez—-Riquelme—Cambiasso—Sorin
———Hernan Crespo————–

Very defensive, if ever needed. I think I am getting more defensive considering Argentina’s easy conceding of goals

That is just what I have said before. I can`t see any reason we should bring Demichelis when we have Cambiasso and Mascherano.
Even Lucho can do a great job in the defensive midfield position.
The only good thing about Demichelis is that if we bring him, he can also play in defence. So he is a good player to have in the squad, because he can play in to positions.
