Confederations Cup, Transfers, and Updates!

Hello everyone! I decided to start a fresh thread – that other one was getting a bit ugly! Well, I’ve been reading a lot of different things in regards to Argentina’s seleccion. There’s a lot to talk about. Let me suggest some topics.

1. Maradona as coach
2. Grondona – maradona/riquelme, stadium issues, etc.
3. Transfers?
4. Argentina vs. New Zealand – July 9 in Cordoba, Argentina. (friendly match)
5. Anything else related to Argentina’s futbol team.

My opinion about some recent news? Well, Andujar going to Catania? I think he’s really going to get a chance to show what he’s got. This team gets a lot of shots against them so I’m pretty excited to see what happens with this. I’m still not convinced that Maradona is done. I know we will beat New Zealand (using all local players again) but I want to see a good tactical game by Diego. The new venue for our games? Well I read somewhere that our next game against Brazil in September will still be played in el Monumental. I think they will try to play games in la Boca and Rosario too eventually. I do agree with Veron’s statement that they can’t hear the fans at the Monumental because they are so far away from the pitch.

Anyway, all the best guys, and let’s hope that our boys get their acts together for our next matches.

-Julian

Tevez is not guaranteed a starting place in this team. He has to battle with Robinho, Santa Cruz and at least one more world class striker for a starting place in this team. I do not see his situation in Man City much different to his situation in Man Utd. He will be in and out of the team.

The amount of vitriol and abuse directed at Tevez from United fans (or as fans of other football teams here in England call them Manure)is staggering.

Comments such as he is not world class or in this grossly inflated transfer market not worth £35M are amazing or that Steven Ireland is a better player than him.

If Hughes has any sense he will dispense with Robinho whose off field activities are a source of worry and play Carlitos (whose own personal behaviour has been questionable) behind the superb Santa Cruz (the role model di Santo should follow).

Watch the goals come. Bellamy(a nasty little man) will be offloaded .

Sadly football today is all about the money. I name the likes of Eto’o . Adebayor , Ronaldo, Barry even chavbag Terry at Chelsea on hearing he could double his wages from an already obscene £150K a week wants to talk to Manchester City.

Saludos.

But Tevez isn’t going to be played as a straight out striker. Santa Cruz is a straight out striker, but Tevez and Robinho can do more midfield work.

Believe – if they signed Tevez for that amount of money, as a marquee player (who else do they have as Marquee players other than Robinho), they will play Tevez in every game. Mark Hughes wanted him for a reason.

Alexa, fully agreed. they will start tevez every single game and even might position him as an attacking midfielder, which i believe is where he belongs. he should not play as a striker. maybe someone should tell Diego this also.

I am sure that tevez made that very clear when he signed. Tevez brings to the table a diversity of talent and so the coach can play him at various positions. I woiuld really love to see him develope more as an outside midfielder as that is a postion that he could play on the NT. Also I think that even though Man U is claimin gnow that they wanted him all along they did not demonstrate that during most of the season. Imagine if your tevez and you gave your heart and soul to the club and they won the League and champions league with a very powerful trio on offense of Tevez, Rooney, and Ronaldo. Then they go out and pay over 35 million for Berbatov and you are now the guy off the bench. Your team does not score as much and you are no longer in as good as form because you do not play as much and when you do start it is with the B team in cup games. Now they say you are not worth 35 million and that is what they paid for the guy that replaced you. The only reason they offer you money now is because you played so well at the end and because they lost Ronaldo. Would you go back to that team? Me neither.

Strict regimen for Leo: Barcelona’s staff has agreed to plan a strict regimen for Lionel Messi to keep him in peak condition throughout the season.

Messi appeared in 51 games in all competitions for Barca last season, scoring 38 goals and assisting on 18 occasions. This figure excludes this games with the Argentine national team, which included a taxing rendezvous to Beijing for the 2008 Olympics Games.

La Blaugrana are expected to contest on six fronts this season, which includes an Abu Dhabi excursion at the end of the year for the FIFA Club World Cup.

Sport reports that the Barcelona training staff will be working closely with Messi throughout the season, monitoring his diet, rest, and training programmes. The coaching crew has also produced an exhaustive set of guidelines to prevent the 22-year-old from suffering a burnout, both physically and mentally, at any part of the upcoming campaign.

Juanjo Brau, Messi’s personal physiotherapist, will be deployed to stay with him all season, whether the left-footer is residing in Catalunya or Buenos Aires, to keep him in playing shape and to avoid any occurrence of injuries if possible.

The European champions are still concerned that Messi will push himself over the limit for the Argentine national side, to help them qualify for the 2010 World Cup and play his best in an attempt to win it all in South Africa.

But Barcelona are confident that Argentina coach Diego Maradona will help them monitor Messi. The Catalans once sent a note of thanks to the football legend for collaborating with then in the last campaign and taking a personal interest to look out for Messi’s well-being.

AJNYHC here is an article that supports your starting line up. It argues that the key for Argentina is to get cambiasso back in the middle of the field.

Putting cambiasso to left will limit his capabilities, remember Copa 07 and WC06-against germany.
He should be in the middle more in a role to cleanup the attacking midfielders misseed balls and collecting loose balls.
He does that beautifully.

Congratulations to Estudiantes Libertadores champions 2009 flying the flag for Argentina.

Well done to Gaston Fernandez,Boselli who hit a real streak, Veron and Sabella (possible future NT managerial candidate).

Ditto Aurelius. I gotta say as much as I have said Veron shouldn’t be a player for 2010; his form (and crisp passing) are doing brilliant.

did Veron really do thaat well last night? should he be on the national team? I hear batistuta is playing for the Boca J Polo team… maybe we should think of gettin him back on the pitch for our championship run in the world cup?

Well I don’t think he should because of age and sustained fitness, but his ability is in no doubt.

I was only kidding about Batistuta… but Crespo should definitley be included on the bench and be brought in as a super sub. He is one of the best poaching strikers in the world. And I always love his enthusiasim and spirit. Veron should be included on the bench also. Who here plays winning 11 (pro evo soccer)??
