Yeah Ortega was the one they called Little Diego. I couldn't stand the guy, he would try to dribble and fail miserably while playing for the national team. The other guy they got rid of wore the 10 shirt, he had really short cropped hair, light skin, always drew fouls but wasn't effective, his name was allessandro or something like that.

Ariel Ortega was one guy they got rid of... I remember they thought he was the next maradona (like they do with everyone), but in my opinion he isn't "good enough". Who else did they get rid of that is still around playing? hmmm help me out here... Ortega is the only one I can think of... Veron yes, i'm glad he is gone... Too pretentious...

It's not an argument, just an observation on Argentina's success at WCs. I'm glad they got rid of some players that weren't that good - Veron, and another guy who was called "Little Diego" but was no good, and another player just last year who had the number 10 shirt but was no good.

I don't think we have tons of stars... Though. I think our main star is MESSI... Nobody knows Tevez because he doesn't play in the famous leagues (like the Italian, English, or Spanish) We'll see... In the history of soccer and WC's, there were teams that were full of stars and that won! So I don't think that is a valid argument...

Maybe we need just one or two stars. When Maradona was there, he was the only famous player in the team. Valdano and Burruchaga were good but not famous. When you have too many stars it can become a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth. In a recent article Maradona stated that Argentina's chances aren't that good.

You know what D'Allesandro is awesome! Yeah it should be a mix of Crespo and Tevez.. How can we forget Messi or Saviola? Milito is also a great header of the ball and all around player... He will be good too! I can't wait to see what these guys are going to do... So many great players, it feels like it is inevitable that Argentina will goo far this world cup... What do you guys think about that? I know last WC we were loaded too, but I don't know I feel like we are even more loaded this time around... About the goalie situation, don't forget Goycochea back in 1990...He was spectacular, and prior to the WC Argentina was in the same situation as this year (with Pato)... Anyways... take care guys!

at the end of the day it the strikers should be chosen according to the medfield. With the current med of riq, mash and cambiasso who are good on the ground then tevez sgould play cos he can run on the end of the balls. however if zannetti and sorin are going foward and croosing the balls in then crespo is the man. therefore a combination of tevez and crespo could be ideal.

By the way did anyone see dallesandro play for portsmouth against charlton, he was on top form
