Carlitos dances in Brazil and will try to keep the dancing going

April 13th, 2006 | By: Kris | 26 Comments »

“A few years ago, someone said we knew the world was upside down when the best golfer was black and the best rapper was white. Imagine how mad the world is today when the best football player in Brazil is Argentinean.”(Andrew Downie, ESPNsoccernet)

Tevez did not disappoint Corinthians leading them to their first brazilian title of the new millenium. He won over the Heart of the corinthian fans and I quote him “ [Corinthians fans] are poor, they don’t have much but they are very warm. They’ll do anything to see their heroes up close. There are even Corinthians fans that tell me they don’t know whether they’ll be cheering for Argentina or Brazil in the next World Cup Finals.”

Tevez charisma, heart, and talent will hopefully keep all of Argentina dancing after one of his goals in Germany. The guy is the definition of “will to win” or as some argentinians like to say “Puro Huevo”. His seemingly tireless running will definitely allow a player like Riquelme to BLOW up and Tevez is a nightmare to any defenders not only because of his skill but because of is non-stop movement, he is going to make you work to shut him down. Another great attribute held by Carlitos is that he is fearless and I think when its crunch time he is going to bring and he is going to bring it hard.

As a Brazilian I agree. Since Robinho left Santos last year Tevez is the main player on the Brasilian League. He conquered us because he plays with his heart like argentinians normally do.

Tevez is definitely a super player. However, I think he should play the forward, rather than an attack middle field. In some sense, he is kind like Romario.

The best thing about Tevez is he always shows up on the biggest stages.

I’ve followed him since he was with Boca, and every Copa Libertadores big game, he shined.

The 2004 Olympics… he carried the team.

This world cup, Tevez, Messi and Riquelme will be on everyone’s tounge!

That someone was Howard Stern by the way. I love how he is referred to as ’someone’ because he was controversial.

Anyway Tevez is fantastic. It could be better for him that not all his opponents have seen him.

Fernie i would never forget about Tevez just finally got some time to make the post..And I have heard and read that Carlos Tevez is in a musical group. The Genre is cumbia Villera which is the “in” thing in Argentina right now..

I always liked Tevez…rememeber Copa America in Peru? This guy was unstoppable… That was where he made his mark! No doubt Argentina will be a different team this year compared to last world cup…a lot of younger guys…

Pekerman, unfortunately, prefers Crespo ahead of Tevez. Tevez and Messi absolutely need to start every game. I’d give Tevez set pieces too, not Ricquelme.

“Unfortunately”??? There is nothing wrong with Crespo… If anything he has a lot more experience then Tevez. Just be happy with have them both because they are both amazing players in there own unique ways! I would switch up the set pieces, I wouldn’t allow Riquelme to take every single one… That isn’t fair… Creates divisions in the team…

Crespo isn’t as powerful as Tevez, nor as fast. Tevez’s game is suited to the Argentinian flair and ground game. Crespo’s good at an Italian style of play which doesn’t jive as well with the flow of the arg game.

I’m not sure if I agree 100% with that… remember Crespo plays well everywhere he goes… In all styles… He is powerful in the air… You don’t see Tevez heading the ball as much as Crespo, moreover Crespo is that type of guy that knows where the ball is going to end up… He is kinda like “el jardinero” Cruz…

That’s right, Crespo heads, which again goes back to playing italian style. Argentinian game is more of a ground game which Tevez is better at.

at the end of the day it the strikers should be chosen according to the medfield. With the current med of riq, mash and cambiasso who are good on the ground then tevez sgould play cos he can run on the end of the balls. however if zannetti and sorin are going foward and croosing the balls in then crespo is the man. therefore a combination of tevez and crespo could be ideal.

By the way did anyone see dallesandro play for portsmouth against charlton, he was on top form

You know what D’Allesandro is awesome! Yeah it should be a mix of Crespo and Tevez.. How can we forget Messi or Saviola? Milito is also a great header of the ball and all around player… He will be good too! I can’t wait to see what these guys are going to do… So many great players, it feels like it is inevitable that Argentina will goo far this world cup… What do you guys think about that? I know last WC we were loaded too, but I don’t know I feel like we are even more loaded this time around… About the goalie situation, don’t forget Goycochea back in 1990…He was spectacular, and prior to the WC Argentina was in the same situation as this year (with Pato)… Anyways… take care guys!

Maybe we need just one or two stars. When Maradona was there, he was the only famous player in the team. Valdano and Burruchaga were good but not famous. When you have too many stars it can become a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth. In a recent article Maradona stated that Argentina’s chances aren’t that good.

I don’t think we have tons of stars… Though. I think our main star is MESSI… Nobody knows Tevez because he doesn’t play in the famous leagues (like the Italian, English, or Spanish) We’ll see… In the history of soccer and WC’s, there were teams that were full of stars and that won! So I don’t think that is a valid argument…

It’s not an argument, just an observation on Argentina’s success at WCs. I’m glad they got rid of some players that weren’t that good - Veron, and another guy who was called “Little Diego” but was no good, and another player just last year who had the number 10 shirt but was no good.

Ariel Ortega was one guy they got rid of… I remember they thought he was the next maradona (like they do with everyone), but in my opinion he isn’t “good enough”. Who else did they get rid of that is still around playing? hmmm help me out here… Ortega is the only one I can think of… Veron yes, i’m glad he is gone… Too pretentious…

Yeah Ortega was the one they called Little Diego. I couldn’t stand the guy, he would try to dribble and fail miserably while playing for the national team. The other guy they got rid of wore the 10 shirt, he had really short cropped hair, light skin, always drew fouls but wasn’t effective, his name was allessandro or something like that.

Why is it that all Argentina players are all extremely talented and gifted but small physically .
Strange coincidence ?
Maradona , Ortgega , Saviola , Messi , Tevez , D Allesandro , Aimar
