Bilos to Play for Croatia

March 8th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | 3 Comments »

Boca Juniors midfielder Daniel Bilos is hoping to play for Croatia at the World Cup. Bilos has not figured into Pekerman’s plans and because he has a grandmother who is from Croatia he is eligible to play for them. According to his agent:

“His dream is to play for Argentina, the country where he was born,” Issa told Argentine media. “But (coach Jose) Pekerman has given his preference to other players and it seems unlikely he will be picked. “They (Croatia) will come next week to talk to Bilos and it’s likely that he will accept, because they want him there.”

I think this is absolutely the wrong decision for Bilos. He is still young enough to figure into Argentina’s plans in the future and he should stick with the country where he was born rather than chase after short term gain elsewhere.

Go for it Bilos. If argentina dont want you then play for croatia. Play for a team that want you as their own. Lets face it he will never make it to the argentina squad or maybe only as a fringe player beacause of the fierce competition in the position he plays in.

Argentina gonna be left red faced if he has an excellent tournament and helps croatia progress further. I dont blame him for choosing croatia.

I think the problem is the national side looks in tatters. It doesn’t matter what talent you get or lose. They need to get organized ASAP.

Good for him..let him go to croatia..Lets face it hes NOT good enough to play for the national side in Argentina. Hes not gonna help Croatia any in my opinion. I think his EGO and big headedness lead him to believe that hes better than wat he really is.
