For those of us who don’t know spanish can you translate what the voiceover says? Thx.

  • sergio

    it says

“that the best player in brazilian soccer is argentine has no price (i.e. is priceless), lets go tevez, lets go argentina, mastercard”

basically a reference to tevez being selected as the best player of the brazilian league this past season..

  • chicago

    that made my day.

  • Corey

that really made my day too

  • Razzle

Heres an interesting tidbit – the Argentina team is incredibly popular in Pakistan (where I come from). They dont root for Saudi Arabia, not Iran, nor any other nation. The whole country wants to see Argentina win. Kinda funny given Pakistan itself has never made it to any World Cup nor probably ever will. And the country doesnt have anything to do with Argentina either.

Interesting how widely football is followed and people pick their fav teams. Pretty cool.

And thx for the translation, its a nice ad.

  • mek

Tevez is class, and Argentina have a very good squad… except Scaloni perhaps :p

Here’s to hopefully not meeting you in the quarter finals…

    CHEERS!

  • Debasish Dutta Roy

    Nice to know razzle.

I come from India and they are vey popular there also. In fact they are the mostly supported team in Nepal also.

I come from a city called Kolkata in India and there I have to accept Argentina is the second choice. They all root for Brazil. The extent is such that it is often said jokingly that if Brazil wins Kolkata celebrates more than Rio.

Its really funny and so very interesting that countries like India, Pakistan and Nepal all support teams who have no link to. Such is the beauty of the game.

I REALLY HOPE ARGENTINA WINS THIS TIME. HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR 20 YEARS

  • Ed

    VAMOS ARGENTINA!!!!!!!!!!!

  • farey

guyz i just wanna ask you a question.i would be great if u reply me.Which nation is the most favourite in this blog???

  • chlorine

everybody should support Argentina… I’m Chinese and I live in Canada and I support Argentina…

    Vamos Vamos!

  • http://B619A Pugnate

    hhahaha Razzle made my chuckle.

Right so I am a Canadian with Pakistani parents who was born and bred in Saudi Arabia… and I am currently in Pakistan on busines.

I support none of thos nations. I am die hard rabid Argentina fan. Been that way since I was 3 with my whole family supporting Argentinian football. I guess it came from watching Maradonna and it stuck.

I can verify what Razzaq..er..Razzler said.. Everyone seems to love Argentinian football… crazy eh?

  • http://B619A Pugnate

BTW I should be supporting Saudi Arabia, but whatever. ;)

Go Argentina. Go Riquelme. Go Tevez. Go Scaloni… wait.. what?

  • carrie

this is an awesome commercial you guys, thanks for the post. the good thing about Argentina is you dont need to be Arge to root for the team, cause during WC you feel and become Arg. Many people from different countries and nationalities root for Argentina, meaning there must be something about the team that unites all soccer fans around the world.
Farey, i believe it is argentina at least on this blog, since its the one with more comments
    “We Are the CHAMPIONS”
    Long Live Argentina

  • Izzy Dillon

    Go Argies GOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

  • mightie

same here… during the world cup 94 wen i was young there used to be a lot of blab on maradona at home. my curiosity to see maradona playing, ended in supporting argentina at the world cup.
nice commercial “JP” i’ll definitely send it to my brazillian friends i wonder how r they gonna repsond to it.
its funny the way tevez celebrates after scoring… i wish he continues to score & dance in that ugly style at every stage of the world cup “inshallah”.
    … go argentina!

  • mightie

nice question “farey”, no doubt its the argentine blog. WE RULE! … this truely shows how much we love & support argentina’s football team.

  • Jonathan

I love this blog especially argentinas page since they are my favorite team and the news and opinions are very informative. I love this add, i live in the usa and all the ads for the cup when i watch soccer games are nikes juega bonita brazil ads and i am sick of them so i love to know there are ads like this out there.

    Vamos Argentina

  • http://www.midnightpraise.com Messay

  • http://France wamdiego10

What does an Argentina jersey cost in the USA ? Is it cheaper than in europe ,?

  • dino

Argentina is a great team. Brasil has won the cup cinco-5 times. Results count, amigos. How can you tire of Brasil,of a winner. Viva Brasil.

  • http://argentina.worldcupblog.org JP

What a GREAT bunch of posts…I’ve sent something you all really need to see to Bob (the guy that runs WorldCupBlog) to see if he can embed it into a post. It puts into pictures something I’m hearing from all of you…something incredible, and unique to Argentina’s relationship with the World Cup.

Razzle…One connection that Argentina and Pakistan have is polo. The sport comes from Pakistan (where I understand it’s still popular) but for the last 100 years, Argentina has adopted it as its own game. It’s probably fourth after Football, rugby, tennis. I’ve met many Pakistanis that have come to Argentina to play.

  • http://argentina.worldcupblog.org JP

    Translation of the Ad…

Background shots of Brazil, Corinthians Futbol Club, Sao Paulo, little boy getting his hair cut…

    “Carlitos Haircut…$15 Reales

    “Oficial Brazilian Soccer Ball…$40 Reales”;

    “Corinthians Jersey…$50 Reales”

“That the best player in Brazilian Futbol is Argentine….Priceless”

    “Go Tevez. Go Argentina”

There’s a shorter version of the ad that plays in Argentina that just shows the haircut part and Carlitos’ dance at the end; it says…

    “To look pretty like Carlitos…Priceless”

  • carrie

I do not know about you guys but I can’t wait longer. I wish it had started already. BTW do you guys know any cool website that I could order Argentine’s jersey, I want an original one. Please inform me if you do
    Love you all
Long live Argentina and its fans

  • carrie

you guys I want you to see this ( if you haven’t seen already) ithttp://youtube.com/watch?v=L0flf7XYwDs&search=argentina is damn cute and funny.

  • carrie
  • Jonathan

    http://www.soccer.com/IWCatSectionView.process?IWAction=Load&Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=1787&Sort=Product_Name

It has some cool argentina parafanella also. If anyone from us is from ny would love to watch the games in bar with fellow argentina fans, watched last time at nevada smiths in city but there is a big mixed crowd in there.

    vamos argentina

  • Jonathan

    That was fantastic!

I sent it to all my friends and family. :D

  • rescorpione17

i am italian and no question about where my heart is but..i love argentina and argentinian football i watch boca almost every sunday and i knew from the start that Carlitos would be great one day..he will show everyone who he is…but ..Zanetti at home ? que una verguenza !!

  • Corey

    CARRIE

Western Sports has original Argentina jerseys, shorts, socks and hats. supprisingly i went there yesterday and they had one left. The dark blue away. The owner said that they just got more. A sales rep told me that they were the fastest selling jersey that they have. go figure with the amount of Brazillians we have to deal with!

  • fab

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMJQTFoOi38

you guys will love this one

FINALLY a nike commercial for argentina

  • DM

Tevez is a beast! I am hoping he can be the revelation this world cup. His squat, strong stature is not unlike a famous argentinian.

  • argiebargie

Its amazing to see so many different nationalies of different cultures coming together to support Argentina.

I’ve been born and bred in england, the country which probably has the greatest rivalry with Argentina. You guys have honestly got to see the great albicelestes fan base here in england, you’ll be stunned. I

  • ARGENTINAOVERALL

We ,the European champions GREECE, suppport Argentina to be the great winners of the world cup. Proud to bee greek, proud to be an Argentina fun. Let;s take the trophy 10 years after our last. Even without Javier which is a great loss our time has come.

  • http://www.viuasfotos.com/euler.htm Euler

Hey JP, only now you saw this commercial? I wrote about it last month!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GasinJ1omGI

Of course I was annoyed by it, but we must recognize it was very well thought.

  • http://www.viuasfotos.com/euler.htm Euler
  • http://www.midnightpraise.com Messay

yall please please help, does anyone know any website that show any argentina games??? the friendlies????

  • http://argentina.worldcupblog.org JP

Euler…I live half the time in Buenos Aires, so I see all these ads – it’s just that I’m ‘technologically challenged’ and so just figured out how to find them on the web. I’ve made a collection, but I can’t paste wmv files into the blog…I’m still trying to figure that one out.

  • omar

the most beautiful thing for me is to not seeing Scalonia ! ! playing, and not with a lateral Libero ( Sorin ) ; this way can be used only in a friendly match, but not in the WC !

    Omar Sivori

  • asil

I was at the stadium celebrating like hell when Argentina won 1997 Junior World Cup in Kuala Lumpur. Now, after 9 years, I hope Aimar, Riquelme, Scaloni, Cambiasso, Cufre will bring those memory again!

  • farey

why argentine blog has more comments than other nations such as brazil, england, italy etc.?does it mean that arg has more fans?anywayz arg game is really nice than any other nation in the world.do u guys agree with me?

  • http://France wamdiego10

I think ARGENTINA has more fans than the other teams, of course, but as you can see when you watch TV there’s only comercials about Brazil. Argentina suffers from a lack of media exposure.
This is an injustice, this will be fixed by Tevez and Co in June/July 2006…

  • Danny

For me i think Argentina can win this world cup if they don’t meet BRAZIL:”The definition of soccer” Brazil is the standard. I can’t imagine a world cup without Brazil

  • Stuker

hi, everybody out there, i’m from arg living in arg. I can’t belive how much people & wide nationalities became fan of argentina’s team. Make feel proud & i expect my team play as far as possible, no matter if we loose(no, it does matters), but i want that the eleven warriors at the field leave their heart and leave the “campo” DIGNAMENTE(with dignity).
During the WC here everythings stops…no other subjet to talk,to see, to read, to think except soccer. It is passion!.Thanks to everyone for the support!!!!

  • fft04

go argentina go…!!!! that is where the real magic in football is..!!

  • http://rasensio.blogspot.com Rodrigo

Fuck! Im an Argentinian living in USA, NC. I cant believe all the support from other countries. Thanks!!! lol, hey! “argiebargie” from England, you are almost right. But our first “enemy” is Brazil, after that, you. In 1990, 8th finals, kick out the “brazucas” from the WC was one of happiest moments of my life. And I know that for they was one of the worst day of their lifes =)

  • Anoop KV

Go argentina……. Gooooo……….. Win the cup of life

HEY stuker r u mad a indian argentine like me! or a real argentine hummmmmmm???

  • Stuker

Yes, I’m a real argentinian, Anoop KV, living in BS. By far I believe that the only team able to beat Brazil is Arg, which demands more than phisical effort. You need to have hard heart, “Hambre de victoria” to beat Brazil. They do play well, but they have weakness
whenever they face the argentinian t-shirt. It is a mutual respect and noone wants to meet during the WC. But if you want to be the champion, must be ready for all and fearless.
Go ARG, and thank everybody for the supporting!!!!!.

  • Pepe

I support Spain, but i hope Argentina will be this World Cup Champion!

    Vamos, vamos Argentina!!!!

  • habouba

hi everybody ….. i am from lebanon and i am in love with argentina … we all believe on you argentina …. you are the champian in our heart ….

hugs and kisses for argentinian fans

  • panos

    hello.
