Bad luck for us this time.
There are always excuses when your team loses.
The Ref, the coach, the misses, the injuries, the homefield advantage…
I’m not going make excuses. Anyone can do that and everyone has their opinions.
I’m writing now to give thanks.
Two great teams battled for 120 minutes.
It was a fantastic soccer match.
That’s why we love this game. Anything can happen.
Your heart didn’t stop racing.
You cheered. You were sad.
Some of you may have cried.
But cheer up.
You just experienced an incredible, emotional event like no other sport in the world can deliver.
Argentina lead most of the 2nd half.
Germany equalized with a fantastic goal.
If they played each other 10 times, I’m sure each team would win 5 times.
Did the better team lose today?
No.
Did the better team win today?
No.
There is no better team.
There is luck. There is fortune.
Germany scored their penalty kicks, and stopped Argnetina’s.
Today was their day, so Congratulations to Germany!
Their country is full of joy, and I hope they win the cup.
Congratulations to Argentina.
You gave us memories that we’ll never forget.
Our players will never be forgotten, and we have a fantastic future.
There will be more World Cups.
Until they arrive, enjoy this one while it lasts.
If our team can’t lift the cup, then let it be the home country.
Hopefully we can host it again, and maybe we’ll have the luck.
Hold your head up high.
We were just unlucky, today.

This is so bitter. I guess, in the end they deserved to win because they had a little bit more the last 10 minutes of the game. But this is so incredibly heart-braking. Oh well, we did our best, let’s move on and prove to be great winners and losers and great hosts. Go Germany!

Let the best team win the world cup and if France wins tomorrow then France truly DESERVES to be the undisputed world champs for the next 4 years. But if they lose, i’ll like to see Portugal winning the world cup. Don’t like to see Italy makin’ it 4.

Interesting…
Argentina and Mexico go late, Argentina advances tired.
Argentina and Germany go late, Germany advances tired.
Germany and Italy go late, Italy advances tired.
See a trend?
I say unless Portugal and France go late,
Expect to see one of these 2 beating Italy in the final.

Dear non Latino,
I see that you have the US flags at the bottom, so I am assuming you are from there.
Well, I remember a footage from the CNN some months ago about a NBA game, I believe it was the Pistons against some other team that ended in a brawl. At least in the ARG/GER brawl no spectator got hurt.
Probably you would also want to remember one of the greatest tragedy in a soccer stadium, on May 29th 1985, in Brussels where 39 Italian citizens died slaughtered by English hooligans and these were non latinos, just like youself.
So your pretty WASP lips can kiss my hairy latino ass, dude.

Sunny & Gaz : Hahah. Oh well. I didn’t believe the article anyway. =) But I’m still kinda upset that Argentina lost the match. I haven’t been eating well for the past few days… *groan*
Sunny : Could’ve been a different newspaper. I think reporters and journalists are taught to exaggerate to get more readers. I’ll commend their imagination. =D

that was a dirty, and low blow!!!
how dare you try to make this issue about race? how many times have we seen reports of violence connected to matches having nothing to do with any latin country???
i wish i could erase my country’s flag from your hateful post.

Loved the shit some of you threw…
Mostly halfway through the page.
Just LOVED it.
Keep talking shit.
I already stated the facts here:
http://argentina.worldcupblog.org/1/they-owe-us-a-star.html
Not excuses. Facts.
I don’t plan to do it again.
So from there, you can pick and choose what you liked the most, and talk some more.
Lucky for me, I thought this blog would be more cheerful and less disrespectful. Specially with this guy being so… nice. x)
Bleh, how wrong i was.
Like the Argie players, I don’t take shit from anyone, hoes.
I hate seeing people talk crap about the Argie players being “brutal” and “animal-like”. Geez, I could write a novel telling you about fights in games from any sport.
Nationaly and race doesn’t have shit to do with it. Damn. Fuck off.
Son todos boludos aca.
Chau, me voy a eschuchar a los Autenticos. (:

Golden Ball Award???It looks like Zidane is going to get that.
I could have add a couple of more players to that list!!

Somebody in LA NACION mentioned Batistuta for the future next Argentinian coach team
Any true on that??

TOM,
I read that as well. Batistuta said he was ready to take the position, but I don’t know what is the exact status about it.

I was absolutely disgusted at the behaviour of the German fans. It is a disgrace for the host nation to tolerate whistling (during the Italian game they whistled at every ball contact as well as when Italian players were injured, and I mean REALLY injured!).
I live in this country and pointed this out to a couple of colleagues after the Argentina match and told them to watch out for it during the Italian match. Interestingly, they all said after the Italian match that they didn’t notice the whistling at all - jusst goes to show you one only hears what one wants to!
Excusing this as ‘normal’ behaviour is absolutely ridiculous, as I said, especially for the host nation. The happy faces of the German fans presented here in themedia is sickening. My biggest problem however was how this behaviour was tolerated in the media. Not one article on the subject, comment by commentators (why not!!!!!!), or on tv! This has nothing to do with being patriotic or anything else - it is unacceptable behaviour and way over the top.
I was happy to see the Germans lose if only for the sake of seeing this mass hysteria finally come to an end!

Too bad ,is over on sunday..and still I have this sour taste that we could have been there at the end. ARGENTINA was and is the very best team…like Jonathan ,well said it ..not luck
may be 2010!!!
VAMOS ARGENTINA!!!!

@ Leo
The German fans were mad because the Italian media pushed the blocking of Frings for the game. The investigation was already over, but the Italian media pushed to punish frings, because he…well… “punched” an Argenitinan player after being hit (at least) once.
This loss was really though on GErmany and definitly helped the Italians to win the game. It was especially bitter because initially the investigation was stopped AND the Argenitian player said, that he did not notice being hit.

Now FIFA suspended CUFRE for 4 games because of the incidents after the Game. Maxi for 2 games

Argentine is as always a bad loser
but after all they deserved to lose again vs Germany. Really bad that we couldnt see maradona crying.

this story with frings is ridiculous. it doesn’t matter who turned him in - the video footage showed clearly that he hit Cruz and that’s the end of the story. the argentinians were penalised as well, or has this been forgotten!
As I’ve said already - there is no excuse for whistling at every ball contact and especially not during penalties being taken (this is not ‘normal’ behaviour - no comments from anyone on this I see……
