back to football
I think it would be nice to get back the reason why this site exists. Football.
here are somethings that are burning me.
Heinze - he has said we will know his future by this weekend. I really hope he stays at Man U and fight. The only reason he wants to leave is because Evra is challenging him. Heinze is a fighter, i hope he stays. Ferguson has said time and time again, the problem with hienze is, his agent. His agent is whats causing all this drama.
Tevez - looks like its almost done. Westham are expected to announce the agreement tomorrow. I am curious however. Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez, Giggs, Nani on the same team. No real poacher. no Valnestroy.
Crespo - You deserve so much more. Crespo has came out to defend argentina. He said we arent “losers” surely we have lost some important games, but we have won important games as well. He has also said, He will fight for a place for the 2010 WC. I wish all our players would have the heart of CRESPO. Fight for the shirt please. fight for your flags. fight for your country. fight for your people.
- see international soccer is huge in my eyes, because the players arent just playing for themselves. they are playing for every single countrymen of their country.
Maradona - He is at it again, criticizing Basile. He said he wasnt sad when we lost. From the looks of it, diego doesnt really approve the jobs of all our coaches, may be he is throwing a hint at the AFA to appoint him at the head coaching possition.
VERON - He has said, he has told tevez not to go to MAN U. I dont know about you guys, but i am just so tired of veron. every since 2002 i just never liked him. WHy come out and say this to the public? specially at this time, where tevez is going through so much. so low of him. its one thing to tell tevez in private, but to say this to the media is trash.
Aguero - this is his year to shine. rise up. Show the world.
Higuain - many has said he should be laoned. I am not one of them. higuain has played well the last few weeks of the regular season. Matter of fact extreemly well. He is too young, but he has great potential.
Messi - maradona has asked that messi be given the #10 again. what did messi say? He said it would be nice to wear that number, but i care less about the number on my back as long as i am wearing the shirt. My desire is to always be in the national team. (what a jewl we have).
What game am I most excited about seeing this year?
Real Madrid vs Barcelona.
What transfer am i curious about?
Riquelme, where will he end up.
as well as Palacio.
what about you?

It is good to have Saviola and Maxi back. We have so many many amazing players, it is incredible. I like Maxi Rodriguez. He is important. A Zanetti that can score!
It gives headaches to put on paper the best formation.

Toddutah, Maxi Moralez to FC Moscow is bad news.

And Everton, Real Madrid and Valencia seem to battle for Lucho. The price is at 15M euros for the moment, everton leading. Porto demands a 25 M euros transfer fee.

Crespo’s days at Inter may be counting down…..With the great showing of the new player from Honduras David Suazo who is set to be the key player at the front with Ibramovich that leaves a fierce competition for the bench backups with Adriano, Crespo y Cruz. So Crespo could be joining Recoba in searching for a new home.
On the recent games by Barcelona it was nice to see Ronaldinho back in form and I am looking forward to Henry but what is going on with Maxi Lopez? He seems out of his league amongst the rest of the Barca superteam.

ah yes - iut’s all so negative for our Arg players, especially Crespo, huh, mane?
MaxiLopez– thanks for indulging me. I’m fascinated by all this, coming from the US.
About Saviola —
I just get the feeling that he will be the only shining light for Real Madrid this year. Even though the team won the liga, the managemnet seems to be in shambles, and no one wants to go to the team anymore.
plus they are dumb for not going for riquelme. even though he probably wouldn’t have gone, i don’t really understand the dismissive attitude towards him from that club - riquelme would be no different in attitude than what they already have in guti, and he would give million times more to the team.

Maxi, thanks for the inside scoop.
Apart from Barca and a few other clubs in Spain, there arent too many teams outside Argentina that suit Riquelme. Barca doesnt need him because they have lot of good players already. Real Madrid could have used a player like Riquelme but that would mean totally changing their style from last season. I hoped RM’s new coach would change their style but that doesnt seem to be happening anytime soon. So I think Boca is the best place for him. Btw, I think to see Riquleme in a Boca uniform is strangely satisfying and pure.
Lucho moving to Everton would definitely be a bad move. English soccer is getting richer (thanks to blatant hype & marketing BS) and that does not bode well for other leagues (where I would like to see Argentines play).

Basile is a genius. Argentina 2007 played better than any other national team in the last 20 years. Nobody came close to that greatness.

Maxilopez - what kind of rarified, dreamy world did you live in? I want to walk out of my door and see a world class player, no matter how clueless or arrogant he is! Thanks for the inside info
Just a note — Higuain is out for a month with an injury. Not even sure if he would have been called up for the next friendly, but now it looks like a no.

The list of 20 players for our next friendly is:
Carrizo, Ustari, Sergio Romero, Coloccini, Burdisso, Zanetti, Gaby Milito, Garay, Cata Díaz, Lucho González, Cristian Ledesma, Mascherano, Maxi Rodríguez, Insúa, José Sosa, Gago, Saviola, Diego Milito, Messi and Lavezzi.
Basile doesn’t have players from Argentina because it’s Apertura season now and there are contractual commitments.

MaxiLopez, what an interesting story…
Thanks for sharing it with us.

i don’t understand why is basile going back to federico insua. this is an awful move the guy provided no attacking the last two friendlies he has played. plus isn’t he playing in the mexican league, i thought this friendly was going to be euro based only. why has basile not called aimar or d’allesandro and who will be insua’s back up. i just hope he adds one more playmaker to this list.

Estos son los 20 futbolistas convocados:
Arqueros: Juan Pablo Carrizo (Lazio, ITA), Oscar Ustari (Getafe, ESP) y Sergio Romero (AZ Alkmaar, NED).
Defensores: Gabriel Milito (Barcelona, ESP), Fabricio Coloccini (Deportivo, ESP), Javier Zanetti (Inter, ITA), Nicolás Burdisso (Inter, ITA), Daniel Díaz (Getafe, ESP) y Ezequiel Garay (Racing, ESP).
Mediocampistas: Luis González (Porto, POR), Maximiliano Rodríguez (Atlético de Madrid, ESP), José Sosa (Bayern Munich, GER), Javier Mascherano (Liverpool, ENG), Fernando Gago (Real Madrid, ESP), Christian Ledesma (Olympiakos, GRE) y Federico Insúa (América, MEX).
Delanteros: Diego Milito (Zaragoza, ESP), Lionel Messi (Barcelona, ESP), Ezequiel Lavezzi (Napoli, ITA) y Javier Saviola (Real Madrid, ESP).

basile is from boca all boca players have 1 up on others thats why you will see insua

Fab, Basile is not a fan of Boca Juniors.
His heart is with Racing Club, where he played as a defensive midfielder.
What happens is that when he became coach for Boca Jrs. he created a team that was like a machine.
I saw them. they were fantastic.
Right now, with the exception of Messi, I believe Basile is only testing subs.

Correction, Messi and Mascherano are the only sure starters in this team.

Hi all,
just soiling my pants with work, work and some more work.
Maxi m’man! you’ve been rubbing shoulders with the big guns eh? Man, if I saw one of those players outside my door some morning, I think I’d shit myself.
Maxi, you also mentioned that maybe carlitos can win the hearts of the Man-U fans and be the new Cantona.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Tevez (Asil etc would be proof of that). I’d want him to remain just that. And honestly , in my opinion, there’s only ONE ERIC CANTONA.
What a player, and more importantly - what a character. it’s folks like him who bring the charm and character to football and make it so different! I’ll never , ever, ever forget his celebrations. He is one of the only reasons why I am ok with Man-U and I started to LOVE EPL.
I think i’ve started fantasizing again.

Vick, your thoughts are my thoughts, there is only one Cantona .

Well I like the goalkeeping selections for one thing.
Still don’t know why Gaby is in or Colocinni or Insua(no Aimar ?).I’d rather have Emiliano in than F. Cambiasso is omitted too.
Otherwise its a good youthful selection testing ahead of the WCQs & Olympics & bold with Lavezzi being added.
I’d have liked to see Dimichelis recalled(what must he do ?) to the back as a solid reliable thinking defender with height & Aguero upfront.
Higuain is a shame.Next friendly he ought to be fit along with Cavegol who all things being equal have found his shooting boots to be in the frame again for selection.
Maxi lovely stories. Papin was superb for a while, a pity perhaps he was not born a few years earlier to link up with the likes of Giresse ,Platini & co.

I am disappointed.
- Why no Aimar?
- If Mascherano can make it from EPL, why no Tevez?
- Why are Federico Insua and Coloccini in the squad? I am not sure if they are good enough to make the NT.

Tevez should be in a good position to succeed in the EPL, though I’m curious to see how it plays out for Man-U.
With options such as - Tevez, Rooney, C. Ronaldo, Nani, Anderson up front, it will be interesting to see what tactics Sir Alex employs.
Manolo - glad to see another fan of “The King of Old Trafford”. His goals, vision, passing , off-field antics, ads, -make him unique. Love him or hate him, you JUST CANT AVOID HIM!
Aurelius - Cavegol by all means has been a disappointment so far. I expected (and still expect) a LOT LOT more from him. He’s wasting it.
And can someone fill me in on Higuain? I mean, what’s so special about him? The one thing that he’s got going for him is probably work ethic. Other than that, i don’t see any supreme talent, vision, speed or an eye for goal that supposedly is to set him apart from the rest of them mortals? Honestly, what am I missing?

Aimar10, i don’t understand either why Basile picks Insua. He likes his Boca players. But don’t forget that this friendly means really nothing. Our guys must rest during summer. Another game for Zanetti, one day he’ll get injured. But maybe he’s just a alien?
Alexa, it’s funny when you see players living in your building. But it’s not that fascinating. I saw some players in the street but i’ve forgotten who. At that time, my father was an engineer so we were living in a very nice place in Milan.
We went to the stadium each weekend to watch Inter & Milan games during 7/8 years! I saw the best players of the decade. I saw Zidane twice. Believe me he was outstanding, no comparaison with the other players. He comes from another planet. After the game, i lost my voice. It was really incredible. My father and me couldn’t belive this. He was playing at la Juve, a very tactical team, and was just dancing. He never lost a ball. NEVER. I never saw him losing a pass during 180 mns. He was keeping possession for la Juve, Inter or Milan couldn’t play. A maestro. I also saw Batistuta destroying Inter & Milan, Georges Weah, Laurent Blanc, Ronaldo, Thuram, Desailly, Cannavaro, Nesta, Veron, Crespo, Salas, Djorkaeff, Gullit, Ridjkaard, Maldini, Vieri, Trezeguet, Inzaghi, Del Piero… can you imagine? I also saw some CL games. Guys i’m so lucky for this. The Argentine people i remember the most are Batigol and Crespo. They were frightened by everyone in the stadium. Impressive. I saw Veron (Parma), Simeone (average but a leader), Redondo (i don’t remember well, i was only 13 years old), Sensini, Ortega (Sampdoria, a superb volley on the post, very spectacular player), Chamot, Ayala (Milan), Samuel, Zanetti. etc.

Maybe guys like Aimar, Crespo, Cambiasso have not been picked in order to rest. But why doesn’t Basile explains this?
You are right Vick, there is only one single Canto. Eric would have never signed a MSI contract, he would have spit on Kia’s face! Haha.
I love to see that Pato is out. Do you want to delete Pato? Yes? Click. Now it is Ustari and Carrizo’s turn.
Agree with you Aurelius. De Michelis should be tested. Samuel too.

Vick, i agree again with you concerning Higuain.

I’m actually glad to see a few players in Basile’s side. Notably Garay And Sosa and Daniel Diaz. I think Basile understands that Riquelme won’t be around neither will Aimar. IMHO Aimar is a shadow of what he used to be at Valencia. Time for the young guns to blend in with the more experienced ones (Maxi, Lucho, Mascherano) and play Basile’s type of football. Also defense this time around has speed - which was clearly lacking in the Copa America.

ajNYHC,
If the team is not united and well balanced, having 4 fast defenders will be useless.
Aimar and Riquelme will be around in 2010. Aimar is magnificent and excellent in short passes.
Aimar never had his chance to start with the NT even when Riquelme had retired. Don’t minimize his talent only because 2 coaches didn’t start him. He quit Valencia because of Carboni. This year, Zaragoza will probably be in the top 4 of la liga. I hope Aimar will shine. Last year, he had no defensive midfielders beside him.
