PS/FYI, especially to AL
et all,

Here's a few more facts/stats that I forgot to mention regarding the Argentina vs Brasil and Maradona vs Pele debate ?

Argentina vs Brasil con't:

1. Official games between these two giants: After 71 games
Arg won 29
Bra won 26
Ties 16
Note: Most goals scored in any one match was by Arg in which they beat Brasil 6 to 1 on 05/03/1940

2. Copa America - Already stated on my last comment.
Arg 15 titles
Bra 7 titles

3. Principal or major continental tournaments of between Clubs:

Arg 55 titles
Bra 36 titles

Example:
a) Copa Libertadores
   After 47 tourneys:

Arg 20 titles
Bra 13 titles

b) Copa Intercontinental -
   already mentioned.

   After 43 tourneys:

Arg 9 titles
Bra 6 titles

c) Copa Sudamericana
   After 4 editions

Arg 3 titles
Bra 0 titles

d) Recopa Sudamericana
   After 13 tourneys

Arg 4 titles
Bra 4 titles

e) Copa Interamericana
   After 18 tourneys

Arg 7 titles
Bra 0 titles

f) Supercopa "Joao Havalenge"
   After 10 tourneys

Arg 6 titles
Bra 3 titles

Maradona vs Pele con't:

This topic is obviously very subjective, therefore FIFA consulted DTs from all around the world, x-players, news/sports editors, andthe general futbol fan public, and what they found out was this:
The overall vote via internet voting, overwhelmingly, and by a grand majority went to Maradona.
So there are the facts, you all decide now.

To tell you the truth, I love them both, Argentina and Brasil.
They're both great and always will be be world "futbol superpowers".
Since I'm from Argentina, I'll always go with Argentina, but my second place vote has always gone to Brasil followed by Uruguay.

Obviously, this Argentina vs Brasil debate will never end so I'll end by saying that my final overall vote goes to South American futbol !

Hey Al,

Take it easy amigo, we're only talking about futbol here. Why are you so down against gaucho futbol, it's probably because you can't handle the truth, because, both on paper and on the field Argentine players and teams have and still are better than Brasil, and here's why.
First of all, Maradona was many times voted the best futbol player in the history of the game (the only reason why Pele has been placed on top sometimes is only because of Maradona's off field problems, and you know that). Maradona was and always will be the most naturally gifted futbol player of all times, and believe it or not, Argentine (River Plate to Real Madrid) great Alfredo Di Stefano was even a more skilled player than Pele on the field, and that was by many expert's opinions. There's no doubt that Pele was and always will be a great player, but he had a great cast around him to make him look even better help him achieve that greatness, like Garrincha, which I and many believed to be a more skilled player than Pele, it's just that Pele got all the glory because he got to finish the beautiful setups by his teamates(I have many full vintage WC games/footage, and old Santos FC games and training films showing Pele to prove it)Believe me, individually, Pele was no match to the great Maradona, but I know you'll never buy that, and you'll call me and my Argentina bad names after you read all this truth, but that's OK, I can handle it.

As far as the teams go, Argentina, with less than one sixth the population of Brasil, has many more futbol titles than Brasil, just look at the tournament stats.
First, I'm sure you read Riquelme's tournament stats, and I'll add the following:
Argentina has actually won 15 Copa Americas to Brasil's 7, and 9 Intercontinental cups by 6 different teams compared to Brasil's 6 by 4 different teams, and more than anyone else for that matter.
Did Riquelme also mention that Argentina's U19 teams have won 5 world titles compared to Brasil's 4.
Anyway, for what it's worth, there it is. The truth happened on many futbol fields and is now in the history books, and no one can change that, not even you with your bad feelings and words. No matter what you say, it won't change the facts !
OK, now it's your turn to lower yourself again and say bad meaningless words about me and my Agentina, but as I said earlier, that's OK, I can take it because I and everyone else knows what the truth is and always will be.

You bet I'm proud, ..... Al !

Mr. Al,

May be you can help me here. A number of bloggers want Galazo, but he only represents PURE MEDIOCRITY;

I really feel bad because I believe that a person of the caliber of Ken may never contribute again . I feel it is my mistakes because I was trying to bring back Galazo, an idiot born of immigrants who probably have achieved nothing on his own just like our old Jason....

what if argentina wins the worldcup?

argentina would go crazy!! great celebration that would last for a decade in their minds!! argentinians still cherish the maradona team that won the cup.....but what happens when brazil wins the cup? brazilians celebrate and within months they start looking forward to the next one. this underlines the difference between these two countries. brazil has so much to offer than the world and brazilians themselves expect their team to win at all times!!
what is the new "thing" in brazil right now? everybody is waiting to celebrate teh 1,000 by romario. while other countries top players would be happy to have won a couple of big tournaments and goal scoring trophies brazilians are again looking at a great feat that separates romario in this case from any other scorer of the time. brazil is used to greatness and that is a profound difference guys. look at the world awards and you'll find a host of brazilians all around the world and times. I repeat what I have said time and time again: for each argentinian player that is great brazil has produced ten!! population or no population is irrelevant.

Cienciao,
I did not say Brasil is second to Argentina. According to the latest FIFA classification, Brasil is no longer the number one! I agree Brasil is still the top contender but this does not guarantee that they will be the winner. I hope they win Copa America which should make you happier. Cheers
