Di Maria was playing for Benfica in his first champions league match, even though they lost 2-1, he played a good game.
Lucho v Mascherano was a 1-1 draw. Galleti scored his first champions league goal for Olympiakos but they could only draw 1-1.

MaxiLopez,
Argentinos Juniors has always produced great young players.
How 'bout Maradona for example?
It's a club located in the middle of the "barrio" area of Grand Buenos Aires.
All the boys, almost literally, play football.
But since it's a small institution they have to sell the talent while it's still young.

Nine games into the Apertura, Indepediente and Boca are at the top with 19 points.
Than there are 15 teams within 5 points of each other (!).
The Torneo is hot this year.
Most people are paying all their attention to the Apertura and, as mentioned above, this quadruple duel between Brazilian and Argentinean teams for the Copa Sudamericana, starting tomorrow.

Besides, people don't wanna go crazy about the NT team at this point. The lesson back in 2001 was a hard one to swallow, when under Bielsa we were winning everything and playing exquisite football.
All that to get to WC02 and get kicked back home before even playing a second round game.
That really hurt.
At least in 06 we were able to show something.
But in 2002 we really had to dig in to be able to bounce back from it.
There are a number of people who like Basile and a number who don't. And believe me, it has little to do with Boca. I, for one, relate Basile to Racing more than Boca, even when his last work at team level was with Boca.
Basile is a typical "porteño" who couldn't care less about people's opinion.
But it's also true that it's time to show some football and some wins.
His time is starting to run out.
We'll see during the qualies.

Albo, what are people saying concerning Basile and Argentina's future? I am sure 40% of the population, which are Boca fans will support him. I am curious to know what are believing the "neutral" ones...

I don't know how are ranked Argentinos Juniors, the pibe factory, but they must be at a good place, having good results this season. I wouldn't be surprised if big talents raise from there is some time.

I think the Apertura is turning out to be the most exciting league so far this season. I hope Messi recovers before the CL opening round. Not sure how he got injured but I am not convinced that his international duty caused that injury. Big clubs these days quickly and unfairly blame internationals for player injuries.

In Buenos Aires these days, people talk about Basile and the future of the Albiceleste.
But also there's the Apertura (league), with many teams within a few points.
And the Copa Sudamericana (2nd to Libertadores) getting into the last rounds.
Starting this week, 4 argentinean teams are going to face 4 brazilian teams.
Everybody down there are pretty exited about it.

Boca Juniors (Arg) - San Pablo FC (Brazil)

Botafogo (Brazil) - River Plate (Arg)

Lanús (Arg) - Vasco da Gama (Brazil)

Goiás (Brazil) - Arsenal (Arg)

Sounds like a duel at "The OK corral".

All teams are playing their local championships too, so it'll be up to who has more depth in the bench, I guess.
I'm pretty sure that Fox Sports will carry these games, enjoy.

Same with Aguero. He's fine.
They were saving him for Thursday's UEFA match.

Ken,
I am not from India, but I know a little bit of the language to help you out.

I am from Nepal, if you've ever heard of!!

Maxi Lopez, I feel the same way about Riquelme that he won't have to watch the game from the stands.

Laporta has echoed comments from Cerezo regarding one of the Barca players .He has threatenend to pull all players regardless of football association out of playing internationals.

The power of the G18 is a bit worrying as they have been banging on about this before but I am sure no supporters will stand for the ruination of international football.

Argentina ladies team has been bundled out of the Womens WC. :( They lack power being far too feminine for this level.

Albo its been a fantastic festival of rugby so far. Truth is the Red Rose has been shocking.

The coach Ashton is great as a coach not a frontman. Plus we should have gone for some of the younger pacier more inventive backs & faster forwards to the key area of the breakdowns from the ruck ie Haskell, Flood, Strettle.

Looking good for the Pumas to top the group with Ireland desperately out of sorts & from there a semi final is a real possibility. More parties across Argentina & SIC . :)

I'm afraid Tonga & Samoa might even cause another upset .

Pleased by the so called minnows efforts & I hope the idiots at the IRB don't decide to cull the final teams from 20 to 16 though no doubt they will. :(

Sylvestre is out for the season Maxi. Funny how things work out in football.Right now Heinze would stroll back into the United team.

Disappointed by Basile not persisting with Garay ( whos excelled again in the Liga). Otherwise was nice to see Demichelis recalled as I suggested but still GMilito around ?

Messi injured again ? Stress injuries from fatigue. Barca should give Krkic & Dos Santos more playing time when they can.

Chau .Take care one & all. And no more infighting !
