…but Atletico could only manage a draw. Just like Zaragoza they have made a very bad start to the season. 2 points in 3 games…
By the way: Crespo also scored today.

Guys, I seriously think that Fernando Belluschi is the new argentine phenomenon. he scored again today . twice..that’s 5goals in 2games. during this winter he should accepts any offer to go to real madrid or inter milan or barcelona.

God Bless………

I agree J-Argie, the way Belluschi is scoring, I’m sure Basile has taken notice.
He could be the # 9 we’re missing.
Although not a big guy, he’s got that explosive first step, which is the mark of a striker.
Both, excellent goals!!!

Atletico Madrid president furious with Aguero’s Australia jaunt
tribalfooball.com - September 16, 2007

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo is furious that striker Sergio Aguero was called away with Argentina last week for their friendly in Australia - only to play for less than 60 seconds.
“It seems to me absolutely ridiculous that a player must travel to the other side of the world for a friendly game,” said Cerezo, “especially when it is the club that pays his wages.

“If it was an official Copa America game you could understand it, but for a friendly it is not good enough.

“The only good thing was that he hardly played, so there was no risk of injury.”

Albo do you have a link for today’s belluschi’s goals.
i agree with u too Albo, but don’t u think that a sudden change from MF to FW sriker could be a little hard on him.
…………………
Heys guys people in argentina are talking about the new number of river plate Marcos Gastón Rubén he is only 19 years old , and he has scored countless times; and Tigre ’s #9 Leandro Lazzaro. they are both young and goal scorrers
…………………..
Toddutah, i agree with you . i don’t know why he took aguero out of the game so early. well the problem with Atletico madrid is that they are a yong team with not that many famous and big and experienced players + a bad coach. Aguero needs to be permanent starter so he could find his place and get use to it and multiply his skills.. If any body has any link for aguero’s goal today , please post it.

Boca visited Banfield and beat them 0-6, with 4 goals by Palermo!!!
Ledesma scored again.
I really hope Basile looks at what we have at home too. Gracián (who also scored today) is becoming an awesome enganche.

It’d be unfair, when talking about arg. scorers, not to mention the current leader.
Germán Dennis (Independiente) has scored 11 times in 9 games. And none of his goals are PKs, all plays !!!
Someone to have in mind…

Belluschi (River Plate) and Ledesma (Boca Juniors) have 6 goals each. And both are midfielders who could be excellent strikers!!

Albo,

Might I take the liberty of giving you a piece of advice? Why don’t you ignore Ken completely? There is no point in responding to every silly allegation of his -he is not going to change and your rebuttals are only encouraging him. You cannot discuss with someone who suffers from a multiple identity disorder, as the whole point of multiple identities is to avoid all responsibility for past actions. He may not go away, but at least this blog will be a little bit more peaceful. What do you say? Cheers.

I’ll try to read the posts later.

I strongly believe that Saviola is our best striker after Crespo.

I was boring myself yesterday evening, nothing on the Italian channels. So i watched ARG-SM only for the third time (!). Wow, I am beginning to be fan of Pekerman which is completely unexpected. I forgot that Argentina had completely focused its attacks on the left side with Riquelme, Sorin and Maxi. Tremendous. The covering and defence of Mascherano, Lucho (then cambiasso), Burdisso and even Saviola, on the right was clever in order to balance all this. SM had weak points on their right and Pekerman knew it.
Argentina destroyed them with the Sorin-Riquelme-Maxi-Saviola combo and then with Messi.

Ciao.

Ken, it is Blatter’s fault if the best football players get injured because they play far too much. They don’t even train anymore which also has a bad influence on the beautiful game. The beautiful game doesn’t appear like this, by magic, you need to train to play well.

Then, obviously, coaches like Ridjkaard are crazy to play their forwards every 3 days for 3 years now.

Concerning Riquelme, he will play with Villareal. I am sure about that. If Villareal wanted to make him pay about their conflict, they would have not let him on the bench until january. Instead, they would have sold him to Everton…

Great post Albo about Maradona. But you didn’t need to justify yourself. Don’t respond to provocating people, otherwise they will stick at you. Don’t lose your time. Lets talk about Argentina and Basile’s scaring tactics instead.

Laporta has echoed comments from Cerezo regarding one of the Barca players .He has threatenend to pull all players regardless of football association out of playing internationals.

The power of the G18 is a bit worrying as they have been banging on about this before but I am sure no supporters will stand for the ruination of international football.

Argentina ladies team has been bundled out of the Womens WC. :( They lack power being far too feminine for this level.

Albo its been a fantastic festival of rugby so far. Truth is the Red Rose has been shocking.

The coach Ashton is great as a coach not a frontman. Plus we should have gone for some of the younger pacier more inventive backs & faster forwards to the key area of the breakdowns from the ruck ie Haskell, Flood, Strettle.

Looking good for the Pumas to top the group with Ireland desperately out of sorts & from there a semi final is a real possibility. More parties across Argentina & SIC . :)

I’m afraid Tonga & Samoa might even cause another upset .

Pleased by the so called minnows efforts & I hope the idiots at the IRB don’t decide to cull the final teams from 20 to 16 though no doubt they will. :(

Sylvestre is out for the season Maxi. Funny how things work out in football.Right now Heinze would stroll back into the United team.

Disappointed by Basile not persisting with Garay ( whos excelled again in the Liga). Otherwise was nice to see Demichelis recalled as I suggested but still GMilito around ?

Messi injured again ? Stress injuries from fatigue. Barca should give Krkic & Dos Santos more playing time when they can.

Chau .Take care one & all. And no more infighting !

Ken,
I am not from India, but I know a little bit of the language to help you out.

I am from Nepal, if you’ve ever heard of!!

Maxi Lopez, I feel the same way about Riquelme that he won’t have to watch the game from the stands.

In Buenos Aires these days, people talk about Basile and the future of the Albiceleste.
But also there’s the Apertura (league), with many teams within a few points.
And the Copa Sudamericana (2nd to Libertadores) getting into the last rounds.
Starting this week, 4 argentinean teams are going to face 4 brazilian teams.
Everybody down there are pretty exited about it.

Boca Juniors (Arg) - San Pablo FC (Brazil)

Botafogo (Brazil) - River Plate (Arg)

Lanús (Arg) - Vasco da Gama (Brazil)

Goiás (Brazil) - Arsenal (Arg)

Sounds like a duel at “The OK corral”.

All teams are playing their local championships too, so it’ll be up to who has more depth in the bench, I guess.
I’m pretty sure that Fox Sports will carry these games, enjoy.

I think the Apertura is turning out to be the most exciting league so far this season. I hope Messi recovers before the CL opening round. Not sure how he got injured but I am not convinced that his international duty caused that injury. Big clubs these days quickly and unfairly blame internationals for player injuries.

Albo, what are people saying concerning Basile and Argentina’s future? I am sure 40% of the population, which are Boca fans will support him. I am curious to know what are believing the “neutral” ones…

I don’t know how are ranked Argentinos Juniors, the pibe factory, but they must be at a good place, having good results this season. I wouldn’t be surprised if big talents raise from there is some time.

MaxiLopez,
Argentinos Juniors has always produced great young players.
How ’bout Maradona for example?
It’s a club located in the middle of the “barrio” area of Grand Buenos Aires.
All the boys, almost literally, play football.
But since it’s a small institution they have to sell the talent while it’s still young.

Nine games into the Apertura, Indepediente and Boca are at the top with 19 points.
Than there are 15 teams within 5 points of each other (!).
The Torneo is hot this year.
Most people are paying all their attention to the Apertura and, as mentioned above, this quadruple duel between Brazilian and Argentinean teams for the Copa Sudamericana, starting tomorrow.

Besides, people don’t wanna go crazy about the NT team at this point. The lesson back in 2001 was a hard one to swallow, when under Bielsa we were winning everything and playing exquisite football.
All that to get to WC02 and get kicked back home before even playing a second round game.
That really hurt.
At least in 06 we were able to show something.
But in 2002 we really had to dig in to be able to bounce back from it.
There are a number of people who like Basile and a number who don’t. And believe me, it has little to do with Boca. I, for one, relate Basile to Racing more than Boca, even when his last work at team level was with Boca.
Basile is a typical “porteño” who couldn’t care less about people’s opinion.
But it’s also true that it’s time to show some football and some wins.
His time is starting to run out.
We’ll see during the qualies.
Chau.

Di Maria was playing for Benfica in his first champions league match, even though they lost 2-1, he played a good game.
Lucho v Mascherano was a 1-1 draw. Galleti scored his first champions league goal for Olympiakos but they could only draw 1-1.
