Let me know what you think?? and of course Aguante Argentina, nunca vas a perder el mejor hincha del mundo..

Thoughts, comments, analysis, and even haters are welcome to respond.

Firstly, suggesting a non-argentinian coach has nothing to do with suggesting that the argentinian coaches are bad coaches. From my viewpoint I suggest such a move solely with the purpose of rocking the boat a bit, a foreign coach might do what an argentinian coach would not do for a variety of reasons one of which is that he will continue being argentinian. Let me explain, one of the most successful coaches in worldcups is Bora Milutinovic, not because he has won cups but because he has brought five teams to five worldcups and these teams he brought were in disarray because coaches had fallen in the system trap. When Bora made changes he was derided and heavily criticized but he couldn’t care less, he was a mercenary of sorts and after achieving his goal he moved on to another team. Aside from nationalism I see no insult in suggesting that a foreign coach just may do the trick in shacking things a bit. Can somebody here say for sure that it wouldn’t work? I couldn’t say it will work for sure so we are at a point of why not?

Again, Maradona’s most recent comments highlight that the problem is not about the players, they are good to excellent, it is about the system and playing for the wrong reason. This comes from Maradona whom I think argentinians would accept as having the right to have his say about this.

Ken you misintepreted the deriding comment or it was poorly worded.

It was not directed at you but some of Manes comments re the greatness of Argentinian football ended after Maradona etc etc for which he has backtracked.

In any case Tevez as expected will be able to complete his transfer without further problems.

He’s been looking for a new home in Cheshire while on the other hand Ferguson is set to have face to face talks with Heinze when he returns to OT this weekend,to discuss his future & is adamant the player will not be allowed to leave the club.

Juan Menseguez ex River striker is returning home after a quite unsucessful stint at Wolfsburg.

Meanwhile the forgotten man Luciano Figueroa is having an excellent pre-season for Genoa having bagged goals & assists which should see him line up as a starter for the forthcoming serie A season.

Only a full season will see if he has recovered properly & could once again be a NT contender.

Good news for Gonzalo too as his injury is pretty much similar.

Todd Serie A
Internazionale
Roma
AC Milan
Fiorentina/Udinese

Please stop the debate concerning a non-Argentine coach. Argentina is futbol country #1 with Brazil, we have good coaches, attacking minded or not. We have Bianchi, Cuper, good tactical coaches. Argentines want to play beautifully and not with a catenaccio style. It is the priority. Ken, we know everyone’s position here on the blog, the debate is closed.

I wonder which kind of coach Maradona could be. I’m curious. I want Basile to stay, even if he disapointed me with his Copa formation (personnaly, he was perfect before the competition).

Dear Manuel,

Thanks for sharing your views about Bora Multinovic being an effective foreign coach. I also respect Diegeo Maradona’s point of view

Dear Albo,
This is in response to your most recent post. I used humour to emphasize that this is just a casual and harmless blog, where one does not need to resort to expletives at any time and under any circumstances. Having said that, I accept your apologies in that you will not use expletives against anyone who simply has a different opinion than yours irrespective of whether your fellow human being is correct or not!

I followed your arguments above that Pekermann did not use preferential treatment in WC2006. I completely disagree because the facts indicate otherwise. Specifically, Zanetti was left out completely in WC2006. In Copa 2007, Zanetti very recently showed us what he can do on the field. This confirms my theory that argentinean coaches, Pekermann in this case did not “field the best eleven”. I am interested only in facts and not in heresy or locker room antics.

Regarding the bank account you mentionned, let me please clarify. This is NOT about the players. It is about the AFA. That is they are puting the money in their pockets and not making decision that is in the best interests of Argentina. Very recently, Maradona has indirectly alluded to that. I trust him because he has PROVEN to me and the world on the field that he has Argentina’s best interests at heart.

Dear Aurelius,
You can continue to attack my credibility by stating in your most recent post that I “misinterpreted” your statement. All three of us, Albo, Aurelius and myself have the same goals in that we want Argentina to win the WC. The difference though is that Albo and yourself prefer the “laisser faire” approach in continuing with the list of Argentinean coaches who are responsible for failures after failures since 1986. I am espousing the view that it is time for a CHANGE to shock the system. Why not try a foreign coach?

By having you, Albo and most recently Maxilopez attacking my credibility or asking me to shut up, the Argentinean problem of not winning at WC will NOT go away by any measure.

May God bless you all. Cheers

Hey Ken, i’m not attacking your credibility. I like you, you are a veteran here. I just said that we are wasting our time about talking about a foreign coach. Because:

1 ) It will not happen
2 ) It will have a negative impact on Argentine beautiful game

Maxilopez,

You probably know that from my perspective, you are one of the most cherished bloggers here because you ALWAYS say it the way you see it without mincing words. But based on your statement above, you are predicting the future, which none of us can do…

I am still young and so are you. let us see first what happen with WC2010. I have inexhaustible patience. Does the trends of failure at WC level continue in 2010?

Remember a revolution starts with a simple idea… Sooner or later, the argentinean fans, as a result of their passion for football will demand what is best for their country…
as usual cheers to you all.
Ken

Ken, come down from the podium.
It doesn’t look good when people think they’re God.
Your credibility is at floor level simply because you talk too much and say too little.
Be humble, Kenny, c’mon, you can to better then this…

Ken, even if every single Argentine wanted a “revolution”, the decision still belongs to AFA and the fat men in charge of it, concerning coaches.

In France, Roger Lemerre, Jacques Santini and more recently, Raymond Domenech have done really bad work for the NT. They were chosen because they could be manipulated (for NT friendlies in Australia, China, sponsors, ads…). France had amazing players and Zidane, and only won WC 98. The good French coaches, Wenger or Tigana never had their chance. You know why? Because they wanted to build their NT by themselves. Not with the help of Russian Billionaires! It’s the same everywhere, including Argentina. Maybe Pekerman quit the NT because he had no power..

Anyway, IF Argentina had a foreigner coach, it would be a stupid guy like Van Gaal. Hahahahah.

Forget about this idea Ken. It won’t happen before a looooong time, and only if Argentina doesn’t play well next world cups which is quite impossible.

This discussion is going nowhere, firstly face one fact the coach whoever he is, picks his best 11, not your best 11, not my best 11, but his. Or if you like those players that he feels he needs to get the job done. Pekerman picked a squad which had no ego probems, and would get on with one another, and were in tune with one another, and it worked, when thay played they could pretty much pick each other out without looking. They were balanced. There was nothing wrong with the squad he picked, only the tactics applied in the Germany game were not correct.

Day1star,
Are you advocating that Scaloni deserve a chance and not Zanetti in WC2006?

One more point Day1star,

The public can have an input about who is chosen to represent their country.

An example is that of Frank Ribery in WC2006. He was picked by the french coach after the french public keeps shouting his name at national tournament. Similary, Tevez got a chance in Westham because the WEST ham fans kept shouting “there is only one Tevez”.

The public can have a say provided the rejected player can truly make a difference on the field. In both cases above, Ribery did score for France in the WC and Tevez almost by himself kept Westham afloat in the EPL.

Where there is a will there is always a way. The pursue of persistence is the key to success in almost any endeavour… Once a goal is set, the creative mind will always come up with an intelligent solution. Whether it is implemented, is an entirely different matter…

Oh dear lord…will the professor never keep quiet? Can anyone start a new thread and move away from this silly discussion on whether a foreign coach will shock the system and guide us to victory?

Hey everyone i gae an idea to make predictions about who will win each league this year and who will win the champions league. Only one person responded? If yoiu want to talk aboiut something else than do it!! Don tblame others for talking abouit what they want to lol As far as the foreign coach idea I am all for it! But i would still like to see Basile get this chance to see what he can do. But what woiuld be wrong with Wenger or Ferguson leading ouir team? Both of these men love the beautiful game and also are great tacticians so never say no to an idea based on nationalism. having said that I would still like to see what basile can do as I think that he has the right ideas and can not be totally blamed for the lack of speed at the back. My thinking as I have stated is that we need three very strong defenders with speed and then the two defensive mids in front of them.

Albo, Nikhil and the rest,
Have you considered that you might not be as well versed with “sophistry” or as educated or “high caliber” as Ken and his troll buddies? I am sure Ken will gladly offer classes if you might be interested to reach his godly standards.

Believe me ken, I have no reason to feel inferior to you. Of late you have reduced your value to trash. Lets just say, we find your self proclaimed status as the one who sets high standards on this board, quite laughable.

You made a big deal of Albo cursing you but I think he has been very gracious to forgive you despite the fact that you were the one who first picked on him by accusing him of being arrogant because he is Argentinian.

I dont want to get into a fight because there is still time for you to become a little humble and start talking soccer instead of trying to establish your superiority over everyone.

Todd as for Ligue Une it has to be Lyon again this year. ;)

Bundesliga
Bayern
Bremen
Stuttgart

La Liga
Real Madrid
Barcelona
Atletico
Sevilla

EPL
Manchester United
Liverpool
Tottenham
Arsenal

CL
Internazionale (hopefully)

Hope Lucho does not end up at Real unless Schuster really wants him & not the president as otherwise he is already fighting Diarra & Emerson for spots and may not get regular first team football which is a must.

Basile & his players will find a way to win WC2010 as Alexa put it not us.We are just here to discuss /debate (not to hector).

Couple of questions if I may.

Do any of you native Argentines so to speak know if Amadeo Carizzo is related to Juan Pablo ?

How is Schelotto getting on at Columbus ?

Any more news on Bilardo trying to become AFA president ? Pekermann would be nice but extremely unlikely.

Albo I despair …. ;)

Aurelius, as far as I know, there’s no relation between the great Amadeo Carrizo and the young GK.
Guillermo Barros Schelotto seems to be getting a hold of the American life. He’s been playing well and many times becoming an enganche for Columbus Crew since “melli” is a good passer himself.
About Bilardo, he always wants to be in the spotlight, but Grondona has not given signs of leaving his chair empty yet.
I can see Pekerman as head of AFA, but not in the near future.
:-)
Saludos
